Tori Matsuzaka, Koji Yakusho, & Kyoko Yoshine cast in movie “Yuki no Hana”

Tori Matsuzaka, Koji Yakusho, & Kyoko Yoshine are cast in movie “Yuki no Hana.” Movie is based on 1988 non-fiction novel “Yuki no Hana” by Akira Yoshimura and directed by Takashi Koizumi (“A Samurai Chronicle“). Tori Matsuzaka will play lead character Ryosaku Kasahara. Set during the late Edo period, Ryosaku Kasahar works relentlessly on a way to prevent the outbreak of smallpox. Koji Yukusho will play Teisai Hino, who is a fellow doctor, and Kyoko Yoshine will play the lead character’s wife Chiho Kasahara. For Tori Matsuzaka and Koji Yakusho, this will mark their 5th time working together.

“Yuki no Hana” will be released  January 24, 2025 in Japan.

Nao cast in live-action movie “Sensei’s Pious Lie”

Nao is cast in live-action movie “Sensei’s Pious Lie.” The movie is based  on manga series “Sensei no Shiroi Uso” by Akane Torikai and directed by Koichiro Miki (“Anonymous Noise“). The film will have Nao play high school teacher Misuzu Hara. A traumatic incident happened in her recent past with someone she knew. A student then turns to her for advice.

“Sensei’s Pious Lie” will be released July 5, 2024 in Japan.

Masaki Suda cast in movie “Cloud”

Masaki Suda is cast in suspense-thriller film “Cloud.” Movie is written and directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa (“Tokyo Sonata“). The film follows a simple man (Masaki Suda) who encurs small grudges, that become amplified by the internet until his life is threatened. This is the first time actor Masaki Suda and director Kiyoshi Kurosawa has worked together. Filming for “Cloud” began November 25, 2023 and finished December 22, 2023.

“Cloud” will be released September, 2024 in Japan.

Anne Watanabe is cast in movie “Kakushigoto”

Anne Watanabe is cast for the lead role in movie “Kakushigoto.” The film is based on 2011 novel “Uso” by Koji Kitakuni and directed by Kosai Sekine (“Kakushigoto“). Story for “Kakushigoto” is a human mystery tale with Anne Watanabe playing Chisako. She runs into a boy at night and sees that he has been physically abused. She takes him home and pretends to be his mother to keep him safe. The main trailer and poster has also been released for the film. The movie’s theme song of “Tears” by Hitsujibungaku is played during the trailer.

“Kakushigoto” will be released June 7, 2024 in Japan.

Teaser poster and release date for Netflix movie “The Parades”

Teaser poster and release date announced for Netflix distributed movie “The Parades” starring Masami Nagasawa. Movie is written and directed by Michihito Fujii (“The Journalist“). The film will have Masami Nagasawa play Minako. After she wakes up on the beach, she learns that she has died and soon takes part in The Parades, which is a gathering of deceased people in search of a loved one. Supporting cast has also been announced for the film which can be viewed at AsianWiki.

” The Parades” will be available to stream February 29, 2024.

Ren Nagase & Natsuki Deguchi cast in Netflix movie “Yomei Ichinen no Boku ga …”

Ren Nagase & Natsuki Deguchi are cast in Netflix movie “Yomei Ichinen no Boku ga, Yomei Hantoshi no Kimi to Deatta Hanashi.” Movie is based on 2021 novel “Yomei Ichinen to Senkoku Sareta Boku ga, Yomei Hantoshi no Kimi to Deatta Hanashi” by Aoi Morita. The movie adaptation will be directed by Takahiro Miki (“The Door into Summer“). Story for the movie will revolve around the relationship between Akito Hayasaka (Ren Nagase) and Haruna Sakurai (Natsuki Deguchi). Akito Hayasaka learns he has a tumor in his heart and he only has a year left to live. He then meets Haruna Sakurai who has only 6 months left to live.

“Yomei Ichinen no Boku ga, Yomei Hantoshi no Kimi to Deatta Hanashi” will be available to stream sometime later this year on Netflix.

Teaser trailer and teaser poster added for movie “Buzzy Noise” starring Takumi Kawanishi and Hiyori Sakurada. The film is based on manga series “Buzzy Noise” by Jun Mutsuki and directed by Hiroki Kazama (“Cheer Boys!!“). Caption on the teaser poster states at the top next to Takumi Kawanishi “All I need is music” and at the bottom next to Hiyori Sakurada “I want to hear the sound near you.”

“Buzzy Noise” will be released May, 2024 in Japan.

Teaser trailer for movie “Secret”

Teaser trailer added for movie “Secret” starring Taiga Kyomoto and Kotone Furukawa. Movie is a remake of 2007 Taiwanese romance film “Secret.” The teaser trailer begins with Minato Higuchi (Taiga Kyomoto) following the sound of a piano being played in a campus building. He then encounters Yukino Naito (Kotone Furukawa) for the first time. Minato Higuchi asks her what song she is playing and Yukino Naito replies that it is a secret.

“Secret” is now scheduled to be released June, 2024 in Japan.
