Ko Hyun-Jung & Jang Dong-Yoon cast in SBS drama “The Mantis”

Ko Hyun-Jung & Jang Dong-Yoon are cast in SBS drama series “The Mantis” (literal title). The drama series is a remake of French TV series “La Mante.” Byun Young-Joo (“Helpless“) will direct the drama series and the screenplay adaptation will be written by Lee Young-Jong (“The Flu“). For “The Mantis,” Ko Hyun-Jung will play Jung Yi-Shin. She is serial killer, who killed 5 men about 20 years ago, and also a mother. Jang Dong-Yoon will play Cha Soo-Yeol. He is a police officer and the son of Jung Yi-Shin.

“The Mantis” will air sometime next year in South Korea.

Still images and release date for movie “Love in the Big City”

First still images and release date set for movie “Love in the Big City” starring Kim Go-Eun & Noh Sang-Hyun. The film is directed by Lee Eon-Hee (“…ing“) and based on 2019 novel “Daedoshiui Sarangbeob” by Park Sang-Young. “Love in the Big City” will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13, 2024 and its general release October 2, 2024 in South Korea.

Trailer for Apple TV+ drama “Pachinko Season 2”

Trailer added for Apple TV+ drama series “Pachinko Season 2” starring Kim Min-Ha, Lee Min-Ho, Youn Yuh-Jung, & Jin Ha. The drama series is a sequel to 2022 Apple TV+ drama series “Pachinko” and is based on 2017 novel “Pachinko” by Lee Min-Jin. The trailer also features the song “Viva La Vida,” originally sung by Coldplay, reinterpreted by Blackpink’s Rose.

“Pachinko Season 2” will be available to stream from August 23, 2024.

International trailer for movie “Harbin”

International trailer added for movie “Harbin” starring Hyun-Bin, Park Jeong-Min, Jeon Yeo-Bin, and Lee Dong-Wook. The film is set in the early 1900’s when Korea was under Japanese occupation. Movie is directed by Woo Min-Ho (“The Man Standing Next“) and follows freedom fighters as they set out on a daring attack in Harbin, China.

“Harbin” will have its world premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival this September and then will be released in South Korea at a later date.

Main cast announced for JTBC drama “Virtuous Sales”

Kim So-Yeon, Yeon Woo-Jin, Kim Sung-Ryoung, Kim Sun-Young, and Lee Se-Hee are cast in JTBC drama series “Virtuous Sales” (literal title). The drama series is a remake of 2016 UK television series “Brief Encounters.” Story for “Virtuous Sales” will be set in the year 1992 in a rural South Korean town. Four women begin door to door sales of adults products for their own reasons.

“Virtuous Sales” will air sometime later this year in South Korea.

Yook Sung-Jae, Bona, & Kim Ji-Hoon cast in SBS drama “The Haunted Palace”

Yook Sung-Jae, Bona, and Kim Ji-Hoon are cast in SBS drama series “The Haunted Palace” (literal title). The drama series is set in historical times and features a story with elements of fantasy and romantic-comedy. The screenplay is written by Yoon Soo-Jung (“Cheer Up!“) and directed by Yun Seong-Sik (“Cleaning Up“). Yook Sung-Jae will play Yoon Gab. He works within the royal palace, but becomes possessed by an Imoogi (dragon). Bona will play Yeo-Ri. She comes from a family of shamans, but she refuses to partake in that field. Kim Ji-Hoon will play King Lee Sung. All three of these characters will work together to find the secret of the females ghosts that haunt the royal palace.

“The Haunted Palace” will first air sometime next year in South Korea.

Yuya Yagira, Ryota Bando, and Tasuku Sato cast in TBS drama “Lion no Kakurega”

Yuya Yagira, Ryota Bando, and Tasuku Sato are cast in TBS drama series “Lion no Kakurega.” The human drama features an original screenplay by Koji Tokuo & Yoshino Ichinohe and directed by Toshio Tsuboi. Screenwriter Koji Tokuo and director Toshio Tsuboi previously worked together in 2020 TBS drama series “My Housekeeper Nagisa-san.” For “Lion no Kakurega,” Yuya Yagira will play lead character Hiroto Komori. He takes care of his younger brother (Ryota Bando) who has autism and works as an artist. A boy named Lion (Tasuku Sato) then comes into their lives.

“Lion no Kakurega” first airs October, 2024 in Japan (takes over TBS’ Friday 10PM time slot after “Smiling Matryoshka“).
