Ai Hashimoto, Mugi Kadowaki and Ryo Narita are cast in movie “It’s Boring Here, Pick Me Up” (literal title). The film is based on 2012 novel “Koko wa Taikutsu Mukae ni Kite” by Mariko Yamauchi. Mariko Yamauchi also wrote the 2013 novel “Azumi Haruko wa Yukuefumei” which was adapted into movie “Japanese Girls Never Die.” In the “It’s Boring Here, Pick Me Up,” Ai Hashimoto will play lead character I. She returns to her hometown after spending 10 years in Tokyo. She still likes Shiina-kun (Ryo Narita) from her high school days. Mugi Kadowaki also plays a girl with the name I. Her ex-boyfriend is Shiina-kun and she still likes him as well. Movie is directed by Ryuichi Hiroki.
Filming for “It’s Boring Here, Pick Me Up” took place from June to July, 2017 and the film will be released this autumn in Japan.
