Park Ha-Na & Park Sang-Nam cast in KBS1 drama “Let’s Get Married, Maengkong”

Park Ha-Na & Park Sang-Nam are cast for lead roles in KBS1 drama series “Let’s Get Married, Maengkong” (literal title). Also cast in the weekday evening drama series are Kim Sa-Kwon, Lee Yeon-Doo, Park Tam-Hee, & Lee Eun-Hyung. The drama series, steeped in marriage themes, will follow Park Ha-Na as she plays Maeng Kong-Hee. She reunites with her childhood friend, Koo Dan-Soo played by Park Sang-Nam, at her place of work. He is the successor for that company.

“Let’s Get Married, Maengkong” first airs October, 2024 in South Korea (takes over KBS1’s Monday through Friday 8:30PM time slot after “Su-Ji and U-Ri“).

Naohito Fujiki and Susumu Terajima cast in TV Tokyo drama “D&D”

Naohito Fujiki and Susumu Terajima are cast in TV Tokyo drama series “D&D.” The human mystery drama series will have Naohito Fujiki will play Ryo Kamiko. He is a doctor and director of a regional hospital that is facing a financial crisis. Susumu Terajima will play Bunpei Yuge. He is a quirky veteran detective who doesn’t show favoritism to his organization. The doctor and detective work together to solve violent crimes that seem related to the hospital’s situation.

“D&D” will first air October 18, 2024 in Japan (will air in TV Tokyo’s new 9PM time slot, with prior drama series “Shosen Hitogoto desu kara” airing at 8PM).

Oji Suzuka & Honoka Matsumoto cast in Fuji TV drama “Usotoki Rhetoric”

Oji Suzuka and Honoka Matsumoto are cast in Fuji TV live-action drama series “Usotoki Rhetoric.” The drama series is based on manga series “Usotoki Rhetoric” by Ritsu Miyako. Story for “Usotoki Rhetoric,” is set in the early Show period (around 1930-1940) and follows a private detective played by Oji Suzuka, who is in heavy debt. He comes across a woman played by Honoka Matsumoto who has an ability to tell when people tell lies.

“Usotoki Rhetoric” will first air October 7, 2024 in Japan (takes over Fuji TV’s Monday 9PM time slot after “Where does the Sea Begin.”).

Kim Soo-Hyun and Jo Bo-Ah cast in Disney+ drama “Knock Off”

Kim Soo-Hyun and Jo Bo-Ah are cast in Disney+ drama series “Knock Off.” Drama series is scripted by Han Jung-Hoon (“Song of the Bandits“) and directed by Park Hyun-Suk (“Stranger 2“). Kim Soo-Hyun will play Kim Seong-Jun. After the IMF crisis in 1997, Kim Seong-Jun goes from being a regular office worker to the global king in the counterfeit market. Jo Bo-Ah will play Song Hye-Jeong. She is Kim Seong-Jun’s ex-girlfriend and now works on busting counterfeit makers.

“Knock Off” will be available to stream sometime next year.

Masaki Suda cast in movie “Sunset Sunrise”

Masaki Suda is cast in movie “Sunset Sunrise.” The film, which is a comedy, is based on 2022 novel “Sunset Sunrise” by Shuhei Nire and screenplay adaptation written by Kankuro Kudo (“Too Young To Die!“). Masaki Suda will also reunite with director Yoshiyuki Kishi, after last working together on 2017 films “Wilderness: Part One” and “Wilderness: Part Two.” Story for “Sunset Sunrise” is set in 2020, during the pandemic. Masaki Suda will play a man named Shinsaku. He moves out to a small town to work remotely and pursue his hobby of fishing.

“Sunset Sunrise” will be released January, 2025 in Japan.

Main cast announced for movie “Day and Night to Each Other”

Main cast announced for omnibus romance film “Day and Night to Each Other” (working literal title). The movie will be directed by Kim Jong-Kwan (“The Table“). In “Day and Night to Each Other,” four different stories will be told of couples who visit a cafe in an alleyway. The first segment will star Kim Min-Ha & Joo Jong-Hyuk, the second segment will star Han Sun-Hwa & Chang Ryul, the third segment will star Shim Eun-Kyung & Lee Hee-Jun, and the fourth segment will star newcomer Jeon So-Young & Kim Dong-Hwi. Filming for the movie will begin this September. For actor Kim Dong-Hwi, this will be his last acting performance before joining the South Korean military on September 24, 2024.

Suzu Hirose cast in movie “A Pale View of Hills”

Suzu Hirose is cast in movie “A Pale View of Hills.” The film is based on 1982 novel  “A Pale View of Hills” by Kazuo Ishiguro, who won the Nobel Prize in 2017 and wrote the original novel that was made into the 1993 British film “The Remains of the Day.” Kei Ishikawa (“A Man“) will direct the movie and also handle the screenplay adaptation. Filming for the movie has already commenced.

“A Pale View of Hills” will be released sometime during summer, 2025 in Japan.

First teaser trailer for ENA drama “To My Haeri”

First teaser trailer added for ENA drama series “To My Haeri” (literal title) starring Shin Hae-Sun & Lee Jin-Uk. The teaser trailer shows Shin Hae-Sun playing the characters of Joo Eun-Ho & Joo Hye-Ri. They are the same person, but with different personalities. In the teaser trailer, Shin Hae-Sun asks “Burning up, everyday. I’m happy. I’m happy. Are you saying that I am the same person as this person?”

“To My Haeri” first airs September 23, 2024 in South Korea.

Eiji Akaso and Moka Kamishiraishi are cast in movie “366 Days.” The romance film is inspired by 2008 classic song “366 Days” by HY. Fuji TV recently aired their own drama series “366 Days,” starring Alice Hirose & Gordon Maeda, that is also inspired by the song “366 Days” by HY. The drama series and movie version feature different stories that are not related. Meanwhile, the first teaser trailer has been released for the movie and it can be viewed at AsianWiki.

“366 Days” will be released January 10, 2025 in Japan.

Takashi Sorimachi & Yosuke Sugino cast in Fuji TV drama “Okura”

Takashi Sorimachi  & Yosuke Sugino are cast in Fuji TV drama series “Okura.” The mystery-detective drama series features an original screenplay by Shogo Muto (“Mr. Hiiragi’s Homeroom“). Setting for the drama series will revolve around the Okura department at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. The department specializes in unsolved cold cases and is looked down upon by detectives from other departments. Both Takashi Sorimachi  & Yosuke Sugino will play detectives who work in Okura.

“Okura” will first air October 8, 2024 in a new 9PM time slot for drama series on Fuji TV.
