Ryo Yoshizawa cast in movie “Kokuhou”

Ryo Yoshizawa is cast for the lead role in movie “Kokuhou.” The film is based on 2017 novel “Kokuhou” by Shuichi Yoshida and directed by award winning director Sang-il Lee. Director Sang-il Lee previously worked with author Shuichi Yoshida for 2010 movie “Villain,” which was based on his 2007 novel “”Akunin.” For Kokuhou, Ryo Yoshizawa will play main character Kikuo. His strange fate leads him from being born to a yakuza member and eventually becoming a kabuki theater actor.

“Kokuhou” will be released sometime next year in Japan.

First teaser trailer for tvN drama “Lovely Runner”

First teaser trailer added for tvN drama series “Lovely Runner” starring Byeon Woo-Seok & Kim Hye-Yoon. The fantasy-romance screenplay is based on 2020 novel “Naeilui Euddeum” by Kim Bbang. The teaser trailer begins with Kim Hye-Yoon staring intently at her phone and declaring “My Sun-Jae has everything, but he doesn’t have me.”

“Lovely Runner” is now scheduled to first air April 8, 2024 (takes over tvN’s Monday & Tuesday 8:50 PM time slot after “Wedding Impossible“).

Lead cast announced for MBC drama “Brave Yong Soo-Jung”

Uhm Hyun-Kyung, Seo Jun-Young, Kwon Hwa-Woon, and Lim Ju-Eun are cast in MBC drama series “Brave Yong Soo-Jung” (literal title). The drama series, which will air weekdays at 7 PM after “The Third Marriage,” tells a romance-revenge story with Uhm Hyun-Kyung playing title character Yong Soo-Jung. She becomes involved with the powerful family that run the Masung Group.

“Brave Yong Soo-Jung” will first air April, 2024 in South Korea (takes over MBC’s Monday – Friday 7 PM time slot after “The Third Marriage“).

WOWOW to air drama series sequel “Golden Kamuy”

WOWOW to air drama series “Golden Kamuy” starring Kento Yamazaki, Anna Yamada, & Gordon Maeda. The drama series is a sequel to the just released 2024 movie “Golden Kamuy” and based on manga series “Golden Kamuy” by Satoru Noda. The sequel drama series will pick up immediately after where there 2024 movie version ended. Namely, the hunt to find the escaped prisoners who have tattoos that reveal the location of hidden gold. Along with the returning cast members from the movie version, are new cast members who will play new characters: Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Maryjun Takahashi, Yuki Sakurai, and Akihisa Shiono. Director Sigeaki Kubo and screenwriter Tsutomu Kuroiwa, who worked on the movie version will also work together for the drama series sequel.

“Golden Kamuy” will air sometime this autumn in Japan.

Teaser poster and release date set for Disney+ drama series “Blood Free” starring Ju Ji-Hoon & Han Hyo-Joo. The suspense-thriller drama series revolves around the CEO (Han Hyo-Joo) of a biotechnology company that created artificially cultured meat and a bodyguard (Ju Ji-Hoon) that approaches her. They get involved in mysterious deaths and incidents. Caption on the teaser poster states “Would you like to join us in the era of artificially cultured meat?”

“Blood Free” will be available to stream from April 10, 2024.

Trailer and poster added for Netflix drama series “Chicken Nugget” starring Ryu Seung-Ryong & Ahn Jae-Hong. The comedy-mystery drama series will also have the special appearance by Kim You-Jung, who plays the daughter of Choi Sun-Man (Ryu Seung-Ryong). She accidentally turns into a chicken nugget after stepping into a machine. Caption on the teaser poster states “A new comedy concept that has never existed before in the world.” Lee Byeong-Hun, who previously directed box-office comedy hit “Extreme Job,” also directs “Chicken Nugget.”

“Chicken Nugget” will be available to stream March 15, 2024.

Ren Nagase & Yuka Itaya cast in TV Asahi drama “Tokyo Tower”

Ren Nagase and Yuka Itaya are cast in TV Asahi drama series “Tokyo Tower.” The drama series is based on 1999 novel “Tokyo Tower” by Kaori Ekuni, which was previously made into 2005 movie “Tokyo Tower,” starring Junichi Okada & Hitomi Kuroki, and 2014 JTBC drama series “Secret Affair,” starring Kim Hee-Ae & Yoo Ah-In. For the 2024 version, Ren Nagase will play bored medical student Toru Kojima and Yuka Itaya will play architect Shifumi Asano. They meet and spend time together at her office.

“Tokyo Tower” first airs April 20, 2024 in Japan.

Takeru Satoh and Yu Miyazaki cast in Netflix drama “Glass Heart”

Takeru Satoh and Yu Miyazaki are cast in Netflix drama series “Glass Heart.” Also cast in the drama series are Keita Machida, Jun Shison, and Masaki Suda. The drama series is based on 2011 novel “Glass Heart” by Mio Wakagi. For “Glass Heart,” Takeru Satoh will play genius musician Naoki Fujitani. He scouts Akane Saijo (Yu Miyazaki) for his new band.

“Glass Heart” will be available to stream sometime next year.

Still images and release date for movie “Hijacking”

First still images and release date set for movie “Hijacking” starring Ha Jung-Woo, Yeo Jin-Goo, & Sung Dong-Il. The film is set in 1971 and takes place on a flight that gets hijacked. The still image above is of Ha Jung-Woo as Tae-In. He is a pilot on the flight and a former Korean Air Force fighter plane pilot. The still image below is of Yeo Jin-Goo as Yong-Dae. He is a passenger on the flight.

“Hijacking” is now set for release June, 2024 in South Korea.

The drama series is based on manga series “Kiseiju” by Hitoshi Iwaaki and tells an original story with new characters and setting. Yeon Sang-Ho (“Train To Busan“) directs and writes the screenplay for “Parasyte: The Grey.” The teaser poster shows Jeon So-Nee as Jung Su-In, who begins to live with parasite Heidi that fell from the sky.
