Hiyori Sakurada cast in TBS-MBS drama “What Six Survivors Told”

Hiyori Sakurada is cast for the lead role in TBS-MBS live-acton drama series “What Six Survivors Told” (literal title). The drama series is based on manga series “Ikinokotta 6 nin ni Yoru to” by Kazune Yamamoto. Also cast in supporting roles are Reo Sano, Yurika Nakamura, Yuki Kura, Akari Takaishi, Arisa Yagi, Kosuke Tanaka, Maika Sasaki, & Yusuke Onuki. The drama series features a zombie-survival meets romantic-comedy script, with Hiyori Sakurada playing high school student Riri Mizukami. She takes shelter in a shopping mall, while everywhere outside is filled with zombies.

“What Six Survivors Told” consists of 6 episodes and will first air August 9, 2022 in Japan.

Yuriyan Retriever cast in Netflix drama “The Queen of Villains”

Yuriyan Retriever is cast in Netflix drama series “The Queen of Villains.” She will play real life wrestler Dump Matsumoto in the drama series. Dump Matsumoto became famous as a professional wrestler during the 1980’s as an evil wrestler. Comedian Yuriyan Retriever underwent training for a year period and gained 29 kilograms to play the role (went from 65 to 93 kg). The drama series is directed by Kazuya Shiraishi (“The Devil’s Path“) and scripted by Osamu Suzuki (“The Last Chance: Diary of Comedians“).

“The Queen of Villains” will be released sometime next year on Netflix.

Main trailer for movie “Akira and Akira”

Main trailer added for movie “Akira and Akira” starring Ryoma Takeuch & Ryusei Yokohama. Movie is based on novel “Akira to Akira” by Jun Ikeido (“Naoki Hanzawa“) and directed by Takahiro Miki (“The Door into Summer“). 2017 WOWOW drama series “Akira and Akira,” starring Osamu Mukai & Takumi Saito, is also based on the same novel. Meanwhile, the movie’s theme song has been announced as “Berubetto no Shi” by Back Number. The theme song “Berubetto no Shi” is featured in the trailer.

“Akira and Akira” will be released August 26, 2022 in Japan.

Ai Iinuma, Kento Nagao, and Hidekazu Mashima cast in TBS drama “Seven Days of a Daddy and a Daughter”

Ai Iinuma, Kento Nagao, and Hidekazu Mashima are cast in TBS-Paravi drama series “Seven Days of a Daddy and a Daughter.” The drama series is based on 2006 novel “Papa to Musume no Nanokakan” by Takahisa Igarashi and a remake of 2007 TBS drama series “Seven Days of a Daddy and a Daughter” starring Hiroshi Tachi & Yui Aragaki. In “Seven Days of a Daddy and a Daughter,” Ai Iinuma and Hidekazu Mashima will play daughter and father. They somehow switch bodies. Kento Nagao will play a teen love interest of the daughter.

“Seven Days of a Daddy and a Daughter” first airs  July 26, 2022 in Japan.

Shori Sato is cast in TV Tokyo drama series “Red Nurse Call” (literal title). The drama series features an original horror-themed story by Yasushi Akimoto. In the drama series, Shori Sato will play a young man who gets into a car accident and wakes up in a hospital. He finds that the hospital is very strange.

“Red Nurse Call” first airs July, 2022 in Japan (follows “Kichijoji Losers” in TV Tokyo’s Monday 11 PM time slot) .

Marie Iitoyo & Kodai Asaka cast in NTV drama “Octo””

Marie Iitoyo and Kodai Asaka are cast in NTV-YTV drama series “Octo: Kanjo Sosakan Shinno Akari.” The drama series features an original screenplay by Hayato Miura & Natsu Hashimoto. For “Octo: Kanjo Sosakan Shinno Akari,” Marie Iitoyo will play Akari Shinno. She is a detective and has a special ability to see people’s eight emotions in color. Kodai Asaka will play Ryo Kazehaya. He is also a detective and teams up with Akari Shinno on cases.

Takuya Kusakawa (Bullet Train) and Sho Nishigaki are cast in TV Tokyo drama series “Wash My Heart.” The drama series is based on BL manga “Minato Shoji Coin Laundry” by Sawa Kanzume & Yuzu Tsubaki. In the drama series, Takuya Kusakawa will play a young man that operates a small laundry mat. Sho Nishigaki will play a high school student that comes to the laundry mat.

Ai Hashimoto cast in NTV drama “Private Tutor Torako”

Ai Hashimoto is cast in NTV drama series “Private Tutor Torako” (literal title). The drama series features an original screenplay by Kazuhiko Yukawa. Ai Hashimoto has previously appeared in Kazuhiko Yukawa scripted NTV drama series “Our Dearest Sakura” and “A Girl of 35.” In “Private Tutor Torako,” Ai Hashimoto will play title character Private Tutor Torako. She is a mysterious figure, but is highly successful as a private tutor.

“Private Tutor Torako” first airs July, 2022 in Japan (takes over NTV’s Wednesday 10PM after “Bad Girl: Glass Ceiling Crushers“).

Haru & Shotaro Mamiya are cast in Fuji TV-KTV drama series “Renovation Like Magic” (literal title). The drama series is based on manga series “Maho no Rinobe” by Maki Hoshizaki. For “Renovation Like Magic,” Haru will play Kome Shingyoji. She begins work at a home renovation company and must work with the owner’s son played by Shotaro Mamiya.

Yoshihiko Inohara cast in WOWOW drama “Shylock’s Children”

Yoshihiko Inohara is cast in WOWOW drama series “Shylock’s Children” (literal title). The drama series is based on 2006 novel “Shylock no Kodomotachi” by Jun Ikeido (“Naoki Hanzawa“). The drama series is directed by Kosuke Suzuki and scripted by Youichi Maekawa. Kosuke Suzuki and Youichi Maekawa previously worked together on 2009 WOWOW drama series “The Flying Tire,” which is also based on a novel by Jun Ikeido (“Soratobu Taiya”). The drama series “Shylock’s Children” will have Yoshihiko Inohara play Masahiro Nishiki. He works as a deputy manager for a branch bank and looks into a case where a million yen is missing.

“Shylock’s Children” will first air October, 2022 in Japan.
