Masahiro Motoki, Masaki Suda, & Yuriko Yoshitaka cast in movie “Kokurojo”

Masahiro Motoki, Masaki Suda, and Yuriko Yoshitaka are cast for lead roles in mystery-period film “Kokurojo.” Movie is based on 2021 novel “Kokurojo” by Honobu Yonezawa, which won the 166th Naoki Prize in 2021. The film also marks director Kiyoshi Kurosawa first foray into a sengoku period set mystery film. Also cast for the movie are Munetaka Aoki, Ryota Miyadate, Tasuku Emoto, and Joe Odagiri. Masahiro Motoki will play Murashige Araki. His castle is surrounded by forces loyal to Nobunaga Oda. A series of mysterious events takes place within the castle at this time. The first teaser trailer and poster has also been added at AsianWiki.

“Kokurojo” will be released sometime later this year in Japan.

Teaser trailer and poster added for Netflix drama series “Straight to Hell” starring Erika Toda. Drama series is based on the true story of Kazuko Hosoki. She dropped out of high school and became successful as a hostess in Ginza. She then made her mark by becoming a fortune teller. Erika Toda will play Kazuko Hosoki from the age of 17 to 66.

“Straight to Hell” is now set to premiere April 27, 2026.

Koo Kyo-Hwan, Go Youn-Jung, Oh Jung-Se, Kang Mal-Geum, & Park Hae-Joon are cast in JTBC drama series “Everyone Is Fighting Against Their Own Worthlessness” (literal title). Drama series is scripted by Park Hae-Young (“My Mister“) and directed by Cha Young-Hoon (“When the Camellia Blooms“). Setup for the drama series will revolve around people who work in the film industry and must deal with insecurities and jealousy.

Daigo Nishihata & Riko Fukumoto cast in movie “The Wage of Angel of Death is 300 Yen Per Hour”

Daigo Nishihata & Riko Fukumoto are cast in movie “The Wage of Angel of Death is 300 Yen Per Hour.” The film is based on 2017 novel “Jikyuu 300 yen no Shinigami” by Fujimaru and directed by  Mai Sakai (“You Made My Dawn“). In the up film, Daigo Nishihata will play university student Shinji Sakura. He is also in heavy debt. He gets introduced into a part-time job as a Grim Reaper by university student Yuki Hanamori (Riko Fukumoto). The first teaser trailer has also been released.

“The Wage of Angel of Death is 300 Yen Per Hour” will be released sometime this autumn in Japan.

Main cast for movie “Sword: The Sword of Godumakhan”

Park Bo-Gum, Joo Won, Jung Jae-Young, Lee Sun-Bin, and Bibi are cast in historical action film “Sword: The Sword of Godumakhan” (literal title). The movie will be directed by Kim Han-Min (“Roaring Currents“). Story for “Sword: The Sword of Godumakhan” is set in the year 668, right after the fall of Goguryeo. Park Bo-Gum will play Chil-Seong, who lost his memory and takes part in a gladiator tournament. His rival in the tournament is Kyepil Ha-Ryeok played by Joo Won.

“Sword: The Sword of Godumakhan” is planned for release summer, 2027 in South Korea.

Jung So-Min, Ryoo Seung-Bum, Lee Soo-Hyuk, and Ryu Kyung-Soo are cast in Netflix drama series “The Dealer.” The gambling-crime drama series will be directed by Choi Young-Hwan, who has previously has worked as the cinematographer for movies like “Tazza,” “Veteran,” and “The Thieves.” Meanwhile, Hwang Dong-Hyuk, the director and screenwriter for Netflix drama series “Squid Game,” will work on the drama series as the planner and a producer.
