Trailer and poster for movie “Kaisen Zenya”

Trailer and poster added for movie “Kaisen Zenya” starring Sosuke Ikematsu. Movie is based on non-fiction novel “Showa 16-nen Natsu no Haisen” by Naoki Inose and directed by Yuya Ishii (“The Moon“). Story for “Kaisen Zenya” is set in April of 1941, 8 months before the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. At this time, the Total War Research Institute runs simulations on a possible war and comes to the definitive conclusion that Japan will lose.

“Kaisen Zenya” will be released July 31, 2026 in Japan.

Teaser trailer and poster added for movie “Gosh!!” starring Joe Odagiri & Sosuke Ikematsu. The film is also written and directed by Joe Odagiri. Joe Odagiri previously wrote, directed, and starred in 3 episode 2021 NHK drama series “Gosh!! – Police Dog Oliver and His Handler’s Bizarre Case Files.” Premise for the movie, has Sosuke Ikematsu play Police Officer Ippei Aoba. His partner is canine dog Oliver (Joe Odagiri), who only appears to Ippei Aoba as a womanizing middle-aged drunk in a dog suit.

“Gosh!!” will be released September 26, 2025 in Japan.

Shun Oguri, Tori Matsuzaka, Sosuke Ikematsu, and Yosuke Kubozuka are cast in movie “Frontline.” The film is based on the true story of the Diamond Princess luxury cruise ship that was quarantined off Japan for two weeks in 2020 due to an outbreak of the coronavirus. A teaser poster and teaser trailer, which can be viewed at AsianWiki, has also been released.

“Frontline” will be released June, 2025 in Japan.

Sosuke Ikematsu cast in movie “Honshin”

Sosuke Ikematsu is cast for the lead role in movie “Honshin.” Also cast in supporting roles are Ayaka Miyoshi, Koshi Mizukami, Taiga Nakano, Min Tanaka, Go Ayano, Satoshi Tsumabuki, and Yuko Tanaka.  The film is based on 2021 novel “Honshin” by Keiichiro Hirano (“After the Matinee“) and directed by Yuya Ishii (“The Moon“). Story for “Honshin” will examine positive and negative aspects of rapidly developing technology like AI and VR, through main character Sakuya Ishikawa played by Sosuke Ikematsu. He is unable to get past the death of his mother and asks a developer to create his mother in a virtual setting.

“Honshin” will be released November 8, 2024 in Japan.

Sosuke Ikematsu, Taiga Nakano, & Daichi Watanabe cast in Disney+ drama “Kisetsu no Nai Machi”

Sosuke Ikematsu, Taiga Nakano, and Daichi Watanabe are cast in Disney+ drama series “Kisetsu no Nai Machi.” The drama series is based on 1962 novel “Kisetsu no Nai Machi” by Shugoro Yamamoto, which was previously adapted into 1970 movie “Dodesukaden” by Akira Kurosawa. Kankuro Kudo writes and directs the Disney+ drama series version. The story is set within an area of temporary housing that was built after a disaster 12 years earlier.

“Kisetsu no Nai Machi” will have all 10 episodes available to stream from August 9, 2023.

Sosuke Ikematsu, Joe Odagiri, & Choi Hee-Seo cast in movie “Angel of Asia”

Sosuke Ikematsu, Joe Odagiri, and Choi Hee-Seo are cast in movie “Angel of Asia” (literal title of “Asia no Tenshi”). The film is written and directed by Yuya Ishii. Filming for the movie was done entirely in South Korea from February to March, 2020. “Angel of Asia” is expected to be released spring, 2021 in South Korea and sometime during 2021 in Japan. Sosuke Ikematsu will play Takeshi Aoki, Joe Odagiri will play his older brother who lives in South Korea, and Choi Hee-Seo will play Choi Seol.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Takeshi Aoki (Sosuke Ikematsu) lives with his 8 years old son Manabu. His wife died from an illness. He has an older brother (Joe Odagiri), but they became estranged. Takeshi Aoki and his son Manabu travel to Seoul, South Korea where his older brother lives. His older brother is not doing well at all, unlike Takeshi’s expectation. His older brother practically lives from hand to mouth. Even though Takeshi is unable to speak Korean, he needs to help his brother’s work, which is to import and sell cosmetics of dubious quality.

Meanwhile, Choi Seol (Choi Hee-Seo) sings a song on the stage at a traditional market, which nobody listens to. Due to the CEO of her management agency, she is unable to sing her own song. She also has problems with her older brother and younger sister.

Takeshi and his older brother get involved with Choi Seol.
