Teaser trailer for live-action TBS-MBS drama series “Kakegurui Season 2”

Teaser trailer added for upcoming live-action TBS-MBS drama series “Kakegurui Season 2” starring Minami Hamabe, Mahiro Takasugi and Elaiza Ikeda. Drama series is a sequel to 2018 TBS-MBS drama series “Kakegurui” and based on manga series “Kakegurui” by Homura Kawamoto & Toru Naomura. A live-action feature film version “Kakegurui The Movie” will be released May, 2019 after the sequel drama series.

“Kakegurui Season 2” first airs March 31, 2019 in Japan.

Teaser trailer for SBS drama series “Big Issue”

First teaser trailer added for SBS drama series “Big Issue” starring Joo Jin-Mo and Han Ye-Seul. The brief voice over by Han Ye-Seul in the teaser trailer states in Korean “Someone is taking a picture of you. Big Issue.”

Meanwhile, below is the first still images of Joo Jin-Mo in the upcoming drama series. This scene was filmed on January 15, 2019 at Seoul Station in South Korea. Joo Jin-Mo’s character of Han Seok-Joo was once a photographer, but he became homeless. He is then hired by an editor (Han Ye-Seul) of a paparazzi  magazine. This scene shows him when he was homeless.

“Big Issue” first airs March 6, 2019.

Teaser trailer & two teaser posters for movie “Newspaper Reporter”

Teaser trailer and two teaser posters for movie “Newspaper Reporter” (literal title) starring Shim Eun-Kyung and Tori Matsuzaka. Movie is based on nonfiction novel “Shinbun Kisha” by journalist Isoko Mochizuki and directed by Michihito Fujii (“Day and Night“). This is the first time South Korean actress Shim Eun-Kyung has appeared in a Japanese film. Caption on the first poster asks in Japanese “Can you believe this movie?” and caption on the second poster teases “Just now, into the darkness.”

“Newspaper Reporter” is now set for release June 28, 2019 in Japan.

Yoon Hyun-Min & Ko Sung-Hee cast in Netflix drama series “I Holo You”

Yoon Hyun-Min and Ko Sung-Hee are now cast in new Netflix drama series “I Holo You” (literal title). Yoon Hyun-Min will play 2 different characters in the drama series. He will play Nan-Do who is a genius inventor and the other character is hologram AI Holo. Ko Sung-Hee will play a lonely who meets the hologram. Drama series will be directed by Lee Sang-Yeob (“Familiar Wife“) and scripted by Ryoo Yong-Jae (“Pied Piper“).

Release date for the drama series has yet to be announced.

Masahiro Higashide & Yutaka Matsushige cast in WOWOW drama series “Villain: Perpetrator Chase Investigation”

Masahiro Higashide and Yutaka Matsushige cast in WOWOW drama series “Villain: Perpetrator Chase Investigation” (literal title of “Akutou: Kagaisha Tsuiseki Chousa”). The drama series is based on novel “Akutou” by Gaku Yakumaru and directed by Takahisa Zeze. Takahisa Zeze previously directed 2018 feature film “My Friend A” which is also based on a novel by Gaku Yakumaru. Actress Yua Shinkawa is also cast in a supporting role for the drama series.

“Villain: Perpetrator Chase Investigation” will first air May, 2019 in Japan and consists of 6 episodes.

Teaser trailer #2 for OCN drama series “Kill It”

Teaser trailer #2 added for upcoming OCN drama series “Kill It” starring Chang Ki-Yong and Nana. Teaser trailer #2 again features Chang Ki-Yong as assassin Kim Soo-Hyun. While he looks to take out a target, a voice over by Chang Ki-Yong states in Korean “Life is all precious, if it’s not the target.”

Meanwhile, actor Lee Jae-Won is cast to play supporting character Philip An for the drama series. Philip An is best friends with Kim Soo-Hyun (Chang Ki-Yong) and he is a broker.

“Kill It” will first air March 16, 2019 in South Korea.

Erika Sawajiri cast in TV Asahi drama series “The Great White Tower”

Erika Sawajiri is cast in TV Asahi drama series “The Great White Tower” (literal title) co-starring Junichi Okada, Kenichi Matsuyama and Akira Terao. The drama series is based on 1963 novel “Shiroi Kyoto” by Toyoko Yamasaki. Several drama series and movies were already adapted from the novel. In the drama series, Erika Sawajiri plays Keiko Hanamori . She is the girlfriend of surgeon Goro Zaizen (Junichi Okada) and she works at a hostess bar.

“The Great White Tower” will air sometime this year in Japan.

First script reading for SBS drama series “Big Issue”

First script reading for SBS drama series “Big Issue” took place December 17, 2018 at SBS Ilsan Production Center in Tanhyun, South Korea. Joo Jin-Mo, Han Ye-Seul, Shin So-Yul and Choi Song-Hyun were among the cast members that attended the first script reading. The drama series revolves around Han Seok-Joo played by Joo Jin-Mo and Ji Soo-Hyun played by Han Ye-Seul. Han Seok-Joo was once a photographer for a top newspaper, but his career and personal life collapsed. Ji Soo-Hyun is the chief editor of a celebrity magazine and she hires Han Seok-Joo as a photographer.

“Big Issue” first airs March 6, 2019 in South Korea (takes over SBS’ Wednesday and Thursday 10 PM time slot after “The Last Empress.”).

Filming for Netflix drama series “Kingdom Season 2” begins

Filming for Netflix sequel drama series “Kingdom Season 2” began February 12, 2019. Prior to filming, the traditional gosa ceremony to bring about good fortune and the first script reading took place February 8, 2019. At the script reading, main cast members Ju Ji-Hoon, Bae Doo-Na, Ryoo Seung-Ryong and new performers for season 2 Park Byung-Eun and Kim Tae-Hoon were in attendance among others. Season 1 of “Kingdom” premiered on January 25, 2019 and told the story of zombies the plagued Joseon era South Korea. When “Kingdom Season 2” will premiere has yet to be announced.

Tadayoshi Okura & Ryo Narita cast in live-action film “The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese”

Tadayoshi Okura (‘Kanjani Eight’) and Ryo Narita cast in live-action film “The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese” (literal title). The film is based on manga “Kyuso wa Chizu no Yume wo Miru” by Setona Mizushiro (“Heartbroken Chocolatier“/”Poison Berry in My Brain“). Movie will be directed by Isao Yukisada and screenplay adaptation by Anne Horiizumi. The film, true to the original manga, falls squarely in the yaoi (boy’s love) genre and follows a married man who is propositioned by another man. In return for having an intimate relationship with him, he offers not to tell the married man’s wife about his affairs.

“The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese” will be released sometime during 2020 in Japan.
