Takako Matsu and Hokuto Matsumura are cast in movie “1st Kiss.” Movie is scripted by Yuji Sakamoto (“Quartet“) and directed by Ayuko Tsukahara (“La Grande Maison Tokyo“). The film will have Takako Matasu play Kanna Suzuri. After the death of her husband in accident, she somehow travels back in time to right before she first met her husband. Mayu Hotta, Sawa Nimura, Mei Hata and Neru Nagahama are cast in NTV drama series “Wakakusa Monogatari.” The drama series is based on classic 1868 U.S. novel “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott, but told from the vantage point of modern day Japan. The four announced female actresses will play sisters from the Machida family, with Mayu Hotta playing lead character Ryo Machida. She is the second oldest sister and hopes to become a drama series screenwriter.
“Wakakusa Monogatari” will first air October, 2024 (takes over NTV’s Sunday 10:30 PM time slot after “Furitsumore Kodokuna Shiyo“).

Masahiro Motoki, Kyoko Koizumi, Kiichi Nakai, & Koji Ishizaka are cast in movie “Umi no Chinmoku.” Movie is features an original screenplay by Sou Kuramoto (“Yasuragi no Sato“) and directed by Setsuro Wakamatsu (“Aircraft Carrier Ibuki“). The film starts off with a scandal at an art exhibition, when one of the paintings is discovered to be a counterfeit. Later, a woman’s dead boy is found in Hokkaido. A genius painter named Ryuji Tsuyama (Masahiro Motoki), who disappeared from the public’s eye, is found to have links to both incidents.

Nao and Yuta Tamamori are cast in TBS drama series “Ano Kuzu wo Nagutte Yaritainda.” The drama series is a romantic-comedy that is scripted by Yoko Izumisawa (“The Expert of Changing Jobs“) & Keiko Kanome (“Good Morning Call“). In the upcoming drama series, Nao will play Hokomi Sato. She was betrayed by her ex-boyfriend on their wedding day and now makes it a point to avoid scummy men. She meets Kairi Kuzuya, played by Yuta Tamamori, who is a mysterious person and she takes up boxing as well.

The melo-thriller is based on webcomic “Chinaehaneun X” by Ban Ji-Woon and will be directed by Lee Eung-Bok (“Sweet Home“). At the center of “Dear X” will be Baek A-Jin played by Kim You-Jung. She is a top actress, but, because of physical abuse she endured in her childhood, has mastered manipulating other people and hiding her devilish side until it is necessary.

Shun Oguri & Yu Aoi are cast in Netflix drama series “Human Vapor.” The drama series is a reboot of 1960 sci-fi film “The Human Vapor” that was directed by Ishiro Honda. South Koreans Yeon Sang-Ho (“Train To Busan“) and Ryoo Yong-Jae (“Parasyte: The Grey“) wrote the screenplay adaptation and Yeon Sang-Ho is also credited as the executive producer of the drama series. The drama series will be directed by Shinzo Katayama (“Siblings of the Cape“) and set in modern day Japan.
Release date for “Human Vapor” has not yet been determined.
Teaser trailer and poster added for tvN-TVING drama special “O’PENing: Junk Dealer Mi-Ran” (literal title) starring Lim Se-Mi and Lee Si-Woo. Caption on the poster states “Now I know, how to love.” The drama special will follow a romance between a junk shop owner (Lim Se-Mi) and her customer (Lee Si-Woo).

Ryohei Suzuki and Kasumi Arimura are cast in movie “Hana Manma.” The movie is based on 2005 novel “Hana Manma” by Minato Shukawa and directed by Tetsu Maeda (“Do Unto Others“). The novel won the 133rd Naoki Prize in 2005. The movie version adapts the two main characters from the original novel (which was focused on their childhood days) and shows them as adults. The two main characters are old brother Toshiki Kato (Ryohei Suzuki) and younger sister Fumiko Kato (Kasumi Arimura).
“Hana Manma” will be released sometime spring, 2025 in Japan.
