See list of nominees and winners at the 55th Daejong Film Awards

See the list of nominees and winners at the just concluded 55th Daejong Film Awards. Lee Chang-Dong‘s “Burning” won the “Best Film” award, while Jang Joon-Hwan received the “Best Director” award for “1987: When The Day Comes.” Hwang Jung-Min & Lee Sung-Min split the “Best Actor” award for their roles in “The Spy Gone North” and Na Moon-Hee won the “Best Actress” award for “I Can Speak.”

First script reading for SBS drama series “Bok-Soo’s Back”

Frst script reading for upcoming SBS drama series “Bok-Soo’s Back” (literal title) took place October 8, 2018 at SBS Ilsan Production Studios in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. At the first script reading, main cast members Yoo Seung-Ho, Jo Bo-Ah, Kwak Dong-Yeon, Cheon Ho-Jin and  Park Ah-In all attended. The first script reading took about 3 hours to complete.

“Bok-Soo’s Back” will first air sometime in the early part of December, 2018 (takes over SBS’ Monday and Tuesday 10PM time slot after “Where Stars Land.”).

Mayu Matsuoka, Tori Matsuzaka, Win Morisaki, Oji Suzuka cast in movie “Honeybees and Distant Thunder”

Mayu Matsuoka, Tori Matsuzaka, Win Morisaki and Oji Suzuka are cast for lead roles in movie “Honeybees and Distant Thunder” (literal title). The film is based on 2016 novel “Mitsubachi to Enrai” by Riku Onda and directed by Kei Ishikawa. Original novel “Mitsubachi to Enrai” won the 156th Naoki Prize and the 14th Japan Booksellers’ Award. Story for “Honeybees and Distant Thunder” will follow four people who take part in an international piano competition. Their pasts and backgrounds all differ and so are their reasons for competing.

Filming for “Honeybees and Distant Thunder” will begin at the end of October, 2018 and finish mid-December, 2018. “Honeybees and Distant Thunder” will be released sometime during autumn, 2019 in Japan.

New teaser trailers for tvN drama series “Memories of the Alhambra”

Teaser trailer #4 and #5 added for upcoming tvN drama series “Memories of the Alhambra” starring Hyun-Bin and Park Shin-Hye. At the end of teaser trailer #4, Hyun-Bin’s narration states “The story begins from here. Coming to Granada.” At the end of teaser trailer #5, Park Shin-Hye’s  narration states “Finally today, magic happened in my life.”

“Memories of the Alhambra” first airs December, 2018 in South Korea.

Teaser trailer for tvN drama series “Top Star U-Back”

First teaser trailer added for upcoming tvN drama series “Top Star U-Back” starring Kim Ji-Suk and Jeon So-Min. The teaser trailer reveals that top star (Kim Ji-Suk) was involved in a drunk driving incident. The media is all over him and he decides to flee to a small rural island until things settle down.

Meanwhile, below are the first still images of Kim Ji-Suk & Jeon So-Min in the drama series. “Top Star U-Back” first airs November 16, 2018 in South Korea (takes over tvN’s Friday 11PM time slot after “Big Forest“).

Mitsuki Takahata cast in TBS drama series “Maison de Police”

Mitsuki Takahata is cast in new TBS drama series “Maison de Police.” The drama series is based on 2018 novel “Maison de Police” by Miaki Kato and directed by Yuichi Sato. Also cast in supporting roles are Hidetoshi Nishijima, Fumiyo Kohinata, Goro Noguchi, Takuzo Kadono and Masaomi Kondo. in drama series “Maison de Police,” Mitsuki Takahata will play rookie detective Hiyori Makino. She investigates a murder case that may be a copycat crime from 5 years earlier.

“Maison de Police” first airs January, 2019 in Japan.

Teaser trailer for KBS2 drama series “Feel Good To Die”

First teaser trailer for KBS2 drama series “Feel Good To Die” (English title) starring Kang Ji-Hwan and Baek Jin-Hee. The drama series revolves around a boss (Kang Ji-Hwan) that only a mother could love and his secretary (Baek Jin-Hee) who gets so fed up she wishes that he was dead. The boss does die, but the secretary finds herself going back in time and must save him.

“Feel Good To Die” first airs November 7 2018 in South Korea (takes over KBS2’s Wednesday and Thursday 10PM time slot after “The Ghost Detective“).

First teaser trailer for JTBC drama series “SKY Castle” starring Yum Jung-AhLee Tae-RanYoon Se-Ah and Oh Na-Ra. The drama series follows 4 women who are residents in upscale SKY Castle. The teaser trailer features Han Seo-Jin (Yum Jung-Ah) as she prepares for a dinner party. She says in Korean at the end of the trailer “Open” and then a voiceover states “SKY CASTLE where the women live.”

Lee Dong-Wook and Yoo In-Na cast in tvN drama series “Reach of Sincerity”

Lee Dong-Wook and Yoo In-Na are now cast in new tvN drama series “Reach of Sincerity” (literal title). The duo famously appeared together in 2016 tvN drama series “Goblin.” For drama series “Reach of Sincerity,” Lee Dong-Wook will play lead male character Kwon Jung-Rok. He is a lawyer and does excellent work. He ranks number #1 at his law firm for winning cases. Meanwhile, Yoo In-Na will play lead female character Oh Yoon-Seo whose real name is Oh Jin-Sim. Due to a scandal, her acting career is finished. She wants to act again. To play the character for a drama series, she begins work as a secretary at a law firm for a few months.

“Reach of Sincerity” first airs January, 2019 in South Korea.
