Teaser trailer and character posters added for suspense-mystery film “Kuchinai Sakura” starring Hana Sugisaki. Movie is based on 2015 novel “Kuchinai Sakura” by Yuko Yuzuki and directed by Hiroto Hara (“Tokyo City Girl“). Also newly announced main cast members for the film are Riku Hagiwara, Kosuke Toyohara, & Ken Yasuda. The teaser trailer begins with the narrator stating “Suspense-mystery that exposes the darkness within the police.”
“Kuchinai Sakura” will be released June 21, 2024 in Japan.
Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: A female university student was stalked by a man and she was killed by that person. According to a scoop from a local newspaper, a police officer delayed processing a complaint from the victim and, instead, went on a trip. The prefectural police station is in turmoil because of the article and they try to find out who is the source of the leak. Meanwhile, Izumi Moriguchi (Hana Sugisaki) works in the public relations & public appeals department for the prefectural police station. She is suspicious that her best friend, Reporter Chika Tsumura, broke a promise with her and used the information for the scoop. But, Chika Tsumura denies the accusation and insists that she is innocent. One week later, Chika Tsumura is found dead. Izumi Moriguchi is overcome with remorse and guilt, believing if she didn’t suspect her friend then she wouldn’t have been harmed. Izumi Moriguchi now begins to investigate who is responsible for Chika Tsumura’s death.
