Lee Seung-Gi offered lead role in tvN drama series “Hwayuki”

Lee Seung-Gi has been offered a leading role in upcoming tvN drama series “Hwayuki.” Cha Seung-Won has already received an offer to play a co-lead role and he is still considering the offer. If Lee Seung-Gi accepts the offer, he will play Son O-Gong. The drama series is a reinterpretation of Chinese novel “Journey to the West,” but set in the present day and scripted by sisters Hong Jung-Eun and Hong Mi-Ran. The character of Son O-Gong is based off the character of Sun Wukong in the original novel.

Meanwhile, Lee Seung-Gi is set to be discharged from the military on October 31, 2017. The drama series is scheduled to first air December, 2017 in South Korea.

Lee Jung-Shin, Lee Yeol-Eum and Seo Ji-Hoon cast in SBS Plus drama series “Longing Heart”

Lee Jung-Shin (‘CNBLUE’), Lee Yeol-Eum and Seo Ji-Hoon are cast for the lead roles in new SBS Plus live-action drama series “Longing Heart.” The drama series is based on webcomic “Aeganjang” by Kim Hee-Ran & Kim Byung-Gwan.

In the drama series, Lee Jung-Shin will play math teacher Kang Shin-Woo. He still can’t forget his first love (Lee Yeol-Eum) from his high school days. An accident causes him to go back in time to his high school days. He meets his younger self (Seo Ji-Hoon) and tries to help him win the heart of his first love.

Filming for the drama series begins late August, 2017 and will air December, 2017 in South Korea.

Tatsuya Ueda cast in TV Tokyo live-action drama series “Shinjuku Seven”

Tatsuya Ueda (‘KAT-TUN’) is cast for the lead role in new TV Tokyo live-action drama series “Shinjuku Seven.” Tatsuya Ueda will also sing the theme song for the drama series. The drama series is based on manga “Shinjuku Seven” by Subaru Mizuki. This is the first lead acting role in a drama series for Tatsuya Ueda. In the drama series, Tatsuya Ueda will play pawn shop owner Nanase. He is an amazing appraiser and able to distinguish all fakes from originals. He also helps his clients who come to pawn items.

“Shinjuku Seven” first airs October, 2017 in Japan.

Jung Yu-Mi, Lee Kwang-Soo and Bae Sung-Woo cast in tvN drama series “Live”

Jung Yu-Mi, Lee Kwang-Soo and Bae Sung-Woo are cast in tvN drama series “Live.” The drama series will first air sometime in the first half of 2018. Kim Kyu-Tae will direct the drama series and No Hee-Kyung will write the screenplay. Kim Kyu-Tae and No Hee-Kyung previously worked together in drama series “Worlds Within……,” “Padam Padam… The Sound of His and Her Heartbeats,” “That Winter, The Wind Blows” and “It’s Ok, This is Love“.

In drama series “Live,” Jung Yu-Mi will play Han Jung-O. She is a police officer and works at a neighborhood police station. She fights against male chauvinism. Lee Kwang-Soo will play Yeom Sang-Soo. He is a police officer and works with Han Jung-O. They solves cases together. Bae Sung-Woo will play Oh Yang-Chon. He once had a promising police career, but he was recently demoted to the neighborhood police station where Han Jung-O and Yeom Sang-Soo works.

Lee Joon-Ho and Won Jin-A cast in JTBC drama series “Just Between Lovers”

Lee Joon-Ho (‘2PM’) and Won Jin-A are cast for the lead roles in new JTBC drama series “Just Between Lovers” (literal title). The drama series will be directed by Kim Jin-Won (“The Innocent Man“)and scripted by Yoo Bo-Ra (“Secret Love“).

In the drama series, Lee Joon-Ho plays a man who dreamed of becoming a soccer player, but an accident ended those dreams. He meets a woman played by Won Jin-A who survived a fatal accident. Won Jin-A landed her role after going through auditions with 120 other participants.

“Just Between Lovers” first airs in the second half of this year in South Korea.

Choi Si-Won and Kang So-Ra cast in tvN drama series “Byun Hyuk’s Love”

Choi Si-Won (‘Super Junior’) and Kang So-Ra are cast for lead roles in tvN drama series “Byun Hyuk’s Love.” The drama series will be Choi Si-Won’s first acting role since being discharged from the military on August 18, 2017. Story for the drama series will have Choi Si-Won playing title character Byun Hyuk. Although he is wealthy, he begins living in a studio apartment in a poor area. Baek Joon (Kang So-Ra) also lives in the area. She works part-time jobs to pay her bills, even though she graduated from a good university. Her life changes when Baek Joon appears.

Jung Ryeo-Won offered lead role in KBS2 drama series “Don’t Believe Her”

Jung Ryeo-Won has received an offer to play the lead female role in new KBS2 drama series “Don’t Believe Her” (literal title). Currently, Jung Ryeo-Won is “positively considering” the offer. If she accepts, Jung Ryeo-Won will play Ma Yi-Deum. She has worked as a prosecutor for the past 7 years and receives a transfer to a special division dealing with sex crimes.

Main poster added for upcoming Naver TV Cast-JTBC web drama series “Somehow 18” starring Minho (‘SHINee’) and Lee Yoo-Bi. In the web drama series, Minho plays Oh Kyung-Whee. Rina Uchiyama cast in NHK drama series “Machi Koba no Onna”

Rina Uchiyama is cast in new NHK drama series “Machi Koba no Onna.” Also cast in supporting roles are Masaru Nagai, Shingo Yanagisawa, Jun Murakami, Shugo Oshinari, Shunsuke Kariya, Yoshie Ichige, Naoto Takenaka and Hiroshi Tachi. The drama series is based on 2014 novel “Machi Koba no Musume” by Takako Suwa. For the drama series, Rina Uchiyama will play main character Hikari Arimoto. She is a housewife, but decides to become the CEO of a company run by her terminally ill father.

“Machi Koba no Onna” first airs November 10, 2017 in Japan.

Lee You-Jin cast in JTBC drama series “Age of Youth Season 2”

Lee You-Jin is cast in upcoming JTBC drama series “Age of Youth Season 2.” He replaces Onew who dropped out of the drama series after being accused of sexual assault at a nightclub recently. Lee You-Jin will play the character of Kwon Ho-Chang. Kwon Ho-Chang has never had a girlfriend and is intelligent. He gets involved with Jung Ye-Eun (Han Seung-Yeon) romantically. Lee You-Jin will begin filming his scenes next week.
