Masaki Suda and Tao Tsuchiya cast in live-action film “My Little Monster”

Masaki Suda and Tao Tsuchiya are cast in live-action film “My Little Monster.” The live-action film is based on manga “Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun” by Robico and will be directed by Sho Tsukikawa. The film is also set to become Masaki Suda’s last film where he plays a high school student. For the upcoming live-action film, Masaki Suda will play troublemaker Haru Yoshida. His character doesn’t have any friends. Tao Tsuchiya will play Shizuku Mizutani. She only thinks about her grades and doesn’t have friends. Haru Yoshida develops feelings for Shizuku Mizutani due to a small misunderstanding.

“My Little Monster” will be released next year in Japan.

English subtitled teaser for movie “Birds Without Names”

English subtitled teaser trailer for upcoming movie “Birds Without Names” (English title) starring Yu Aoi, Sadao Abe, Tori Matsuzaka & Yutaka Takenouchi. Movie is based on the novel “Kanojo ga Sono Mei wo Shiranai Toritachi” by Mahokaru Numata and directed by Kazuya Shiraishi. The teaser trailer begins with the familiar piano piece “Variations on a Theme of Paganini” found in movie “Confessions,” but the ending features a dreamy time change ala a classic Mojave 3 song.

“Birds Without Names” opens October 28, 2017 in Japan.

Trailer for movie “Papa no Obento wa Sekai Ichi”

Trailer added for movie “Papa no Obento wa Sekai Ichi” (literally “Papa’s Lunch Box Is the Best in the World”) starring Toshimi Watanabe & Rena Takeda. The trailer begins with Midori (Rena Takeda) picking up a note next to her lunch box which was written by her father (Toshimi Watanabe). The note says  “Midori, from today papa will make you a lunch box.”

“Papa no Obento wa Sekai Ichi” opens June 10, 2017 in Japan.

More castings for movie “Before We Vanish”

7 supporting actors have been announced for upcoming movie “Before We Vanish” starring Masami Nagasawa & Ryuhei Matsuda. The newly announced cast members are Atsuko Maeda, Shinnosuke Mitsushima, Masahiro Higashide, Kyoko Koizumi, Kazuya Kojima, Ken Mitsuishi & Takashi Sasano. Movie is directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa and will have its world premiere in the “Un Certain Regard” section at this year’s Cannes Film Festival (May 17-28, 2017). Of note from the supporting characters, Atsuko Maeda will play the younger sister of Narumi Kase  (Masami Nagasawa) and Kyoko Koizumi will play a doctor who is key character in the film.

Trailer for movie “Umibe no Sei to Shi”

Trailer for movie “Umibe no Sei to Shi” starring Hikari Mitsushima & Kento Nagayama. Movie is based on the essay  “Umibe no Sei to Shi” and novel “Shima no Hate” by husband and wife Toshio Shimao and Miho Shimao. Story for the film is set at the end of World War II and revolves around an elementary school teacher (Hikari Mitsushima) on an island and a navy lieutenant (Kento Nagayama).

“Umibe no Sei to Shi” will be released July 29, 2017 in Japan.

Haruka Ayase and Kentaro Sakaguchi cast in movie “Tonight, At Romance Theater”

Haruka Ayase and Kentaro Sakaguchi are cast in movie “Tonight, At Romance Theater” (literal title). Movie is scripted by Keisuke Uyama and directed by Hideki Takeuchi. In the upcoming film, Kentaro Sakaguchi will play young movie director Kenji. He falls in love with Princess Miyuki played by Haruka Ayase. Princess Miyuki is character from a black and white movie.

Filming for “Tonight, At Romance Theater” takes place from April, 2017 through June, 2017.

Sho Hirano and Yuna Taira cast in live-action film “Honey”

Sho Hirano (‘Kansai Johnnys’ Jr’) and Yuna Taira are cast in live-action film “Honey.” The movie is based on manga series “Honey” by Amu Meguro and will be directed by Koji Shintoku. In movie “Honey,” Yuna Taira will play high school student Nao Kogure. She is asked out by Taiga Onise (Sho Hirano) and she is too scared to turn him down. It turns out, he has sensitive qualities even though he seems like a bad boy. For the film, Sho Hirano had his hair dyed red and Yuna Taira had her hair cut.

“Honey” will be released during spring, 2018 in Japan.

Teaser trailer #2 for movie “The Miracles of the Namiya General Store”

Teaser trailer #2 added for upcoming movie “The Miracles of the Namiya General Store” starring Ryosuke Yamada, Toshiyuki Nishida, Machiko Ono & Nijiro Murakami. Movie is based on 2011 novel “Namiya Zakkaten no Kiseki” by Keigo Higashino and directed by Ryuichi Hiroki. Storu for “The Miracles of the Namiya General Store” revolves around a mailbox at a general store that sends letter between the past and present. Teaser trailer #2 also features actual footage from the film for the first time.

“The Miracles of the Namiya General Store” opens September 23, 2017 in Japan.
