Yuko Araki cast in WOWOW drama “The Confession of the Sirens”

Yuko Araki is cast for the lead role in WOWOW drama series “The Confession of the Sirens” (literal title). The drama series is based on 2016 novel “Sirens no Zange” by Shichiri Nakayama (“The Hippocratic Oath“), while Yuji Nakamae and Shosuke Murakami will direct the drama series. Yuko Araki will play Reporter Takami Asakura, who works for a news program that’s about to be cancelled. She chases after a kidnapping case in hopes of saving the news program.

“The Confession of the Sirens” will consist of 4 episodes and first air October 18, 2020 (slots into WOWOW’s Sunday 10PM time slot previously held by “The Sun Does Not Move“).

Actor Haruma Miura passes away on July 18, 2020

Actor Haruma Miura was found deceased at his home around 1PM on July 18, 2020 in Minato, Tokyo. He was found hanging and was transferred to a hospital, but he was later pronounced dead. The police are investigating his death under the assumption that he took his own life. A suicide note was also found nearby. Haruma Miura was a popular actor that appeared in many popular movies and drama series including “Sky of Love,” “Attack on Titan,” and “Samurai Seventeen.” Condolences goes out to his family and friends.

Mayu Matsuoka & Haruma Miura cast in TBS drama “Love Will Begin When Money End”

Mayu Matsuoka and Haruma Miura are cast in TBS drama series “Love Will Begin When Money End” (literal title of “Okane no Kireme ga Koi no Hajimari”). The drama series features an original screenplay by Satomi Oshima (“Nagi’s Long Vacation“). Shohei Miura and Takumi Kitamura are also cast in supporting roles. The drama series is a romantic-comedy revolving around a thrifty woman who works in the accounting company of a toy manufacturing company and a free spending young man.

“Love Will Begin When Money End” first airs September, 2020 in Japan (takes over TBS’ Tuesday 10PM time slot after “My Housekeeper Mr. Nagisa“).

Kou Shibasaki cast in NTV drama “35-Year-Old Girl”

Kou Shibasaki is cast for the lead role in NTV drama series “35-Year-Old Girl” (literal title of “35sai no Shojo”). The drama series features an original screenplay by Kazuhiko Yukawa and directed by Ryuichi Inomata. The pair have worked on several NTV drama series together, with “I’m Mita, Your Housekeeper” being one of their more memorable works.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: A daughter, Nozomi Imamura (Kou Shibasaki), returns after 25 years. She is still like a 10 year old kid.

Supporting cast announced for NHK drama series “Seiten wo Tsuke”

Supporting cast announced for NHK drama series “Seiten wo Tsuke” starring Ryo Yoshizawa. The 20 newly announced performers are Kaoru Kobayashi, Emi Wakui, Eri Murakawa, Ryoko Fujino, Kengo Kora, Riko Narumi, Seiichi Tanabe, Shinnosuke Mitsushima, Ai Hashimoto, Kenshi Okada, Sei Hiraizumi, Mayumi Asaka, Naoto Takenaka, Ikkei Watanabe, Kanji Tsuda, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, Shinichi Tsutsumi, Yoshino Kimura, Mitsuru Hirata, and Hiroshi Tamaki.  “Seiten wo Tsuke” is NHK’s 60th taiga drama series and revolves around the life of Eiichi Shibusawa (played by Ryo Yoshizawa). He became known as the father of Japanese capitalism. Among the supporting characters, Ai Hashimoto will play Chiyo Odaka. Eiichi Shibusawa liked her since he was a child and they eventually became husband and wife.

“Seiten wo Tsuke” will during 2021 in Japan.

Haru & Kyoka Suzuki cast in TV Asahi drama “Women Document Detectives Season 2”

Haru and Kyoka Suzuki are cast in TV Asahi drama series “Women Document Detectives Season 2.” The two women will reprise their detectives roles from 2018 drama series “Women Document Detectives.” Also cast in the drama series for supporting roles are: Ikki Sawamura, Asuka Kudo, Takaya Yamauchi, Junji Takada and Kenichi Endo. All five of these actors will also reprise their roles from the first season.
