WOWOW to air drama series sequel “Golden Kamuy”

WOWOW to air drama series “Golden Kamuy” starring Kento Yamazaki, Anna Yamada, & Gordon Maeda. The drama series is a sequel to the just released 2024 movie “Golden Kamuy” and based on manga series “Golden Kamuy” by Satoru Noda. The sequel drama series will pick up immediately after where there 2024 movie version ended. Namely, the hunt to find the escaped prisoners who have tattoos that reveal the location of hidden gold. Along with the returning cast members from the movie version, are new cast members who will play new characters: Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Maryjun Takahashi, Yuki Sakurai, and Akihisa Shiono. Director Sigeaki Kubo and screenwriter Tsutomu Kuroiwa, who worked on the movie version will also work together for the drama series sequel.

“Golden Kamuy” will air sometime this autumn in Japan.

Ren Nagase & Yuka Itaya cast in TV Asahi drama “Tokyo Tower”

Ren Nagase and Yuka Itaya are cast in TV Asahi drama series “Tokyo Tower.” The drama series is based on 1999 novel “Tokyo Tower” by Kaori Ekuni, which was previously made into 2005 movie “Tokyo Tower,” starring Junichi Okada & Hitomi Kuroki, and 2014 JTBC drama series “Secret Affair,” starring Kim Hee-Ae & Yoo Ah-In. For the 2024 version, Ren Nagase will play bored medical student Toru Kojima and Yuka Itaya will play architect Shifumi Asano. They meet and spend time together at her office.

“Tokyo Tower” first airs April 20, 2024 in Japan.

Takeru Satoh and Yu Miyazaki cast in Netflix drama “Glass Heart”

Takeru Satoh and Yu Miyazaki are cast in Netflix drama series “Glass Heart.” Also cast in the drama series are Keita Machida, Jun Shison, and Masaki Suda. The drama series is based on 2011 novel “Glass Heart” by Mio Wakagi. For “Glass Heart,” Takeru Satoh will play genius musician Naoki Fujitani. He scouts Akane Saijo (Yu Miyazaki) for his new band.

“Glass Heart” will be available to stream sometime next year.

Sara Kozawa cast in TV Asahi drama “JK to Roppouzensho”

Sara Kozawa is cast in TV Asahi drama series “JK to Roppouzensho.” The drama series will have Sara Kozawa play high school student Miyabi Sakuragi. She passes her bar exam as a teenager and begins to work for her grandmother at her law firm. She tries to keep her lawyer work a secret at her new high school, but she eventually provides guidance on law matters to people there.

Meru Nukumi cast in TBS drama “Dare ga Watashi to Koi wo Shita”

Meru Nukumi is cast for the lead role in TBS drama series “Dare ga Watashi to Koi wo Shita.” The romantic-comedy/mystery drama series is scripted by Tomoko Yoshizawa (“Is Love Sustainable?“) and directed by Aya Matsuki (“18/40: Unbreakable Bond of Dreams“). For “Dare ga Watashi to Koi wo Shita,” Meru Nukumi will play 24-year-old Makoto Ogata. She gets into an accident that causes her to lose her memory. In her possession, she has a male ring she was going to give as a present, but she doesn’t remember who the recipient is. Three men appear in front her.

“Dare ga Watashi to Koi wo Shita” will first air April, 2024 in Japan (takes over TBS’ Tuesday 10 PM time slot after “Eye Love You“).

Kazuya Kamenashi is cast in WOWOW drama series “Game no Na wa Yukai.” The drama series is based on mystery novel “Game no Na wa Yukai” by Keigo Higashino, which was previously adapted into 2003 movie “G@me” starring Naohito Fujiki and Yukie Nakama. In the WOWOW drama series version, Kazuya Kamenashi will play advertising company employee Shunsuke Sakuma. His ego takes a hit, when the vice president of a car company kicks him off a project that the ad company is working on. He gets a chance to get revenge when he meets the vice president’s daughter.

“Game no Na wa Yukai” will consist of 4 episodes and will air June, 2024 in Japan.

Haruna Kawaguchi, Haruka Kinami, and Mei Hata are cast in TBS drama series “9 Border.” Haruna Kawaguchi will play lead character Nana Oba. She is the middle sister of three sisters. The oldest sister will be played by Haruka Kinami and the youngest sister played by Mei Hata. The drama series features an original screenplay that is a human love story. The three sisters begin to live under the same roof after their father disappears.

Hana Sugisaki is cast in Fuji TV-KTV drama series “Unmet.” The live-action drama series is based on manga  “Unmet” by Yuzuru Kojika. The original author of the manga is a former brain surgeon and her experience in that field lays out the groundwork for screenplay. Hana Sugisaki will play Miyabi Kawauchi. She was a promising neurosurgeon, but she got into an accident that caused her to lose her memory. She then meets Tomoharu Sanpei, who is himself an eccentric neurosurgeon.

“Unmet” will first air April, 2024 in Japan (takes over Fuji TV’s Monday 10 PM time slot after “When Spring Comes“).

Taiga Kyomoto and Momoko Tanabe are cast in Fuji TV-KTV drama series “Omukae Shibuya-kun.” The romantic-comedy drama series is based on manga “Omukae Shibuya-kun” by Makoto Mitsuno. For Taiga Kyomoto, who will appear in a Fuji TV-KTV drama series for the first time, he will play popular actor Taikai Shibuya. He begins to take his 4 year old sister to preschool. There he meets his sister’s teacher played by Momoko Tanabe.

Kaito Takahashi from “King & Prince” is cast in TV Tokyo drama series “95.” The drama series is based on novel “95” by Kazumasa Hayami (“Our Family“). This will also mark Kaito Takahashi’s first time appearing in a TV Tokyo drama series. For “95,” Kaito Takahashi will play Akihisa Hiroshige. Set in 1995, he begins to run with a group of teamers in Shibuya.
