Trailer and poster for movie “Gobangiri”

Trailer and poster added for movie “Gobangiri” starring Tsuyoshi Kusanagi and Kaya Kiyohara. The film is set during the Edo period and follows former samurai Kakunoshin Yanagida (Tsuyoshi Kusanagi), who now lives in poverty with his daughter Kinu (Kaya Kiyohara). When he finds out the truth behind his wife’s death, he decides to take revenge. Movie is directed by Kazuya Shiraishi (“The Devil’s Path“).

“Gobangiri” will be released May 17, 2024 in Japan.

Lee Min-Ki, Kwak Sun-Young, Heo Sung-Tae cast in ENA drama “Crash”

Lee Min-Ki, Kwak Sun-Young, Heo Sung-Tae are cast for lead roles in ENA drama series “Crash.” Also cast in the drama series are Lee Ho-Cheol & Moon-Hee. All five of the announced actors will play members of a TCI (Traffic Crime Investigation) team. The drama series will be directed by Park Joon-Woo, who previously worked on another popular automotive based drama series with “Taxi Driver.”

“Crash” will first air May, 2024 in ENA’s Monday and Tuesday 10 PM time slot.

Sara Kozawa cast in TV Asahi drama “JK to Roppouzensho”

Sara Kozawa is cast in TV Asahi drama series “JK to Roppouzensho.” The drama series will have Sara Kozawa play high school student Miyabi Sakuragi. She passes her bar exam as a teenager and begins to work for her grandmother at her law firm. She tries to keep her lawyer work a secret at her new high school, but she eventually provides guidance on law matters to people there.

“JK to Roppouzensho” first airs April, 2024 in Japan.

Meru Nukumi cast in TBS drama “Dare ga Watashi to Koi wo Shita”

Meru Nukumi is cast for the lead role in TBS drama series “Dare ga Watashi to Koi wo Shita.” The romantic-comedy/mystery drama series is scripted by Tomoko Yoshizawa (“Is Love Sustainable?“) and directed by Aya Matsuki (“18/40: Unbreakable Bond of Dreams“). For “Dare ga Watashi to Koi wo Shita,” Meru Nukumi will play 24-year-old Makoto Ogata. She gets into an accident that causes her to lose her memory. In her possession, she has a male ring she was going to give as a present, but she doesn’t remember who the recipient is. Three men appear in front her.

“Dare ga Watashi to Koi wo Shita” will first air April, 2024 in Japan (takes over TBS’ Tuesday 10 PM time slot after “Eye Love You“).

Teaser trailer & poster for movie “Kingdom 4”

Teaser trailer and poster added for movie “Kingdom 4” starring Kento Yamazaki. The film is a straight continuation of “Kingdom 3” and is based on manga series “Kingdom” by Yasuhisa Hara. The teaser trailer starts off with Kento Yamazaki as Shin laying on the battle field and clearly rattled. General Ohki (Takao Osawa) stands nearby and asks him “Is it tough Shin?” Caption on the teaser poster states “An unforgettable battle begins.”

“Kingdom 4” will be released  July 12, 2024.

Tori Matsuzaka, Koji Yakusho, & Kyoko Yoshine cast in movie “Yuki no Hana”

Tori Matsuzaka, Koji Yakusho, & Kyoko Yoshine are cast in movie “Yuki no Hana.” Movie is based on 1988 non-fiction novel “Yuki no Hana” by Akira Yoshimura and directed by Takashi Koizumi (“A Samurai Chronicle“). Tori Matsuzaka will play lead character Ryosaku Kasahara. Set during the late Edo period, Ryosaku Kasahar works relentlessly on a way to prevent the outbreak of smallpox. Koji Yukusho will play Teisai Hino, who is a fellow doctor, and Kyoko Yoshine will play the lead character’s wife Chiho Kasahara. For Tori Matsuzaka and Koji Yakusho, this will mark their 5th time working together.

“Yuki no Hana” will be released  January 24, 2025 in Japan.

Choi Woo-Sik, Park Bo-Young cast in Netflix drama “Melo Movie”

Choi Woo-Sik, Park Bo-Young, Lee Jun-Young, & Jeon So-Nee are cast in Netflix drama series “Melo Movie.” The drama series is scripted by Lee Na-Eun (“Our Beloved Summer“) and directed by Oh Choong-Hwan (“Castaway Diva“). Setup for the drama series will revolve around four young people who have ties to the entertainment industry. Choi Woo-Sik will play Go Gyeom. He made the jump from a minor actor to a movie critic due to his love of movies in general. He then meets Kim Moo-Bi (Park Bo-Young) works in the movie industry and her name “Moo-Bi” even sounds like the English word “movie.”

Release date for “Melo Movie” has not yet been announced, but the still images above and below point out that the first script reading has already taken place.

Nao cast in live-action movie “Sensei’s Pious Lie”

Nao is cast in live-action movie “Sensei’s Pious Lie.” The movie is based  on manga series “Sensei no Shiroi Uso” by Akane Torikai and directed by Koichiro Miki (“Anonymous Noise“). The film will have Nao play high school teacher Misuzu Hara. A traumatic incident happened in her recent past with someone she knew. A student then turns to her for advice.

“Sensei’s Pious Lie” will be released July 5, 2024 in Japan.

First teaser trailer for KBS2 drama “Beauty and the Devoted”

First teaser trailer for KBS2 drama series “Beauty and the Devoted” (literal title) starring Ji Hyun-Woo and Lim Soo-Hyang. The teaser trailer features child actress Lee Seol-A who plays lead female character Park Do-Ra (Lim Soo-Hyang) when she was a child. As she sings on stage and then falls down, Lim Soo-Hyang’s voice appears and she states “This is a pure love story. When I am so scared that I wonder if I can stand up again, he holds his hands out to me.” That “he” in the trailer is teen actor Moon Sung-Hyun who plays lead male character Go Pil-Seung (Ji Hyun-Woo) as a teen.

“Beauty and the Devoted” is now scheduled to first air March 23, 2024 in South Korea (takes over KBS2’s Saturday and Sunday 7:55 PM time slot after “Live Your Own Life“).
