Masahiro Motoki & Kyoko Koizumi cast in movie “Umi no Chinmoku”

Masahiro Motoki, Kyoko Koizumi, Kiichi Nakai, & Koji Ishizaka are cast in movie “Umi no Chinmoku.” Movie is features an original screenplay by Sou Kuramoto (“Yasuragi no Sato“) and directed by Setsuro Wakamatsu (“Aircraft Carrier Ibuki“). The film starts off with a scandal at an art exhibition, when one of the paintings is discovered to be a counterfeit. Later, a woman’s dead boy is found in Hokkaido. A genius painter named Ryuji Tsuyama (Masahiro Motoki), who disappeared from the public’s eye, is found to have links to both incidents.

“Umi no Chinmoku” will be released November 22, 2024 in Japan.

Ryohei Suzuki and Kasumi Arimura cast in movie “Hana Manma”

Ryohei Suzuki and Kasumi Arimura are cast in movie “Hana Manma.” The movie is based on 2005 novel “Hana Manma” by Minato Shukawa and directed by Tetsu Maeda (“Do Unto Others“). The novel won the 133rd Naoki Prize in 2005. The movie version adapts the two main characters from the original novel (which was focused on their childhood days) and shows them as adults. The two main characters are old brother Toshiki Kato (Ryohei Suzuki) and younger sister Fumiko Kato (Kasumi Arimura).

“Hana Manma” will be released sometime spring, 2025 in Japan.

Ryoki Miyama, Shiori Kubo, & Chansung cast in movie “Dare yori mo Tsuyoku Dakishimete”

Ryoki Miyama, Shiori Kubo, & Chansung are cast in movie “Dare yori mo Tsuyoku Dakishimete.” The film is adapted from 2005 novel “Dare yori mo Tsuyoku Dakishimete” by Fuyuki Shindo and directed by Eiji Uchida (“Lowlife Love“). Ryoki Miyama will play Mizushima. He has OCD and mysophobia. His disorder causes him to be unable to touch anything, including his girlfriend played by Shiori Kubo.

“Dare yori mo Tsuyoku Dakishimete” will be released February, 2025 in Japan.

Main trailer and poster added for movie “Maru” starring Tsuyoshi Domoto. Movie is written and directed by Naoko Ogigami (“Riverside Mukolitta“). The film follows an artist Sawada, played by Tsuyoshi Domoto, who becomes fascinated by the shape of a circle. Main trailer and poster added for movie “Baby Assassins: Nice Days” starring Akari Takaishi and Saori Izawa. The film is the third installment in the Baby Assassins films franchise that started with 2021 movie “Baby Assassins.” Meanwhile, the movie’s theme song has been revealed as “Kyoshikyoku” by rock band Queen Bee. The theme song is featured in the main trailer.

Main trailer for movie “Cloud” starring Masaki Suda. Movie is written and directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa (“Tokyo Sonata“) and will have its world premiere in the Out of Competition section at this year’s Venice Film Festival (August 28-Sept. 7, 2024). The theme song for the movie has been announced as “Boy Fearless” by rock band Alexandros (pictured below). The song is played during the main trailer. Captions in the main trailer states (0:41) “Invisible malice,” (0:42) “Start a mob,” (0:46) “Anonymous hunting game,” (0:48) “When realize, become a target.”

Arata Sato and Miho Watanabe are cast in movie “Seishun Gestalt Houkai.” Movie is based on 2021 novel “Seishun Gestalt Houkai” by Tomato Marui and screenplay adaptation written by Kisa Miura (“Eye Love You“). The film is set at a high school where a girl, played by Miho Watanabe. suddenly comes down with “adolescent face loss syndrome.” Only one other student, played by Arata Sato, notices something off in her. The illness depicted in the original novel and movie is a fictional disorder where a youth loses their own individuality and identity, so much so that they can’t recognize their own face.

“Seishun Gestalt Houkai” will be released sometime next year in Japan.

Fumiya Takahashi and Nanase Nishino cast in movie “The Boy and the Dog”

Fumiya Takahashi and Nanase Nishino are cast in movie “The Boy and the Dog” (literal title). The film is based on 2020 short story collection “Shonen to Inu” by Seishu Hase and directed by Takahisa Zeze. The film’s screenplay adaptation will also incorporate original story elements. Over the course of several years, the film will follow a dog named Tamon and his influence on several different owners that take him in.

“The Boy and the Dog” will be released sometime next year in Japan.
