Kou Shibasaki cast in NTV drama “35-Year-Old Girl”

Kou Shibasaki is cast for the lead role in NTV drama series “35-Year-Old Girl” (literal title of “35sai no Shojo”). The drama series features an original screenplay by Kazuhiko Yukawa and directed by Ryuichi Inomata. The pair have worked on several NTV drama series together, with “I’m Mita, Your Housekeeper” being one of their more memorable works.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: A daughter, Nozomi Imamura (Kou Shibasaki), returns after 25 years. She is still like a 10 year old kid.

Supporting cast announced for NHK drama series “Seiten wo Tsuke”

Supporting cast announced for NHK drama series “Seiten wo Tsuke” starring Ryo Yoshizawa. He became known as the father of Japanese capitalism. Among the supporting characters, Ai Hashimoto will play Chiyo Odaka. Eiichi Shibusawa liked her since he was a child and they eventually became husband and wife.

Sosuke Ikematsu, Joe Odagiri, & Choi Hee-Seo cast in movie “Angel of Asia”

Sosuke Ikematsu, Joe Odagiri, and Choi Hee-Seo are cast in movie “Angel of Asia” (literal title of “Asia no Tenshi”). The film is written and directed by Yuya Ishii. Filming for the movie was done entirely in South Korea from February to March, 2020. “Angel of Asia” is expected to be released spring, 2021 in South Korea and sometime during 2021 in Japan. Sosuke Ikematsu will play Takeshi Aoki, Joe Odagiri will play his older brother who lives in South Korea, and Choi Hee-Seo will play Choi Seol.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Takeshi Aoki (Sosuke Ikematsu) lives with his 8 years old son Manabu. His wife died from an illness. He has an older brother (Joe Odagiri), but they became estranged. Takeshi Aoki and his son Manabu travel to Seoul, South Korea where his older brother lives. His older brother is not doing well at all, unlike Takeshi’s expectation. His older brother practically lives from hand to mouth. Even though Takeshi is unable to speak Korean, he needs to help his brother’s work, which is to import and sell cosmetics of dubious quality.

Meanwhile, Choi Seol (Choi Hee-Seo) sings a song on the stage at a traditional market, which nobody listens to. Due to the CEO of her management agency, she is unable to sing her own song. She also has problems with her older brother and younger sister.

Takeshi and his older brother get involved with Choi Seol.

Trailer & poster for movie “Your Eyes Tell”

Main trailer and poster added for movie “Your Eyes Tell” starring Yuriko Yoshitaka and Ryusei Yokohama. The movie is a remake of 2011 South Korean film “Always” starring So Ji-Sub and Han Hyo-Joo. Meanwhile, the movie’s theme song has been revealed which is “Your Eyes Tell” by popular boy band BTS. Jeon Jung-Kook, the youngest member of BTS, was touched by the film and participating in composing the song as well. “Your Eyes Tell” is also included on their next Japanese album “Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~” which drops July 15, 2020.

Koji Yakusho cast in movie “Under The Open Sky”

Koji Yakusho is cast in movie “Under The Open Sky.” The film is based on 1990 novel “Mibuncho” by Ryuzo Saki (“Vengeance Is Mine“) and directed by Miwa Nishikawa (“Sway“). The film has also cast Taiga NakanoIsao HashizumeMeiko KajiSeiji RokkakuYukiya KitamuraMasami Nagasawa, and Narumi Yasuda for supporting roles. Haru & Kyoka Suzuki cast in TV Asahi drama “Women Document Detectives Season 2”

Haru and Kyoka Suzuki are cast in TV Asahi drama series “Women Document Detectives Season 2.” The two women will reprise their detectives roles from 2018 drama series “Women Document Detectives.” Also cast in the drama series for supporting roles are: Ikki SawamuraAsuka KudoTakaya YamauchiJunji Takada and Kenichi Endo. All five of these actors will also reprise their roles from the first season.
