Masahiro Motoki, Kyoko Koizumi, Kiichi Nakai, & Koji Ishizaka are cast in movie “Umi no Chinmoku.” Movie is features an original screenplay by Sou Kuramoto (“Yasuragi no Sato“) and directed by Setsuro Wakamatsu (“Aircraft Carrier Ibuki“). The film starts off with a scandal at an art exhibition, when one of the paintings is discovered to be a counterfeit. Later, a woman’s dead boy is found in Hokkaido. A genius painter named Ryuji Tsuyama (Masahiro Motoki), who disappeared from the public’s eye, is found to have links to both incidents.
“Umi no Chinmoku” will be released November 22, 2024 in Japan.
Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: A major incident takes place at an exhibition for world famous painter Shuzo Tamura (Koji Ishizaka). One of the exhibited works is found to be fake. As news of this incident heats up day by day, a woman’s dead body is found in Otaru, Hokkaido. A man emerges with ties to both incidents. That man is Ryuji Tsuyama (Masahiro Motoki). He was once known as a genius painter, but, due to an incident, he disappeared from the public’s sight.
Anna Tamura (Kyoko Koizumi) once dated Ryuji Tsuyama and she is now married to Shuzo Tamura. She travels to Otaru. There, she reunites with Ryuji Tsuyama, whom she thought she would never see again. There are people around Ryuji Tsuyama, including mysterious fixer Suiken (Kiichi Nakai), art connoisseur Seike (Toru Nakamura), a woman named Botan (Misa Shimizu) with a full-body tattoo, and a bartender Azami (Megumi Sugeno) who loves Ryuji Tsuyama.
