Shin Hye-Sun cast in SBS drama special “Praise of Death”

Shin Hye-Sun is cast in SBS drama special “Praise of Death” (literal title) co-starring Lee Jong-Suk. Shin Hye-Sun most recently starred in KBS2 weekend drama series “My Golden Life” which got ratings as high as 47.5% for an episode. Drama series “Praise of Death” is based on the true story of Korea’s first soprano Yun Sim-Deok (Shin Hye-Sun) and stage drama writer Kim Woo-Jin (Lee Jong-Suk). They experience a tragic love as Kim Woo-Jin is already married. Lee Jong-Suk and Shin Hye-Sun previously worked together in 2013 KBS2 drama series “School 2013.”

“Praise of Death” will consist of 2 episodes and air sometime later this year in South Korea.

Teaser trailer #2 for tvN drama series “My Mister”

Teaser trailer #2 added for upcoming tvN drama series “My Mister” starring Lee Sun-Kyun and IU. There’s actually two versions of teaser trailer #2 with slight variations. The teasers begin with IU’s voice stating “From the most glamorous place to the darkest place, from the strangest place to the most appealing place.“

“My Mister” first airs March 21, 2018 in South Korea.

Hwang Jung-Eum cast in SBS drama series “Handsome Guy and Jung-Eum”

Hwang Jung-Eum is now cast in upcoming SBS drama series “Handsome Guy and Jung-Eum” co-starring Namgung Min. Hwang Jung-Eum will play title character Jung-Eum in the drama series. Due to her difficult background, Jung-Eum has given up on finding love. She used to be a diver and now works at a matchmaking company. She meets Hoon-Nam (Namgung Min) who knows all about love, but is not interested in falling in love.

“Handsome Guy and Jung-Eum” first airs May, 2018 in South Korea.

Chang Ki-Yong offered lead male role MBC drama series “Come Here and Give Me A Hug”

Chang Ki-Yong has been offered the lead male role in upcoming MBC drama series “Come Here and Give Me A Hug” (literal title). Currently, Chang Ki-Yong is positively considering the offer. If Chang Ki-Yong accepts, he will play the character of Chae Do-Jin. He graduated from the Korea National Police University and now works as a police lieutenant. He carries himself with honesty and integrity. Story for the drama series will follow two people who carry heavy hearts due to a murder case from their past.

“Come Here and Give Me A Hug” first airs May, 2018 in South Korea (takes over MBC’s Wednesday and Thursday 10PM time slot after “Let’s Hold Hands Tightly and Watch The Sunset“).

Song Joong-Ki offered lead male role in drama series “Aseudal”

Song Joong-Ki has been offered the lead male role in new historical drama series “Aseudal.” The drama series will be directed by Kim Jin-Won and screenplay written by Kim Young-Hyun & Park Sang-Yeon. Song Joong-Ki has worked previously with all 3 staff members and he is currently considering the offer. Kim Jin-Won directed Song Joong-Ki in 2012 KBS2 drama series “The Innocent Man,” while Kim Young-Hyun & Park Sang-Yeon wrote the screenplay for 2011 SBS drama series “Tree With Deep Roots.”

Story for “Aseudal” has not yet been reveal, but it is set in historical times and will air as a pre-production (completed prior to airing). Broadcasting station for “Aseudal” also has yet to be decided, but the drama series should air sometime next year in South Korea.

Lee Jin-Wook offered lead role in OCN drama series “Voice 2”

Lee Jin-Wook has been offered the lead male role OCN sequel drama series “Voice 2.” Lee Ha-Na and Son Eun-Seo, who appeared in season 1 of “Voice,” have received offers to reprise their respective roles. If Lee Jin-Wook accepts, he will play new character Do Gang-Woo. His character is a detective and experienced a painful past relating to his family. Jang Hyuk played the lead male character in “Voice,” but he elected to not appear in the sequel.

“Voice 2” will air sometime in the second half of this year in South Korea.

Lee Jong-Suk cast in SBS drama special “Praise of Death”

Lee Jong-Suk is now cast in SBS drama special “Praise of Death” (literal title). The drama special is based on the true story of Kim Woo-Jin and Yun Sim-Deok. Lee Jong-Suk will play lead male character Kim Woo-Jin. While Korea is under Japanese occupation, Kim Woo-Jin works as a stage drama writer. While studying in Japan, he falls in love with Yun Sim-Deok even though he is already married. Yun Sim-Deok would go on to release the first Korean pop song titled “Praise of Death” in 1926.

Lee Jong-Suk is reportedly not receiving payment for his performance and instead performing to support director Park Soo-Jin whom he worked with previously in 2017 SBS drama series “While You Were Sleeping.” “Praise of Death” will consist of 2 episodes and will air sometime this year in South Korea.

Teaser trailer #1 (redux) for tvN drama series “My Mister”

Teaser trailer #1 added for upcoming tvN drama series “My Mister” starring Lee Sun-Kyun and IU. tvN previously released 2 versions of teaser trailer #1, but then actor Oh Dal-Su dropped out of the drama series due to sexual harassment claims from his past. The new, redux teaser trailer #1 now features Park Ho-San playing Park Sang-Hoon (the older brother of main character played by Lee Sun-Kyun) instead of Oh Dal-Su.

“My Mister” first airs March 21, 2018.
