Song Ji-Hyo offered lead role in tvN drama special “Assistant Manager B and Love Letter”

Song Ji-Hyo has received an offer to play the main character in new tvN drama special  “Assistant Manager B and Love Letter” (literal title). Currently, Song Ji-Hyo is “positively considering” the offer. If she accepts, Song Ji-Hyo will play Bang Ga-Young. She is a single, 34-year-old woman who has never dated a man in her life.

“Assistant Manager B and Love Letter” will air sometime this December in South Korea.

Moon Chae-Won cast in period film “Propitious Site for Grave”

Moon Chae-Won is cast in period film “Propitious Site for Grave” (literal title) starring Cho Seung-Woo, Ji Sung and Kim Sung-Kyun. In the movie, Moon Chae-Won will play a gisaeng named Cho-Sun. Also cast in supporting roles are Baek Yoon-Sik, Yoo Jae-Myung, Lee Won-Geun, Kim Min-Jae and Kang Tae-Oh. Movie is directed by Park Hee-Kon (“Insadong Scandal“) and filming began August 22, 2017.

“Propitious Site for Grave” will be released sometime next year in South Korea.

Jo Hyun-Jae to make cameo appearance in MBC drama series “Hospital Ship”

Actor Jo Hyun-Jae is set to make a cameo appearance in MBC drama series “Hospital Ship” starring Ha Ji-Won and Kang Min-Hyuk (‘CNBLUE’). For his cameo appearance, Jo Hyun-Jae will play Jang Sung-Ho. Background for Jang Sung-Ho has not yet been revealed, but he will get involved with Song Eun-Jae (Ha Ji-Won) in some way. Jo Hyun-Jae also mentioned he took the cameo in part due to being an admirer of screenwriter Yoon Sun-Joo‘s past works.

“Hospital Ship” first airs August 30, 2017.

Takeru Satoh cast in NHK drama series “Half, Blue”

Takeru Satoh is cast for a major supporting role in NHK drama series “Half, Blue” starring Mei Nagano. For the drama series, which is NHK’s 98th asadora, Takeru Satoh will play Ritsu Hagio. He is a childhood friend of Suzume Nireno (Mei Nagano). They were born at the same hospital and on the same day. This is Takeru Satoh’s first time appearing in a NHK morning drama series (asadora).

In addition, Yasuko Matsuyuki, Kenichi Takito, Masatoshi Nakamura, Jun Fubuki, Kaisei Kamimura, Tomoyo Harada, Shosuke Tanihara, Kimiko Yo, Yuma Yamoto and Nao are all cast in supporting roles. “Half, Blue” will first air April 2, 2018 in Japan.

First script reading for KBS2 drama series “Girls’ Generation 1979”

First script reading for upcoming KBS2 drama series “Girls’ Generation 1979” (English title) took place August 18, 2017 at KBS Annex Building in Yeuido, Seoul. First script reading featured main cast members including Bona (‘WJSN’), Chae Seo-Jin, Min Do-Hee, Seo Young-Joo, Lee Jong-Hyun (‘CNBLUE’) and Yeo Hoi-Hyeon. Bona in particular was born in Daegu where the drama series is set in and she read her lines using the Daegu accent.

“Girls’ Generation 1979” first airs September 11, 2017 in South Korea.

Hinako Sakurai and Ryo Yoshizawa cast in live-action film “Marmalade Boy”

Hinako Sakurai and Ryo Yoshizawa are cast in live-action film “Marmalade Boy.” The film is based on manga series “Mamaredo Boi” by Wataru Yoshizumi  and directed by Ryuichi Hiroki. The unusual premise for the film involves two married couples who decide to divorce and swap partners, but all live together in the same house. Both couples have 1 teenage child, Miki Koishikawa (Hinako Sakurai) and Yuu Matsuura (Ryo Yoshizawa). Miki then becomes attracted to Yuu.

“Marmalade Boy” will be released sometime during 2018 in Japan.

Supporting cast for Hulu drama series “Ame ga Furu to Kimi wa Yasashii”

Supporting cast has been announced for upcoming Hulu drama series “Ame ga Furu to Kimi wa Yasashii” starring Tetsuji Tamayama and Nozomi Sasaki. Cast in supporting roles are Megumi Okina, Yuko Fueki, Ikko Furuya, Tae Kimura and Takanori Jinnai. Premise for the drama series follows a husband and wife couple. The wife (Nozomi Sasaki) has a sex disorder and will sleep with men on sunny days. For the supporting actors Megumi Okina will play the chief editor of a fashion magazine. She has a close relationship with the husband and wife. Yuko Fueki will play a mysterious writer. Ikko Furuya will play a dubious magnate writer. Tae Kimura will play a clinical psychologist. Takanori Jinnai will play the chief editor of a magazine.

The drama series is also now set to first stream September 16, 2017 in Japan.
