Kento Yamazaki cast in live-action film “Kingdom”

Kento Yamazaki is cast for the lead role in live-action film “Kingdom.” The film is based on manga series “Kingdom” by Yasuhisa Hara and directed by Shinsuke Sato. Cast in supporting roles are Ryo Yoshizawa, Masami Nagasawa,Kanna Hashimoto and Takao Osawa. Filming for the movie has already been completed. Filming began April, 2018 in China and then took place in Japan for another one and a half months. The film is set in Qin Dynasty during the warring states period in China. Kento Yamazaki plays Shin who dreams of becoming a great military general. Ryo Yoshizawa will play two characters: Eisei (young King) and Hyou (childhood friend of Shin).

Meanwhile the first trailer for “Kingdom” has been added on AsianWiki. “Kingdom” will be released April 19, 2019.

First script reading for MBC drama series “Bad Detective”

First script reading for MBC drama series “Bad Detective” (literal title) took place early September, 2018 at MBC Broadcasting Station in Sangam, South Korea. At the first script reading, main cast members including Shin Ha-Kyun, Lee Seol, Park Ho-San, Baro (former member of ‘B1A4’) and Kim Gun-Woo attended. Director Kim Dae-Jin stated at the first first script reading “I feel confident after seeing the actors, actresses and staff gathered here. I hope no one gets hurt during filming of the drama.” The drama series is a remake of BBC One TV series “”Luther.”

“Bad Detective” first airs November 26, 2018 in South Korea.

Yoko Maki cast in NHK drama special “Flaming Attorney”

Yoko Maki is cast for the lead role new NHK drama special “Flaming Attorney” (literal title of “Enjo Bengonin”). Also cast in supporting roles are Riisa Naka, Takanori Iwata, Amane Okayama, Hairi Katagiri, Rumiko Koyanagi, Ryudo Uzaki and Yukiyoshi Ozawa. In the drama special, Yoko Maki plays Miho Watarai. She works as an attorney and runs her office out of the second floor of her parents’ house. The drama special is directed by Tomochika Kasaura and scripted by Yumiko Inoue.

“Flaming Attorney” will air December 15, 2018 in Japan.

Ko Hyun-Jung cast in KBS2 drama series “My Lawyer, Mr. Jo 2”

Ko Hyun-Jung is cast in KBS2 sequel drama series “My Lawyer, Mr. Jo 2” co-starring Park Shin-Yang. For the drama series, Ko Hyun-Jung will play Im Jung-Hee. Her character is scripted as a villain. She attempts to take revenge and uses a false identity as a car saleswoman in Busan. “My Lawyer, Mr. Jo 2” is a sequel to 2016 KBS2 drama series “My Lawyer, Mr. Jo” and is also based on webcomic “Dongnebyunhosa Jodeulho” by Haechoolring.

“My Lawyer, Mr. Jo 2” first airs January, 2019 in South Korea.

First script reading for tvN drama series “Boyfriend”

First script reading for tvN drama series “Boyfriend” took place August, 2018 in Sangnam Neighborhood, Seoul, South Korea. Main cast members including Song Hye-Kyo, Park Bo-Gum, Ko Chang-Seok, Shin Jung-Keun, Baek Ji-Won, Moon Sung-Geun, Kim Hye-Eun and Jeon So-Nee attended. The drama series depicts the romance between Cha Soo-Hyun (Song Hye-Kyo), who has never lived freely, and outgoing Kim Jin-Hyeok (Park Bo-Gum).

“Boyfriend” will first air November, 2018 in South Korea (takes over tvN’s Wednesday & Thursday 9:30PM time slot after “Hundred Million Stars From the Sky“).

Teaser trailer #2 for movie “Ai Uta: Yakusoku no Nakuhito”

Teaser trailer #2 added for movie “Ai Uta: Yakusoku no Nakuhito” starring Ryusei Yokohama, Kaya Kiyohara and Hiroki Iijima. The movie is based on song”Ai Uta” by pop rock group GReeeeN and directed by Yasuhiro Kawamura. This is the second film that is based on a song by GReeeeN. 2017 film “Kiseki: Sobito of That Day” was the first film based on a song by GReeeeN.

“Ai Uta: Yakusoku no Nakuhito” will be released January 25, 2019 in Japan.

Takumi Saito cast in movie “Mahjong Horoki 2020”

Takumi Saito is cast in movie “Mahjong Horoki 2020.” The film is based on novel “Mahjong Horoki” by Takehiro Irokawa and directed by Kazuya Shiraishi. Kazuya Shiraishi is known more for his darker suspense films like “The Devil’s Path” and “Birds Without Names.” In the film “Mahjong Horoki 2020,” Takumi Saito plays main character Boyatetsu. He travels to the year 2020 from the year 1945. While he becomes acclimated to a Tokyo that deals with a declining population and rising unemployment rate, he tries to play mahjong.

“Mahjong Horoki 2020” will be released April 5, 2019 in Japan.
