See list of winners & nominees at the 2021 BaekSang Arts Awards

See list of winners and nominees at the 2021 BaekSang Arts Awards, that just concluded in Seoul, South Korea. On the feature film side, Director Lee Joon-Ik won the Grand Prize for “The Book of Fish” and “Samjin Company English Class” won the Best Film award. On the drama series side, JTBC drama series “Beyond Evil” was the bigger winner with awards for “Best Drama,” “Best Screenplay,” and “Best Actor” (Shin Ha-Kyun).

Choi Myoung-Gil & So E-Hyun cast in KBS2 drama “Red Shoes”

Choi Myoung-Gil, So E-Hyun, Park Yoon-Jae, & Shin Jung-Yun are cast in KBS2 weekday morning drama series “Red Shoes” (literal title). Choi Myoung-Gil and So E-Hyun will play mother and daughter, but become antagonists as the daughter tries to get revenge on her mother. Park Yoon-Jae will play Yoon Ki-Seok, a love interest of Kim Zem-Ma (So E-Hyun).

“Red Shoes” will air from the second half of this year in South Korea (takes over KBS2’s Monday – Friday 7:50 AM time slot after “Miss Monte-Cristo“).

Toshiaki Karasawa & Yoko Maki cast in NTV drama “Voice II”

Toshiaki Karasawa and Yoko Maki are cast in NTV drama series “Voice II.” The drama series is a sequel to 2019 NTV drama series “Voice,” which is a remake of 2017 OCN drama series “Voice” starring Jang Hyuk & Lee Ha-Na. Toshiaki Karasawa and Yoko Maki will reprise their characters of Detective Shogo Higuchi and Emergency Call Center Leader Hikari Tachibana.

“Voice II” will air from July, 2021 in Japan (takes over NTV’s Saturday 10PM time slot after “Life’s Punchline“).

Lee Joon-Ho & Lee Se-Young cast in MBC drama “The Red Sleeve Cuff”

Lee Joon-Ho (2PM) and Lee Se-Young are cast for lead roles in MBC period drama series “The Red Sleeve Cuff” (literal title). For Lee Joon-Ho, this will be his first acting role since he was discharged from the military on March 20, 2021. The drama series is based on novel series “Otsomae Beulgeun Kkeuddong” by Kang Mi-Kang. Lee Joon-Ho will play Crown Prince Lee San. He eventually becomes King Jeongjo. The crown prince meets Lady Sung Deok-Im (Lee Se-Young) and falls in love with her. Lady Sung-Deok-Im is a court lady who wants live her live freely. She pursues her own happiness at the palace and tries to sway away from strife there. Her peaceful life changes after she meets Crown Prince Lee San.

“The Red Sleeve Cuff” first airs sometime in the second half of this year in South Korea.

Arata Iura & Machiko Ono cast in movie “This is Amiko”

Arata Iura and Machiko Ono are cast in movie “This is Amiko” (literal title). The movie is based on 2011 novel “Kochira Amiko” by Natsuko Imamura (“Under the Stars“) and directed by Tatsushi Omori. In the movie, Arata Iura and Machiko Ono will play a married couple. Their daughter is title character Amiko. A serious of misfortune hits the family.

Filming will begin July, 2021 in Hiroshima. Auditions to cast main child characters Amiko and Ri-Kun are currently ongoing.

Character teaser for JTBC drama “Monthly House”

Character teaser trailer for JTBC drama series “Monthly House” starring Jung So-Min & Kim Ji-Suk. The character teaser trailer shows the different viewpoints of Na Young-Won (Jung So-Min) and Yoo Ja-Sung (Kim Ji-Suk) for a house. Both are asked “What is a house to you?” Na Young-Won answers “A safe heaven after a long and hard day.” Yoo Ja-Sung answers “A house is an investment. I want a house to buy, not to live.”

“Monthly House” first airs June 16, 2021 in South Korea.
