Tsuyoshi Domoto (‘KinKi Kids’) is cast in upcoming live-action sequel film “Gintama 2” starring Shun Oguri. For the film, Tsuyoshi Domoto will play the character of Shinsuke Takasugi, which he also played in 2017 film “Gintama.” Shinsuke Takasugi is the leader of the armed “Kiheitai” group.
“Gintama 2” opens August 17, 2018 in Japan.
Upcoming tvN drama series “Mr. Shunshine” held its gosa ceremony on June 8, 2018. The traditional gosa ceremony takes place to bring about good luck and avoid misfortune. The gosa ceremony was held at a filming set in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, South Korea. More than 200 people including Lee Byung-Hun, Kim Tae-Ri, Yoo Yeon-Seok, Kim Min-Jung, Byun Yo-Han, Choi Moo-Sung and Jo Woo-Jin all attended.
“Mr. Sunshine” first airs July 7, 2018 in South Korea.
Jung So-Min is cast for tvN drama series “Hundred Million Stars From the Sky” co-starring Seo In-Guk. The drama series is a remake of 2002 Fuji TV drama series “Hundred Million Stars From the Sky” starring Takuya Kimura and Eri Fukatsu in the respective lead roles.
For “Hundred Million Stars From the Sky,” Jung So-Min will play lead female character Yoo Jin-Kang. When she was little, she lost her parents in an accident. Her older brother Yoo Jin-Kook then raised her with love. Now, she works as an advertisement designer. After she meets Kim Moo-Young (Seo In-Guk), her life changes.
“Hundred Million Stars From the Sky” first airs sometime in the second half of this year in South Korea.
Yukino Kishii and Ryo Narita are cast in movie “What is Love” (literal title). The film is based on 2003 novel “Ai ga Nanda” by Mitsuyo Kakuta. Other novels by Mitsuyo Kakuta that have been adapted into films include “Hanging Garden,” “Rebirth” and “Pale Moon.”Rikiya Imaizumi will direct the film. Story for “What is Love” follows a woman who has fallen completely in love with a man who does not feel the same way about her.
“What is Love” will be released sometime next year in Japan.
Teaser trailer for TBS drama series “Cheer Dance” starring Tao Tsuchiya. The drama series is a sequel/spin-off of 2017 movie “Let’s Go, Jets” which was based on the true story of the “Jets” cheer dance club at Fukui Chuo High School. Actor Joe Odagiri will have play supporting role in the drama series as a teacher and actress Suzu Hirose will make a cameo appearance as Hikari Tomonaga from the movie “Let’s Go, Jets.”
“Cheer Dance” first airs July 13, 2018 in Japan.
Ryo Yoshizawa cast in TV Tokyo drama series “Giver: Revenge’s Giver” (literal title). The drama series is based on 2016 novel “Giver: Fukushu no Zoyosha” by Sou Hino. Premise for the drama series revolves around a revenge agency who takes revenge on behalf of their clients.

Teaser trailer and poster added for upcoming omnibus film “Ten Years Japan.” The film is produced by Hirokazu Koreeda who just won the top prize at this year;s Cannes Film Festival for his film “Shoplifters.” The film features 5 short stories dealing with issues like A.I., nuclear power, digital society, aging society and military draft. Cast members include Satoru Kawaguchi, Jun Kunimura, Hana Sugisaki, Chizuru Ikewaki and Taiga.
“Ten Years Japan” will be released sometime this autumn in Japan.
First script reading for OCN drama series “Voice 2” took place May 23, 2018 at Studio Dragon in Sangam-dong, Seoul, South Korea. Main cast members including Lee Jin-Wook, Lee Ha-Na, Son Eun-Seo and An Se-Ha attended. After the first script reading finished, Lee Jin-Wook stated “Please give lots of love to drama series ‘Voice 2’ which will make this summer cool.” Lee Ha-Na stated “The script is good. It makes people think about the dangers of crime taking place around them and emphasizes prevention.” Actor Jang Hyuk opted to not appear in “Voice 2.”

Yoon Gyun-Sang is now cast for the lead male role in JTBC drama series “Clean With Passion For Now” co-starring Kim You-Jung. Production for the drama series was halted earlier this year, while Kim You-Jung received treatment for hypothyroidism. The delay caused Ahn Hyo-Seop to drop out of the drama series and led to Yoon Gyun-Sang replacing him. For the drama series, Yoon Gyun-Sang will play Jang Sun-Gyeol. His character has a fear of germs and he is the CEO of a cleaning company. His life goes smoothly, but things change when Gil O-Sol (Kim You-Jung ) jumps into his life.
“Clean With Passion For Now” is now scheduled to first air November, 2018 in South Korea.
Go Ara has been offered a lead role in new SBS drama series “Hatch.” Currently, Go Ara is considering the offer. The drama series is set during the Joseon era and features a script with adventure. If Go Ara accepts, she will play Yeo-Ji. Her character is an enthusiastic damo. She is good in the martial arts and conducting investigations. She also speaks Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
“Hatch” will first air September, 2018 in South Korea (takes over SBS’ Saturday 9PM time slot after “About Her“).
