Park Hae-Jin cast in MBC drama series “Old School Intern”

Park Hae-Jin is cast in MBC drama series “Old School Intern” (literal title). Actress Han Ji-Eun is currently considering an offer to play the lead female role and veteran actor Kim Eung-Soo is considering a major supporting character role. For the drama series, Park Hae-Jin will play Ka Yeol-Chan. He is an ambitious and successful executive at a ramen company. He gets paired with a senior intern, who was his old boss at his first job. Park Hae-Jin is currently starring in KBS2 drama series “Forest.”

Plot synopsis by AsianWiki: After graduation, Ka Yeol-Chan (Park Hae-Jin) landed his first job at a company. His boss there, Lee Man-Shik, was a “kkondae” which refers to a rigid, old school type of person. He would force his old school ways of thinking on Ka Yeol-Chan. Due to Lee Man-Sik and his old school ways of thinking, Ka Yeol-Chan quit his job there. Ka Yeol-Chan then found a job at a ramen company. He worked very hard and was promoted unusually quickly, due to his radical planning and aggressive marketing. Ka Yeol-Chan now works as the chief of the sales and marketing department at the ramen company. His position actually wields the most power in the company. One day, Ka Yeol-Chan gets a senior age intern. That intern is Lee Man-Shik, who gave him such a hard time at his first job.

“Old School Intern” first airs May, 2020 in South Korea (takes over MBC’s Wednesday & Thursday 9 PM time slot after “Memoir of the Man“).

Jin Se-Yun cast in KBS2 drama series “Born Again”

Jin Se-Yun is cast in KBS2 drama series “Born Again” co-starring Chang Ki-Yong & Lee Soo-Hyuk. Like the two male leads, Jin Se-Yun will play two different characters. She will play Jung Ha-Eun in the 1980’s and Jung Sa-Bin in the present day. Jung Ha-Eun suffers from dilated cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart) and runs a bookstore. Jung Sa-Bin in the present day is an archaeologist.

“Born Again” will first air April, 2020 (slots into KBS2’s Monday and Tuesday 10PM time slot).

Mirai Moriyama, Takumi Kitamura & Ryo Katsuji cast in movie “Underdog”

Mirai Moriyama, Takumi Kitamura & Ryo Katsuji are cast in boxing film “Underdog.” The movie is scripted by Shin Adachi and directed by Masaharu Take. The duo of screenwriter Shin Adachi and director Masaharu Take has collaborated on several films and drama series, most notably in this case with “100 Yen Love,” which is also a boxing film. Filming for “Underdog” began January 6, 2020 and its currently still ongoing. This is the first time Mirai Moriyama has played a boxer and he took boxing lessons for more than 6 months prior to filming of the movie.

Plot synopsis by AsianWiki: “Underdog” follows three boxers who are all underdogs. Akira Suenaga (Mirai Moriyama) is a boxer, who struggles to succeed as a boxer. Ryuta Omura (Takumi Kitamura) is a young boxer, who grew up in an orphanage. Shun Miyagi (Ryo Katsuji) challenges a boxer, following the plans of a TV program.

Yuya Yagira is cast in NTV live-action drama series “Nigatsu no Shosha: Zettai Gokaku no Kyoshitsu.” The drama series is based on manga series “Nigatsu no Shosha: Zettai Gokaku no Kyoshitsu” by Shiho Takase. Shiho Takase previously had another manga series “Otoriyose Oji Iida Yoshimi” adapted into 2013 Nagoya TV drama series “Otoriyose Oji Iida Yoshimi.” In this drama series, Yuya Yagira will play Kurodo Kuroki. He becomes the director of a poor performing children’s cram school.

Plot synopsis by AsianWiki: Kurodo Kuroki (Yuya Yagira) was an extremely competent teacher at a prestigious cram school for the middle school entrance exam. He begins to work as the director of a cram school with poor performance. He declares that the students here will pass their middle school examinations. Sota Fukushi & Rio Uchida are cast for lead roles in NHK drama series “Meiji Kaika: Shinjuro Tanteicho.” The drama series is based on 1950’s novel “Meiji Kaika Ango Torimonocho” by Ango Sakaguchi (“A Woman and War“). Yuji Oda & Yuto Nakajima cast in Fuji TV drama series “Suits Season 2”

Yuji Oda and Yuto Nakajima (‘Hey! Say! JUMP’) are cast in Fuji TV drama series “Suits Season 2.” The drama series is a remake of U.S. cable TV series “Suits Season 2,” which aired on USA Network from June 14, 2012 to February 21, 2013. Yuji Oda and Yuto Nakajima will reprise their respective characters of Shogo Kai and Daiki Suzuki from season 1 of “Suits.”

Plot synopsis by AsianWiki: Shogo Kai (Yuji Oda) is a partner at a law firm in Marunouchi, Tokyo. He brings back Daiki Suzuki (Yuto Nakajima) to his law firm from Boston. Shogo Kai then assigns Daiki Suzuki to a case. The case involves a large publishing company as they are sued by a former contract worker. The former contract worker insists her idea for a novel was stolen by the publishing company.

Filming for “Suits Season 2” will begin early February, 2020 and the drama series will air from April, 2020 in Japan.
