Koki Tanaka and Hideya Tawada are cast in TV Asahi live-action drama series “Sugar Dog Life.” The drama series is based on BL manga “Sugar Dog Life” by Yoriko. Story for “Sugar Dog Life” will revolve around a convenience store part time worker played by Koki Tanaka and a police officer played by Hideya Tawada. They meet through a misunderstanding.

“Sugar Dog Life” first airs August 3, 2024 in Japan.

Go Ayano and Etsushi Toyokawa cast in Netflix drama “Tokyo Swindlers”

Go Ayano and Etsushi Toyokawa are cast for lead roles in Netflix drama series “Tokyo Swindlers.” The drama series is based on 2019 novel “Jimenshitachi” by Ko Shinjo, which is inspired by a real life incident, and directed by Hitoshi One (“Tada’s Do-It-All House“). Both Go Ayano and Etsushi Toyokawa will play con artists in the drama series. They are involved in impersonating land owners and fake selling property to steal money. “Tokyo Swindlers” will consist of 7 episodes and will be available to stream July 25, 2024.

Lee Se-Young and Na In-Woo are cast in MBC drama series “Motel California.” The romance drama series is based on 2019 novel “Home, Bitter Home” by Sim Yoon-Seo and screenplay adaptation written by Lee Seo-Yoon (“365: Repeat The Year“). For actor Na In-Woo, “Motel California” will be his last acting performance before he enlists in the South Korean military later this year.

Trailer and poster added for upcoming live-action film “Honeko Akabane’s Bodyguards” (literal title) starring Raul and Natsuki Deguchi. Movie is based on manga series “Akabane Honeko no Bodyguard” by Masamitsu Nigatsu and directed by Junichi Ishikawa (“Mixed Doubles“). The movie’s theme song has also been announced, which is “Breakout” by boy band Snow Man. Lead actor Raul is a member of Snow Man as well. The theme song “Breakout” plays during the main trailer. Caption on the poster states “We will protect Honeko Akabane even at the cost of our lives.”

Lead actresses announced for TV Asahi drama “SKY Castle.”

Nao Matsushita, Fumino Kimura, Manami Higa, Maryjun Takahashi, and Koyuki are cast in TV Asahi drama series “SKY Castle.” The drama series is a remake of 2018 JTBC drma series “SKY Castle.” The screenplay adaptation for the remake is written by Hiroshi Hashimoto (“A Family Goes Job Hunting“) and will be directed by Naomi TamuraYuji Nakamae, and Kazunari Hoshino. Nao Matsushita, Fumino Kimura, Manami Higa, Maryjun Takahashi will play mothers who live with within the exclusive SKY CASTLE neighborhood and compete to get their children into the top school. Koyuki will play Ayaka Kujo. She is a private instructor who charges an outrageous rate, but has a 100% success rate.

Shin Hae-Sun and Lee Jin-Uk cast in romance drama “To My Haeri”

Shin Hae-Sun and Lee Jin-Uk are cast in romance drama series “To My Haeri” (literal title). The healing romance screenplay is written by Han Ga-Ram (“When the Weather is Fine“) and directed by Jung Ji-Hyun (“Twenty Five Twenty One“). For Shin Hae-Sun, she will play a woman with two personalities named Joo Eun-Ho and Joo Hye-Ri. Lee Jin-Uk will play popular announcer Jung Hyun-O, who also carries a deep emotional wound.

“To My Haeri” is expected to air sometime in the second half of this year in South Korea.

Actress Non is cast for the lead role in movie “The Hotel of my Dream” (literal title). The movie is based on 2012 novel “Watashi ni Fusawashi Hotel” by Asako Yuzuki (“The Many Faces of Ito“) and directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi (“Trick: The Movie“). The comedy film is largely set at the Hilltop Hotel in Tokyo, where filming took place in February, 2024.
