Teaser trailer and poster added for movie “Gosh!!” starring Joe Odagiri & Sosuke Ikematsu. The film is also written and directed by Joe Odagiri. Joe Odagiri previously wrote, directed, and starred in 3 episode 2021 NHK drama series “Gosh!! – Police Dog Oliver and His Handler’s Bizarre Case Files.” Premise for the movie, has Sosuke Ikematsu play Police Officer Ippei Aoba. His partner is canine dog Oliver (Joe Odagiri), who only appears to Ippei Aoba as a womanizing middle-aged drunk in a dog suit.

“Gosh!!” will be released September 26, 2025 in Japan.

Joe Odagiri and Akari Takaishi are cast in movie “Natsu no Suna no Ue.” The film is based on 1998 theatrical play “Natsu no Suna no Ue” scripted by Masataka Matsuda and directed by Shinya Tamada (“Lust in a Karaoke Box“). Also cast for supporting roles are Takako Matsu, Hikari Mitsushima, Fumiya Takahashi, Naotaro Moriyama, & Ken Mitsuishi. Story for the “Natsu no Suna no Ue” will have Joe Odagiri play Osamu Koura. After losing his young son, he life came to a complete stop. His sister (Hikari Mitsushima) then asks him to take care of her 17-year-old daughter Yuko (Akari Takaishi).

Rie Miyazawa is cast for the lead role in movie “Tsuki.” Also cast for the film are Hayato Isomura, Fumi Nikaido, Joe Odagiri, Eri Nagai, Hirota Otsuka, Hideyuki Kasahara, Yuka Itaya, Morooka Moro, Shingo Tsurumi, Hideko Hara, & Atsuko Takahata. The movie is based on 2017 novel “Tsuki” by Yo Hemmi and directed by Yuya Ishii (“The Great Passage“). For the movie “Tsuki,” Rie Miyazawa will play Yoko Dojima. She begins to work at a facility for the severely disabled.

“Tsuki” will be released October 13, 2023 in Japan.

Teaser trailer and release date set for movie “What to Do with the Dead Kaiju?” starring Ryosuke Yamada & Tao Tsuchiya. Movie is written and directed by the always quirky Satoshi Miki (“The Insects Unlisted in the Encyclopedia“). Also announced today are the first batch of supporting actors for the film and they are Gaku Hamada, Joe Odagiri, & Toshiyuki Nishida.

“What to Do with the Dead Kaiju?” is now set for release February 4, 2022 in Japan.

Sosuke Ikematsu, Joe Odagiri, & Choi Hee-Seo cast in movie “Angel of Asia”

Sosuke Ikematsu, Joe Odagiri, and Choi Hee-Seo are cast in movie “Angel of Asia” (literal title of “Asia no Tenshi”). The film is written and directed by Yuya Ishii. Filming for the movie was done entirely in South Korea from February to March, 2020. “Angel of Asia” is expected to be released spring, 2021 in South Korea and sometime during 2021 in Japan. Sosuke Ikematsu will play Takeshi Aoki, Joe Odagiri will play his older brother who lives in South Korea, and Choi Hee-Seo will play Choi Seol.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Takeshi Aoki (Sosuke Ikematsu) lives with his 8 years old son Manabu. His wife died from an illness. He has an older brother (Joe Odagiri), but they became estranged. Takeshi Aoki and his son Manabu travel to Seoul, South Korea where his older brother lives. His older brother is not doing well at all, unlike Takeshi’s expectation. His older brother practically lives from hand to mouth. Even though Takeshi is unable to speak Korean, he needs to help his brother’s work, which is to import and sell cosmetics of dubious quality.

Meanwhile, Choi Seol (Choi Hee-Seo) sings a song on the stage at a traditional market, which nobody listens to. Due to the CEO of her management agency, she is unable to sing her own song. She also has problems with her older brother and younger sister.

Takeshi and his older brother get involved with Choi Seol.

Joe Odagiri & Kumiko Aso cast in TV Asahi drama series “Time Limit Investigator 2019”

Joe Odagiri & Kumiko Aso are cast in TV Asahi drama series “Time Limit Investigator 2019” (working title). Joe Odagiri and Kimiko Aso will reprise their roles of Shuichiro Kiriyama and Shizuka Mikazuki which they previously played in 2006 TV Asahi drama series “Time Limit Investigator” and 2007 TV Asahi drama series “Time Limit Investigator, Season 2.” Satoshi Miki will also return to direct & write the screenplay for the drama series.

“Time Limit Investigator 2019” will air sometime this year in Japan.

Elaiza Ikeda cast in TBS-MBS drama series “Room Laundering”

Elaiza Ikeda is cast in TBS-MBS drama series “Room Laundering.” The drama series is a sequel to 2018 movie “Room Laundering” starring Elaiza Ikeda. Also set to return in the drama series version are Kiyohiko Shibukawa, Kentaro Ito, Tomorowo Taguchi and Joe Odagiri. Meanwhile, Eita Okuno will play a new character not found in the original movie. The drama series will be directed by Kenji Katagiri who directed the movie version.

“Room Laundering” will first air November 4, 2018 on MBS and November 6, 2018 on TBS in Japan.
