Air date for JTBC drama “Dr. Slump”

Air date set for JTBC drama series “Dr. Slump” starring Park Hyung-Sik & Park Shin-Hye. The drama series is now set to first air  January 27, 2024, taking over JTBC’s Saturday & Sunday 10:30 PM time slot after “Welcome to Samdal-ri.” In addition, photos above and below are from the first script reading, which took place recently. Taking part in the script reading were Park Hyung-Sik, Park Shin-Hye, Yoon Park, Kong Seong-Ha, Jang Hye-Jin, Hyun Bong-Sik, Yoon Sang-Hyeon, Oh Dong-Min, Park Won-Ho, Kang Sang-Joon, and Jung Ji-Soon.

Lee Se-Young and Kentaro Sakaguchi cast in Coupang Play drama “What Comes After Love”

Lee Se-Young and Kentaro Sakaguchi are cast in Coupang Play drama series “What Comes After Love.” The drama series is based on novel “Sarang Hooae Oneun Geoddeul” by Kong Ji-Young and Hitonari Tsuji. Story for “What Comes After Love,” follows Lee Se-Young as Hong and Kentaro Sakaguchi as Jungo. When Hong studies in Japan as a student, she mwets Jungo and they fall in love. They break up though, but meet 5 years later in South Korea.

“What Comes After Love” will be available to stream sometime in 2024.

Atsushi Ito, Teppei Koike cast in TV Asahi drama “Rikon Shinai Otoko”

Atsushi Ito, Teppei Koike, Taiki Sato, Miki Mizuno are cast in TV Asahi drama series “Rikon Shinai Otoko.” The drama series is based on webcomic “Rikon Shinai Otoko” by Reiji Ohtake and screenplay adaptation by Osamu Suzuki (“The Queen of Villains“). Screenwriter Osamu Suzuki will be retiring from writing and this will be his last drama series screenplay, which is a black-comedy. Actor Atsushi Ito will play lead character Wataru Okatani. He learns that his wife is having an affair, but he must be careful because he learns that his chances of gaining child custody in divorces are low.

“Rikon Shinai Otoko” will first air January 20, 2024 in Japan (takes over TV Asahi’s Saturday 11:30 PM time slot after “Muddy Dining Table“).

Teaser trailer for KBS2 drama “Fantasy Sonata”

First teaser trailer added for KBS2 drama series “Fantasy Sonata” (literal title) starring Park Ji-Hoon & Hong Ye-Ji. The period drama series is based on webcomic “Hwansangyeonga” by Ban Ji-Woon. The teaser trailer begins with Park Ji-Hoon stating “I put you in my heart for a moment” and 10 seconds later Hone Ye-Ji states “It was a relationship that we shouldn’t have met.”

“Fantasy Sonata” first airs January, 2024 in South Korea (takes over KBS2’s Monday and Tuesday 9:50 PM time slot after “The Matchmakers“).

Main cast announced for Netflix drama “Weak Hero Class 2”

Main cast announced for Netflix drama series “Weak Hero Class 2” starring Park Ji-Hoon. The drama series is a sequel to 2022 Wavve drama series “Weak Hero Class 1” and will move over to Netflix as its distribution platform. Joining Park Ji-Hoon in the sequel drama series and playing new characters are Ryeo Un, Choi Min-Young, Yoo Su-Bin, Bae Na-Ra, Lee Min-Jae, & Lee Jun-Young. Setup for part 2 will have Park Ji-Hoon transferring to a new school, where he makes friends and also enemies.

“Weak Hero Class 2” will be available to stream sometime in 2024.

Trailer and poster added for movie “Matching” starring Tao Tsuchiya, Daisuke Sakuma, & Nobuaki Kaneko. The suspense-thriller film is co-scripted & directed by Eiji Uchida (“Offbeat Cops“). The film’s theme song has also been announced as “800” by female pop singer Aimer and is played during the trailer. The trailer begins with a voice stating “Do you really know the people who you meet by swiping (on your dating app)?”

“Matching” will be released February 23, 2024 in Japan.

Main trailer for Disney+ drama “Dragons of Wonder Hatch”

Main trailer added for Disney+ drama series “Dragons of Wonder Hatch” starring Sena Nakajima, Daiken Okudaira, & Mackenyu Arata. The trailer begins with narration that states “This is a story for you who is far away.” The drama series features a mixture of live-action and animation and tells a story set in the real world and a fantasy world where dragon riders live. The series itself will consist of 8 episodes. The first two episodes will be released December 20, 2023 and two more episodes will be released December 27, 2023 and then one episode per week will be released until its conclusion.

Mei Nagano and Fumiya Takahashi cast in movie “Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san”

Mei Nagano and Fumiya Takahashi are cast in live-action film “Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san.” The movie is based on manga series “Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san” by Soichiro Yamamoto and is a sequel to TBS drama series “Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san” that will air next March. The movie will be set 10 years after the drama series and have the two main characters, who are now adults, working as teachers at the same middle school. Director Rikiya Imaizumi directs both the drama series and the live-action film.

“Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san” will be released May 31, 2024 in Japan.
