Lee Jae-Wook & Jo Bo-Ah cast in Netflix drama series “Hong-Rang”

Lee Jae-Wook & Jo Bo-Ah are cast for lead roles in Netflix drama series “Hong-Rang” (working title). The drama series is based on 2021 novel “Tangeum: Geumeul Samkida” by Jang Da-Hye and directed by Kim Hong-Sun (“Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area“). Also cast for major supporting character roles are Jung Ga-Ram, Uhm Ji-Won, Park Byung-Eun, & Kim Jae-Wook. The screenplay for “Hong-Rang” is set during the Joseon period and set within the mystery genre. Lee Jae-Wook will play mysterious figure Hong-Rang. He disappeared at the age of 8 and returns 12 years later. Jo Bo-Ah will play Hong-Rang’s stepsister Jae-Yi.

Ko Yoon-Jung cast in tvN drama “Someday Wise Resident Life”

Ko Yoon-Jung is cast for a lead role in new tvN drama series “Someday Wise Resident Life” (literal title). The drama series is a spin-off from “Hospital Playlist” and “Hospital Playlist 2.” While those two drama series were set Yulje Medical Center, the spin-off drama series will be set at its branch hospital Jongno Yulje Medical Center. Ko Yoon-Jung will play a first year OB-GYN resident in the drama series. Director Shin Won-Ho and Screenwriter Lee Woo-Jung, who worked together in the first two seasons of “Hospital Playlist,” will participate in “Someday Wise Resident Life” as show creators.

“Someday Wise Resident Life” will air sometime during the first half of 2024 in South Korea.

Han Ji-Eun cast in TVING drama “Study Group”

Han Ji-Eun is cast for the lead female role in TVING drama series “Study Group” co-starring Minhyun. Also cast for major supporting characters are Cha Woo-Min, Lee Jong-Hyun, Shin Soo-Hyun, Yun Sang-Jeong, and Gong Do-Yu. The drama series is based on webcomic “Study Group” by Shin Hyeong-Wook & Yoo Seung-Yeon. Actress Han Ji-Eun will play Lee Han-Kyung in “Study Group.” She is a teacher and dreams of bringing about change at school. She has a secret and begins working at Yoosung Vocation High School. That is a bit of an oddity in of itself as she scored at the top during her teacher exams. Meanwhile, Cha Woo-Min will play Pi Han-Wool. His character is the villain in the story and the most powerful student at his school The other 4 announced actors will play members of Yoon Ga-Min’s study group.

“Study Group” will be released sometime next year in South Korea.

Movie is based on 2021 ovel “Seiyoku” by Ryo Asai (“The Kirishima Thing“) and directed by Yoshiyuki Kishi (“Prior Convictions“). The trailer begins with Yui Aragaki as Natsuki Kiryu asking “Have you ever been unable to breathe, because you can’t explain to people what kind of person you are?” Meanwhile, the movie’s theme song has been announced as “Kokyu no You ni” by musician Vaundy.

The film is third installment in director Kim Han-Min‘s trilogy of films that depict Admiral Yi Sun-Shin’s three great navy battle.s The first installment is 2014 movie “Roaring Currents” starring Choi Min-Sik and the second installment is 2022 movie “Hansan: Rising Dragon” starring Park Hae-Il. For “Noryang: The Sea of Death” the story will depict the Battle of Noryang that took place on December 16, 1598. Hayato Isomura & Shodai Fukuyama are cast in movie “Wakaki Mishiranu Monotachi.” The film is written and directed by Takuya Uchiyama. The film will have Hayato Isomura & Shodai Fukuyama play brothers who live a difficult live. They work jobs to pay off their late father’s debt and take care of their ill mother. A violent incident then engulfs the other older brother played by Hayato Isomura. Filming for the movie began September 14, 2023.

“Wakaki Mishiranu Monotachi” will be released sometime next year in Japan.

The movie is scripted by Yuji Sakamoto (who recently won the best screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival for his movie “Monster“) and takes aboard giant cruise ship MSC Bellissima.
