Motoki Nakazawa and Toranosuke Kobayashi cast in TV Tokyo drama “I Hear the Sunspot”

Motoki Nakazawa and Toranosuke Kobayashi are cast in TV Tokyo live-action drama series “I Hear the Sunspot” (literal title). The drama series is based on manga series “Hidamari ga Kikoeru” by Yuki Akaneda, which was previously adapted into 2017 movie “Silhouette of Your Voice” starring Hideya Tawada and Akira Onodera. In the upcoming TV Tokyo version, Motoki Nakazawa and Toranosuke Kobayashi will play two university students who strike up a friendship that grows into something more.

“I Hear the Sunspot” first airs July 3, 2024 in Japan (takes over TV Tokyo’s Wednesday 24:30 time slot after “Sukina Otoko to Wakaretai“).

Teaser poster and release date for movie “The Daechi Scandal”

Teaser poster and release date set for movie “The Daechi Scandal” starring Ahn So-Hee and Park Sang-Nam. The film, similar to currently airing tvN drama series “The Midnight Romance in Hagwon,” is set in the Daechi neighborhood of Gangnam and at a private institute. Ahn So-Hee plays private institute instructor Yoon-Im and Park Sang-Nam plays middle school teacher Ki-Haeng. Caption on the teaser poster states “Why didn’t we be honest with each other then?”

“The Daechi Scandal” will be released June, 2024 in South Korea.

Teaser posters for movie “Project Silence”

Here’s two teaser posters for upcoming disaster-action film “Project Silence” starring Lee Sun-Kyun, Ju Ji-Hoon, & Kim Hee-Won. The film directed by Kim Tae-Gon (“Familyhood“) and co-scripted by Kim Yong-Hwa (“Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds“), takes place on a foggy airport bridge where series of car crashes strands survivors on the severely damaged bridge. The military were also secretly transporting dogs from their Project Silence. The film held its world premiere last year at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival and will have its domestic premiere July, 2024.

Haruka Fukuhara cast in NTV drama “Maruhi no Mitsuko-san”

Haruka Fukuhara is cast in NTV drama series “Maruhi no Mitsuko-san.” The original screenplay will have Haruka Fukuhara play mysterious total coordinator Mitsuko Motomiya. She goes all out for her clients to make them successful. She then works with a client named Natsu Imai.

“Maruhi no Mitsuko-san” will first air July 13, 2024 (takes over NTV’s Saturday 10PM time slot after “Rise for the Town“).

Ai Iinuma and Yusei Yagi cast in TV Asahi drama “Minami-kun ga Koibito”

Ai Iinuma and Yusei Yagi are cast in TV Asahi live-action drama series “Minami-kun ga Koibito.” The drama series is based on manga series “Minami kun no Koibito” by Shungiku Uchida, which has been previously adapted into 1994 TV Asahi drama series “Minami’s Girl,” 2004 TV Asahi drama series “Minami’s Girlfriend,” and 2015 Fuji TV drama series “Minami kun no Koibito: My Little Lover.” The new TV Asahi drama series will change things up with the lead male character shrinking in size to 15 cm height rather than the lead female character in the original manga series and previous live-action adaptations. In addition, Yoshikazu Okada writes the screenplay adaption for the new drama series and he previously wrote the screenplay adaption for the 1994 TV Asahi drama series.

“Minami-kun ga Koibito” will be released July, 2024 in Japan (takes over TV Asahi’s Tuesday 9PM time slot after “Destiny“).

Main trailer and teaser posters for movie “Escape”

Main trailer and teaser posters for movie “Escape” starring Lee Je-Hoon & Koo Kyo-Hwan. The film, directed by Lee Jong-Pil (“Lee Jong-Pil“), follows North Korean soldier Im Kyu-Nam (Lee Je-Hoon) as he tries to flee the country and is chased by Officer Ri Hyun-Sang (Koo Kyo-Hwan). Caption on Lee Je-Hoon’s teaser poster states “It isn’t running away. It’s going my own way” and caption on Koo Kyo-Hwan’s teaser poster states “Accept it. This is your fate.”

Narration in the main trailer starts with Koo Kyo-Hwan stating “Kyu-Nam, you are not the kind of person that can escape” and then at the 11 second mark “I know that you accept the fate given to you.” At the 23 second mark, Hong Sa-Bin asks “You’re going to South Korea aren’t you?.” Lee Je-Hoon at the 30 second mark states “You must be crazy from starvation” and (0:34) “Now is not the right time.” The trailer ends with Koo Kyo-Hwan stating (1:19) “No one can escape from here” and Lee Je-Hoon stating (1:35) “I have decided my future.”

“Escape” will be released July 3, 2024 in South Korea.

Starring cast and first teaser trailer for movie “Hero’s Island”

Satoshi Tsumabuki, Suzu Hirose, Masataka Kubota, & Eita Nagayama are cast in movie “Hero’s Island.” Movie is based on 2018 novel “Takarajima” by Junjo Shindo and directed by Keishi Ohtomo (“Rurouni Kenshin“). The film follows four people who were friends growing up in Okinawa after the war. They would raid the nearby U.S. military to steal supplies, but one time their friend On (Eita Nagayama) was chased by U.S. soldiers and disappeared. The other friends still look into his disappearance as adults. Meanwhile, the first teaser trailer for the movie has also been added on AsianWiki.

“Hero’s Island” will be released sometime next year in Japan.

Jung Kyoung-Ho cast in MBC drama “Labor Attorney No Mu-Jin”

Jung Kyoung-Ho is cast in new MBC drama series “Labor Attorney No Mu-Jin.” The original screenplay is scripted by Kim Bo-Tong (“D.P.“) & Yoo Seung-Hee (“I Can Speak“) and will have well known movie director Yim Soonrye (“Forever the Moment“) directing her first drama series. Genre for the drama series will feature a mixture of fantasy, comedy, and drama. For Jung Kyoung-Ho, he will play main character No Mu-Jin. He works as a labor attorney, but he doesn’t have a sense of justice. No Mu-Jin somehow begins working on labor cases for ghosts.

” Labor Attorney No Mu-Jin” will air sometime next year in South Korea.

Son Hyun-Joo & Kim Myung-Min cast in ENA drama “Your Honor”

Son Hyun-Joo & Kim Myung-Min are cast in ENA drama series “Your Honor.” The drama series will be directed by Yoo Jong-Sun (“Descendants of the Sun“) and scripted by Kim Jae-Hwan (“Boyhood“). In “Your Honor,” two fathers will face off after they become monsters for their children. Son Hyun-Joo will play Judge Song Pan-Ho and Kim Myung-Min will play crime boss Kim Gang-Heon.

“Your Honor” will first air sometime this summer in South Korea (takes over ENA’s Monday & Tuesday 10PM time slot after “Crash“).
