First script reading for MBC drama series “You Are Too Much”

First script reading for upcoming MBC drama series “You Are Too Much,” starring Uhm Jung-Hwa & Ku Hye-Sun, took place recently at MBC Dream Center in Ilsan, South Korea.  Main cast members including Uhm Jung-Hwa, Ku Hye-Sun, Kang Tae-Oh, Jung Gyu-Woon, Jeon Kwang-Leol & Son Tae-Young all attended. The drama series follows a popular pop singer (Uhm Jung-Hwa) and a woman who works as her impersonator (Ku Hye-Sun).

“You Are Too Much” will first air March 4, 2017 in South Korea (takes over MBC’s Saturday and Sunday 8:40 PM time slot after “Blow Breeze.”

Gou Ayano cast in NTV drama series “Frankenstein’s Love”

Gou Ayano is cast in new NTV drama series “Frankenstein’s Love” (literal title of “Furankenshutain no Koi”). The drama series is scripted by Sumio Omori and directed by Shunsuke Kariyama and Yoshinori Shigeyama. Story for the drama series is set in the present day and follows a monster (Gou Ayano) who was created over a hundred years ago. The monster possesses super physical ability and is immortal, but he years for humans. He then meets a woman Tsugaru and falls in love.

“Frankenstein’s Love” will first air this April in Japan.

First still images of Ko Ah-Sung in MBC drama series “Self Radiation Office”

First still images of Ko Ah-Sung in upcoming MBC drama series “Self Radiation Office” co-starring Ha Seok-Jin. The still images were taken on Ko Ah-Sung’s first day of filming for the drama series, which took place February 1, 2017 at a small restaurant in Mapo District, Seoul, South Korea. In her first scene, Eun Ho-Won (Ko Ah-Sung) works part-time at a small restaurant and gets a hard time from a customer.

“Self Radiation Office” will first air March 15, 2017 in South Korea.

Trailer for movie “The Blue Hearts”

Trailer added for upcoming omnibus film “The Blue Hearts.” The movie features 6 segments directed by Sang-il Lee, Ken Iizuka & Ten Shimoyama among others. What binds the 6 segments together is the music of Japanese rock band “The Blue Hearts” (their song “Linda Linda Linda” featured prominently in Nobuhiro Yamashita‘s 2005 film “Linda Linda Linda“). The directors picked their favorite songs by the band and made a short film based around the song.

“The Blue Hearts” opens April 8, 2017 in Japan.

Yoo Ah-In offered lead role in tvN drama series “Chicago Typewriter”

Yoo Ah-In has been offered a lead role in upcoming tvN drama series “Chicago Typewriter” (literal title). Currently, Yoo Ah-In is considering the offer. If Yoo Ah-In accepts, he will play bestselling writer Han Se-Joo. He possesses a sensitive and prickly personality. Premise for the drama series revolves around writers who lived under Japanese occupation in the 1930’s and are reincarnated into the present day. The writers are reincarnated into a bestselling writer, a ghostwriter and an anti-fan. Meanwhile, Yoo Ah-In is waiting to take his medical examination to enlist in the South Korean military (which is a mandatory requirement for all male South Korean citizens) in the near future.

“Chicago Typewriter” will first air March, 2017 in South Korea (takes over tvN’s Friday and Saturday 8PM time slot after “Tomorrow With You“).

Kento Yamazaki & Tomokazu Miura cast in movie “A Forest of Wool and Steel”

Kento Yamazaki & Tomokazu Miura are cast in new movie “A Forest of Wool and Steel” (“Hitsuji to Hagane no Mori”). The film is based on 2015 novel “Hitsuji to Hagane no Mori” by Natsu Miyashita, which won the 13th Japan Booksellers’ Award in 2016. Kojiro Hashimoto, who worked with Kento Yamazaki in 2015 film “Orange,” will direct the film. In the film, Kento Yamazaki will play Naoki Tomura. He is a high school student in a small Hokkaido village. Once he hears Soichiro Itadori (Tomokazu Miura) tune the piano at his high school, his life changes. He tries to become a piano tuner himself.

“A Forest of Wool and Steel” will be released 2018 in Japan.
