Kanata Hongo & Kana Osawa cast in TV Tokyo “Mei no Mei”

Kanata Hongo and Kana Osawa are cast in TV Tokyo drama series “Mei no Mei.” The drama series features an original screenplay by Yasuhiro Ogawa and directed by Yasuhiko Shimizu & Ryoma Ouchida. Both of the directors previously worked together in 2020 Fuji TV drama series “Pension: Love Is Pink.” For “Mei no Mei,” Kanata Hongo will play 32 year old Ozu who was born and raised in Tokyo. After his sister and his brother-in-law die in a car accident, he decides to temporarily move in with his niece, played by Kana Osawa, in Fukushima Prefecture.

“Mei no Mei” first airs September 7, 2023 in Japan.

Rie Miyazawa cast in movie “Tsuki”

Rie Miyazawa is cast for the lead role in movie “Tsuki.” Also cast for the film are Hayato Isomura, Fumi Nikaido, Joe Odagiri, Eri Nagai, Hirota Otsuka, Hideyuki Kasahara, Yuka Itaya, Morooka Moro, Shingo Tsurumi, Hideko Hara, & Atsuko Takahata. The movie is based on 2017 novel “Tsuki” by Yo Hemmi and directed by Yuya Ishii (“The Great Passage“). For the movie “Tsuki,” Rie Miyazawa will play Yoko Dojima. She begins to work at a facility for the severely disabled.

“Tsuki” will be released October 13, 2023 in Japan.

Trailer and poster for movie “Revolver Lily”

Trailer and poster added for action film “Revolver Lily” starring Haruka Ayase. Movie is based on 2016 novel “Revolver Lily” by Kyo Nagaura and directed by Isao Yukisada (“Narratage“). The film is set in the year 1924 and follows a former spy now bar owner Yuri (Haruka Ayase) who becomes the target of 1,000 soldiers. Caption on the poster states “I become evil to save the future.”

“Revolver Lily” will be released August 11, 2023 in Japan.

Newly announced cast members for Netflix drama series “Squid Game S2”

More cast members have been announced for highly anticipated Netflix drama series “Squid Game S2.” The newly announced cast members are Park Gyu-Young, Lee Jin-Uk, Won Ji-An, T.O.P, Jo Yuri, Kang Ae-Shim, David Lee, and Roh Jae-Won. They will join already announced cast members Lee Jung-Jae, Lee Byung-Hun, Wi Ha-Joon, Gong Yoo, Im Si-Wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-Hoon, & Yang Dong-Geun. The first script reading for the sequel drama series took place June 23, 2023 and filming will start in the second half of this year.

Release date for “Squid Game S2” has not yet been announced.

Teaser trailer and poster for movie “Fly Me To The Saitama II”

Teaser trailer and poster added for movie “Fly Me To The Saitama II” starring Gackt & Fumi Nikaido. Movie is based on manga series “Tonde Saitama” by Mineo Maya and a sequel to 2019 movie “Fly Me To The Saitama,” but the screenplay for “Fly Me To The Saitama II” will feature an original story. The sequel will have Gackt return as Asami and Fumi Nikaido as Momomi Hakuhodo. Thanks to these two lead characters, the area of Saitama Prefecture enjoy freedom from Tokyoites, but a new case draws in the area of Kansai.

“Fly Me To The Saitama II” will be released November 23, 2023 in Japan.

Air date set for SBS drama “The First Responders 2”

SBS drama series “The First Responders 2,” starring Kim Rae-Won, Son Ho-Jun, & Gong Seung-Yeon, will first air August 4, 2023 in South Korea. The drama series will take over SBS’ Friday and Saturday 10PM time slot after the conclusion of currently airing drama series “Revenant.” “The First Responders 2” is a sequel to 2022 SBS drama series “The First Responders,” where a neighboring police department and fire department cooperated on cases with the lives of troubled people at stake. It has been revealed for “The First Responders 2,” that the National Forensic Service will also work with the police and fire departments to catch villains that are the worst of the worst.

Teaser trailer for tvN drama “The Uncanny Counter 2”

“Counter” teaser trailer added for tvN drama series “The Uncanny Counter 2” starring Joe Byeong-Gyu, Yu Jun-Sang, & Kim Se-Jeong. The drama series is a sequel to 2020 OCN drama series “The Uncanny Counter” and will have Yoo In-Soo play new counter member Na Jeok-Bong. The new teaser trailer has Yoo In-Soo’s voice at the 18 second mark asking “Counter? What is that?,” and Joe Byeong-Gyu responds with “We need to be faster and stronger than now to catch them.”

“The Uncanny Counter 2” first airs July 29, 2023 in South Korea (takes over tvN’s Saturday & Sunday 9:20 PM time slot after “See You in My 19th Life“).
