Ryunosuke Kamiki & Kou Shibasaki are cast for lead roles in live-action film “XXXHOLiC.” The film is based on manga “xxxHOLiC” by Clamp and directed by Mika Ninagawa (“Sakuran“). The manga series was previously adapted into 2013 WOWOW drama series “XXXHOLiC” starring Anne Watanabe & Shota Sometani in the lead roles. For the film Kou Shibasaki will play Yuko Ichihara. She is the owner of a store that grants wishes for a price. Ryunosuke Kamiki will play Kimihiro Watanuki. He comes upon the store and is granted a wish.
“XXXHOLiC” will be released April 29, 2022 in Japan.

Hideaki Ito is cast for the lead role in live-action film “Kappei.” The movie is based on manga series “Kappei” by Kiminori Wakasugi (“Detroit Metal City“). Also cast for the movie are Moka Kamishiraishi, Daigo Nishihata, Yusuke Onuki, Koji Yamamoto, Yukiyoshi Ozawa, & Arata Furuta. Filming for the movie took place from May to June, 2021. The first teaser trailer has also been released and can be viewed at AsianWiki.

Trailer and poster added for movie “The Midnight Maiden War” starring Ren Nagase & Elaiza Ikeda. Movie is based on 2018 novel “Mayonaka Otome Senso” by F. The movie’s theme song has also been revealed, which is “Happier Than Ever” by Billie Eilish. The theme song is played in the main trailer. Billie Eilish also appears in the beginning of the trailer, introducing her song as the movie’s theme song.

Kiichi Nakai, Kenichi Matsuyama and Keiko Kitagawa are cast in movie “Taiga e no Michi.” The film is inspired by Shinosuke Tatekawa’s rakugo performance “Ino Tadataka Monogatari: Taiga e no Michi,” which was first performed in 2011. The movie will take place in the present day and also around the year 1821, as a drama series production uncovers a secret about the first person(s) to map Japan.
“Taiga e no Michi” will be released May 20, 2022.

Tomohisa Yamashita is cast in Netflix movie “A Blueprint for Love.” The film is a remake of 2021 South Korean film “Architecture 101” starring Uhm Tae-Woong, Han Ga-In, Lee Je-Hoon, & Bae Suzy. For movie “A Blueprint for Love,” Tomohisa Yamashita will play lead male character Ibuki. In his college days, Ibuki met a woman named Yuna and fell in love, but they eventually parted ways. 19 years later, they meet again.
“A Blueprint for Love” will stream on Netflix sometime next year.

Hiroshi Tamaki, Haruna Kawaguchi, & Jun Shison cast in live-action film “The Way of the Househusband.” Movie is based on webcomic “Gokushufudo” by Kousuke Oono. 2020 NTV drama series “The Way of the Househusband” is based on the same webcomic. Hiroshi Tamaki, Haruna Kawaguchi, & Jun Shison will reprise their respective characters from the NTV drama series for the live-action film version. Also cast for supporting roles and reprising their characters from the drama series are: Naoto Takenaka, Izumi Inamori, Tamaki Shiratori, Kenichi Takito, Yuta Furukawa, Junpei Yasui, Tina Tamashiro, Megumi, and Michiko Tanaka. Actors who will play new characters for the live-action film will be announced at a later date.
“The Way of the Househusband” will be released sometime this summer in Japan.

Movie is based on 2008 novel “Tonbi” by Kiyoshi Shigematsu, which was previously adapted into 2012 NHK drama special “Tonbi” and 2013 TBS drama series “Tonbi.” Caption on the poster sates “My father, who was the most clumsy father in Japan, raised me full of love.”

The teaser trailer begins with Ryusei Yokohama stating “You are a liar.” In addition, Mai Shiraishi, Kanata Hongo, Kaito Sakurai, Hiroaki Murakami, and Shohei Miura have been announced as supporting cast members.
