Masaharu Fukuyama and Kasumi Arimura cast in movie “Black Showman”

Masaharu Fukuyama and Kasumi Arimura are cast in movie “Black Showman.” The film is based on 2020 mystery novel “Black Showman and the Murder in an Obscure Town” by Keigo Higashino and directed by Akira Tanaka (“Ichikei’s Crow“). Story for “Black Showman” revolves around the murder of junior high school teacher Eiichi Kamio. His niece (Kasumi Arimura) and brother (Masaharu Fukuyama) team up to find out the truth behind his death. Filming for “Black Showman” will begin in late October.

“Black Showman” will be released sometime next year in Japan.

Hiroshi Abe cast for movie “Showtime 7”

Hiroshi Abe is cast for the lead role in movie “Showtime 7.” The film is a remake of 2013 South Korean movie “The Terror Live” starring Ha Jung-Woo. For the upcoming thriller, Hiroshi Abe will play former anchorman and now radio show host Shinnosuke Orimoto. He receives a phone call from someone warning of a bomb that will explode. Meanwhile, the first teaser poster and teaser trailer, which can be viewed at AsianWiki, has been released. Caption on the teaser poster states “The worst live broadcast (Showtime) in history begins.”

“Showtime 7” will be released February 7, 2025 in Japan.

Teaser trailer and poster added for fantasy-romance movie “My Beloved Stranger” starring Kento Nakajima and Milet. The film, directed by Takahiro Miki (“The Door into Summer “), follows two people who one day wake up in a different world. Trailer and poster for movie “366 Days”

Trailer and poster added for movie “366 Days” starring Eiji Akaso and Eiji Akaso. Movie is inspired by 2008 pop song “366 Days” by HY, which was also adapted into 2024 Fuji TV drama series “366 Days.” The trailer begins with Minato Makiya (Eiji Akaso) listening to a cassette player and hearing the voice of Miu Tamashiro (Moka Kamishiraishi) asking “Minato, are you doing fine?” Captions in the trailer then states “It was the voice of my ex-lover that I had heard for the first time in 15 years.”

“366 Days” will be released January 10, 2025 in Japan.

Koki, Keisuke Watanabe, & Keito Tsuna cast in movie “Megami Korin”

Koki, Keisuke Watanabe, & Keito Tsuna are cast in two-part movie “Megami Korin.” Movie is based on webcomic “Yeoshingangrim” by Yaongyi, which was previously adapted into 2020 tvN drama series “True Beauty” starring Mun Ka-Young, Cha Eun-Woo, & Hwang In-Yeop. For the movie version, Koki will play Reina Tanigawa. She is a teenager who gets bullied for her looks, but she turns to makeup to transform herself.

“Megami Korin” will release its “Before” version on March 20, 2025 and its “After” version on May 1, 2025. Meanwhile, the first teaser trailer for the movie can be viewed on AsianWiki.

Nobuyuki Suzuki cast in movie “Salaryman Kintaro”

Nobuyuki Suzuki is cast in movie “Salaryman Kintaro.” The film is based on manga series “Salaryman Kintaro” by Hiroshi Motomiya and will be released in two parts. The manga series was previously adapted into TBS drama series “Salaryman Kintaro,” TV Asahi drama series “Salaryman Kintaro,” and a 1999 movie version “Salaryman Kintaro.” Nobuyuki Suzuki will play main character Kintaro Yajima. He is a former motorcycle gang leader and now a salaryman.

“Salaryman Kintaro” will be released  January 10, 2025 with the Akatsuki version and the second part named Kai version will be released February 7, 2025.

Movie is based on 2020 novel “Shotai” by Tamehito Somei, which was previously adapted into 2022 WOWOW drama series “Shotai” starring Kazuya Kamenashi. The theme song for the movie version has been announced as “Taiyo” by duo Yorushika. The track is played during the main trailer. Captions on the teaser poster states “Believe in you. Two worlds. Riku Hagiwara and Yuumi Kawai are cast in romance film “She Taught Me Serendipity.” The movie is based on novel “Kyo no Sora ga Ichiban Suki, to Mada Ienai Boku wa” by comedian Shusuke Fukutoku and directed by Akiko Ohku (“Tokyo Serendipity“). For director Akiko Ohku, “She Taught Me Serendipity” is her first directed romance film told from the viewpoint of the male protagonist.

“She Taught Me Serendipity” will be released April, 2025 in Japan.

Shiori Kubo and Yuna Taira cast in movie “Nemuru Baka”

Shiori Kubo and Yuna Taira are cast in live-action movie “Nemuru Baka.” The film, that follows the daily lives of two female roommates at a university, is based on manga series “Nemuru Baka” by Masakazu Ishiguro and directed by Yugo Sakamoto (“Baby Assassins“). For Yuna Taira, who plays Ruka Kujirai, she dyed her hair blonde for the first time and learned to play the guitar for the role. “Nemuru Baka” will be released sometime next spring in Japan.

Main trailer for movie “Cells at Work”

Main trailer added for live-action movie “Cells at Work” starring Mei Nagano and Takeru Satoh. Movie is based on manga series “Hataraku Saibou” by Akane Shimizu and directed by Hideki Takeuchi (“Fly Me To The Saitama“). The main trailer shows inside the body of Niko Urushizaki (Mana Ashida), with colorful cells as characters and a backdrop that looks like a wonderland. These scenes were film in 31 locations across 21 cities in Japan and used around 7,500 extras. The movie’s theme song has been revealed as well, which is “50%” by Official Hige Dandism. The theme song is featured in the main trailer.

“Cells at Work” will be released December 13, 2024 in Japan.
