Teaser trailer for live-action film “Tonde Saitama”

Teaser trailer and poster added for upcoming live-action film “Tonde Saitama” starring Fumi Nikaido and Gackt. Movie is based on manga “Tonde Saitama” by Mineo Maya and directed by Hideki Takeuchi. The has unusual prmemise of Fumi Nikaido playing a teen boy who looks like a girl and Gackt playing a high school student. It’s set in a world where people from Saitama are persecuted.

“Tonde Saitama” will be released February 22, 2018 in Japan.

Filming for movie “The Divine Fury” begins

Filming for upcoming movie “The Divine Fury,” starring Park Seo-JoonAhn Sung-Ki and Woo Do-Hwan, began August 14, 2018. The promotional photo above is from a ceremony for the film that took place August 11, 2018. There, Park Seo-Joon stated, “It will be a long journey. The most important thing is nobody should get hurt. I will hard for the movie. The film follows a martial arts champion (Park Seo-Joon) and a exorcist (Ahn Sung-Ki) as they battle an evil. Movie is directed by Kim Joo-Hwan who worked with Park Seo-Joon in last year’s buddy cop film “Midnight Runners.”

“The Divine Fury” will be released sometime next year in South Korea.

First still images of Seo In-Guk and Jung So-Min in tvN drama series “The Smile Has Left Your Eyes”

Here’s the first still images of Seo In-Guk and Jung So-Min in upcoming tvN drama series “The Smile Has Left Your Eyes.” Drama series is a remake of 2002 Fuji TV drama series “Hundred Million Stars From the Sky” (“Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi”). The first still images from the drama series are from a scene filmed July, 2018 in Mapo-district, Seoul, South Korea. This scene is of the first meeting between Kim Moo-Young (Seo In-Guk) and Yoo Jin-Kang (Jung So-Min).

Lastly, ep.1 air date is now set for September 26, 2018 in South Korea (takes over tvN’s Wednesday and Thursday 9:30 PM time slot after “Familiar Wife“).

Teaser trailer and poster for movie “Futatsu no Kino to Boku no Mirai”

Teaser trailer and poster added for movie “Futatsu no Kino to Boku no Mirai” starring Gaku Sano and Itsuki Sagara. Movie is directed by Kenichi Ohmori. The film follows a young man who enters a cave during a rainstorm and finds himself in an parallel world when he exits.

“Futatsu no Kino to Boku no Mirai” will be released first in Niihama, Ehime Prefecture, Japan on November 9, 2018 and will have its nationwide release sometime after that.

Choi Tae-Joon and Sooyoung cast in drama series “So I Married an Anti-Fan”

Choi Tae-Joon and Sooyoung (‘Girls’ Generation’) are cast in new drama series “So I Married an Anti-Fan” (literal title). The drama series is based on 2010 novel “Geuraeseo Naneun Antipaengwa Gyeolhonhaedda” by Kim Eun-Jung and directed by Kang Cheol-Woo. The drama series will be half pre-production. For “So I Married an Anti-Fan,” Choi Tae-Joon will play a top star with a bad public image and Sooyoung will play a former reporter who believes she lost her job because of the top star. They both decide to take part in a reality show revolving around a top star and his anti-fan.

Exact air dates or airing network for “So I Married an Anti-Fan” has yet to be decided.

Yoo Jae-Myung and Ji Soo cast in JTBC drama special “Ping Pong Ball”

Yoo Jae-Myung and Ji Soo are cast in JTBC drama special “Ping Pong Ball.” The drama special is part of “JTBC Drama Festa” series which includes last year’s drama special “Summer Days; Yeo-Reum.”  The first script reading for “Ping Pong Ball” took place August 8, 2018 at JTBC building in Sangam, Seoul, South Korea. Yoo Jae-Myung, Ji Soo, Choi Kwang-Il, Lee Ha-Yul, Seo Dong-Gab, Jung Young-Ki all attended the first script reading. For the drama special, Yoo Jae-Myung will play homeless man Kim Deuk-Hwan and Ji Soo will play university student Kim Young-Joon. They bound over their failures in romance.

“Ping Pong Ball” will air sometime this September in South Korea.

Park Bo-Young cast in tvN drama series “Abyss”

Park Bo-Young is cast in new tvN drama series “Abyss” (working title). The drama series falls in the fantasy-romance genre and is scripted by Moon Soo-Yun. For drama series “Abyss,” Park Bo-Young will play a prosecutor. Her character is beautiful, but a mysterious bead causes her appearance to change to a common appearance. Casting for the male lead has not yet been announced.

“Abyss” will first air sometime during the first half of next year in South Korea.

Yu Hae-Jin and Ryoo Joon-Yeol cast in period film “Battle”

Yu Hae-Jin and Ryoo Joon-Yeol are cast in new movie “Battle” (literal title). The film will be directed by Won Shin-Yeon and distributed by Showbox. The film is set when Korea was under Japanese colonial rule and takes place over 4 days in Manchuria, China. There, Korean independence militia battle the Japanese military. Yu Hae-Jin will play an expert swordsman for the militia and Ryoo Joon-Yeol will play an expert marksmen for the militia. The script reading for the film has already taken place and filming will begin August 16, 2018.

“Battle” will be released sometime next year in South Korea.

Keiko Kitagawa cast in NHK drama special “Fake News”

Keiko Kitagawa is cast in NHK drama special “Fake News.” The drama series features an original screenplay by Akiko Nogi and will be directed by Kentaro HorikirizonoYoshiharu Sasaki.  In the drama series, Keiko Kitagawa will play Itsuki Shinonome. She is a reporter for a website and she covers a story about caterpillars found in instant food. Ken Mitsuishi, Hirofumi Arai, Kento Nagayama, Yuma Yamoto, Ryo Iwamatsu and Tetta Sugimoto are cast in supporting roles.

“Fake News” first airs October 20, 2018.
