Winners of the 2020 Daejong Film Awards

See list of winners and nominees at the just concluded 2020 Daejong Film Awards at AsianWiki. This year’s award ceremony was originally scheduled to air Febraury 25, 2020, but the Covid-19 caused the postponement to June 3, 2020. Not surprisingly, Bong Joon-Ho‘s “Parasite” was the night’s biggest winner with a total of 5 awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress (Lee Jung-Eun). Best Actor award went to Lee Byung-Hun in “Ashfall” and Best Actress award went to Jung Yu-Mi in “Kim Ji-Young: Born 1982.”

First still images of Jang Seung-Jo and teaser trailer #1 added for JTBC drama series “Model Detective” (literal title) co-starring Son Hyun-Joo. In the drama series, Jang Seung-Jo plays Oh Ji-Hyeok. He is an elite detective and also wealthy, due to an inheritance. Because of his financial position, he is not swayed by money or people in power. Lee Seung-Gi cast in tvN drama series “Mouse”

Lee Seung-Gi is cast for one of the 2 lead roles in tvN drama series “Mouse.” Choi Jin-Hyuk has already received an offer for the other lead role and he is still considering the offer. The drama series is scripted by Choi Ran (“Black“) and asks the question if people are able to determine if a psychopath would be born through fetal gene testing, would someone still give birth to that person?

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Jung Ba-Reum (Lee Seung-Gi) is a rookie police officer, working at a police substation. He is an honest person and tries to attain justice. He faces a psychopath murderer, who places the entire nation in fear. Jung Ba-Reum’s life is totally changed afterwards.

Mugi Kadowaki & Kiko Mizuhara cast in movie “Tokyo Noble Girl”

Mugi Kadowaki and Kiko Mizuhara are cast in movie “Tokyo Noble Girl.” The film is based on 2016 novel  “Ano Ko wa Kizoku” by Mariko Yamauchi (“Japanese Girls Never Die“) and directed by Yukiko Sode (“Good Stripes“). The film revolves around two women who live completely different lives and their self-reliance.

“Tokyo Noble Girl” will be released sometime next year in Japan.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Hanako Haibara (Mugi Kadowaki) was born and raised in the city of Tokyo. After she gets dumped by her boyfriend, while in her late 20’s, she goes on blind dates to find a man to marry.

Miki Tokioka (Kiko Mizuhara) was born in a province. She studied very hard and entered a prestigious university in Tokyo. She experienced difficult financial times, but she now works at an IT company.

Teaser poster and ep.1 air date set for KBS2 drama series “Men are Men” (working title) starring Hwang Jung-Eum, Yoon Hyun-Min, and Seo Ji-Hoon. The teaser poster does not show any of the actors in the drama series, but does show a broken heart with English captions that states “Marry Me.” The ep.1 premiere date is also shown, which is July 6, 2020. The drama series will take over KBS2’s Monday and Tuesday 10PM time slot after “Born Again.”

Meanwhile, below are the first still images of Hwang Jung-Eum and Yoon Hyun-Min in the drama series. For “Men are Men,” Hwang Jung-Eum plays Seo Hyun-Joo.
