Hiyori Sakurada and Hayato Sano cast in NTV drama “Escape”

Hiyori Sakurada and Hayato Sano are cast in NTV drama series “Escape.” Drama series features an original screenplay scripted by Kayo Hikawa (“After School Doctor“) and directed by Naoko Komuro (“Secret Makeover“) & Makoto Naganuma (“Inheritance Detective“). Hiyori Sakurada will play Yui Yagami. She is the daughter of a pharmaceutical company president, but is kidnapped for ransom during her 20th birthday party. Hayato Sano will play Daisuke Hayashida. He is one of the people that takes part in her kidnapping. Circumstances will have them together as they try to escape.

“Escape” will first air October 8, 2025 in Japan (takes over NTV’s Wednesday 10 PM time slot after “Chihayafuru: Meguri“).

Hiyori Sakurada and Taisei Kido are cast in live-action film “A Side Character’s Love Story.” Movie is based on manga series “Mobuko no Koi” by Akane Tamura and directed by Hiroki Kazama (“Cheer Boys!!“). Story for the movie, will tell a love story between a somewhat timid young woman and a young man who works part-time at the same supermarket and they attend the same university.

“A Side Character’s Love Story” will be released summer, 2026 in Japan.

Fuju Kamio and Hiyori Sakurada cast in movie “Under the Big Onion”

Fuju Kamio and Hiyori Sakurada are cast in movie “Under the Big Onion.” The film is inspired by 1985 song “Okina Tamanegi no Shita de” (“Under the Big Onion”) by Bakufu-Slump. Story for the movie revolves around two part time workers at bar-cafe called “Double.” They never meet in person, but they communicate through a notebook used at work and fall in love. The first teaser trailer has been also been released and can be viewed at AsianWiki.

“Under the Big Onion” will be released February 7, 2025 in Japan.

Teaser trailer and teaser poster added for movie “Buzzy Noise” starring Takumi Kawanishi and Hiyori Sakurada. The film is based on manga series “Buzzy Noise” by Jun Mutsuki and directed by Hiroki Kazama (“Cheer Boys!!“). Caption on the teaser poster states at the top next to Takumi Kawanishi “All I need is music” and at the bottom next to Hiyori Sakurada “I want to hear the sound near you.”

“Buzzy Noise” will be released May, 2024 in Japan.

Trailer & poster for movie “Our Secret Diary”

Trailer and poster added for movie “Our Secret Diary” starring Fumiya Takahash and Hiyori Sakurada. The teen-romance film is based on 2017 novel “Kokan Uso Nikki” by Iiyo Sakura and directed by Kentaro Takemura (“MIU 404“). The film revolves around two high school students who begin sending messages to each other, but one of the recipients was supposed to be another person.

“Our Secret Diary” will be released July 7, 2023 in Japan.

Hiyori Sakurada cast in TBS-MBS drama “What Six Survivors Told”

Hiyori Sakurada is cast for the lead role in TBS-MBS live-acton drama series “What Six Survivors Told” (literal title). The drama series is based on manga series “Ikinokotta 6 nin ni Yoru to” by Kazune Yamamoto. Also cast in supporting roles are Reo Sano, Yurika Nakamura, Yuki Kura, Akari Takaishi, Arisa Yagi, Kosuke Tanaka, Maika Sasaki, & Yusuke Onuki. The drama series features a zombie-survival meets romantic-comedy script, with Hiyori Sakurada playing high school student Riri Mizukami. She takes shelter in a shopping mall, while everywhere outside is filled with zombies.

“What Six Survivors Told” consists of 6 episodes and will first air August 9, 2022 in Japan.

Ryusei Onishi and Hiyori Sakurada are cast in TV Asahi live-action drama series “Kanojo, Okarishimasu.” The drama series is based on manga series “Kanojo, Okarishimasu” by Reiji Miyajima. For “Kanojo, Okarishimasu.” Ryusei Onishi will play university student Kazuya Kinoshita. He gets dumped by his first girlfriend and turns to a rental girlfriend service to cheer himself up. Hiyori Sakurada will play Chizuru Mizuhara. She is a beautiful woman that works for the rental girlfriend service.

Trailer and poster added for movie “Mirai e no Katachi” starring Atsushi Ito, Rina Uchiyama, & Hiyori Sakurada. Movie is written and directed by Kenichi Ohmori (“The Book Peddler“). The movie’s theme song has also been revealed, which is “Mirai e no Katachi” by Han-Kun. Han-Kun is a member of reggae band Shonan no Kaze. Theme song “Mirai e no Katachi” is played on the trailer video. 

“Mirai e no Katachi” will be released May 7, 2021 in Japan.

Ikki Sawamura cast in WOWOW drama series “Kibogaoka no Hitobito”

Ikki Sawamura is cast in WOWOW drama series “Kibogaoka no Hitobito.” Also cast in the drama series are Emi Wakui, Hiyori Sakurada, Keita Ninomiya & Kazue Ito. The drama series is based 2009 novel “Kibogaoka no Hitobito” by Kiyoshi Shigematsu (“Tonbi“).

Story for “Kibogaoka no Hitobito,” has Ikki Sawamura playing Tajima. His wife, played by Emi Wakui, dies shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. He takes his two children to his late wife’s hometown and on a whim decides to live there with his children.

“Kibogaoka no Hitobito” first airs July 16, 2016 in Japan.
