Teaser trailer and poster for movie “Kingdom 5”

First teaser trailer and teaser poster added for sequel action film “Kingdom 5” starring Kento Yamazaki. Movie is the fifth installment in the “Kingdom” series of films that started with 2019 movie “Kingdom” and is based on manga series “Kingdom” by Yasuhisa Hara. Meanwhile, major supporting cast members have been announced for the 5th film and they are Ryo Yoshizawa, Kanna Hashimoto, Etsushi Toyokawa, Shun Oguri, and Yuki Yamada. All of whom will reprise characters they played in previous “Kingdom” films.

The release date for “Kingdom 5” is now set for July 17, 2026 in Japan.

Main trailer and poster for Netflix drama “Tokyo Swindlers”

Main trailer and poster added for Netflix drama series “Tokyo Swindlers” starring Go Ayano and Etsushi Toyokawa. The crime-suspense drama series is based on 2019 novel “Jimenshitachi” by Ko Shinjo and directed by Hitoshi One (“Tada’s Do-It-All House“). Caption on the poster states “All of these guys are crazy about land.”

“Tokyo Swindlers” will consist of 7 episode and will be available to stream July 25, 2024 in Japan.

Go Ayano and Etsushi Toyokawa cast in Netflix drama “Tokyo Swindlers”

Go Ayano and Etsushi Toyokawa are cast for lead roles in Netflix drama series “Tokyo Swindlers.” The drama series is based on 2019 novel “Jimenshitachi” by Ko Shinjo, which is inspired by a real life incident, and directed by Hitoshi One (“Tada’s Do-It-All House“). Both Go Ayano and Etsushi Toyokawa will play con artists in the drama series. They are involved in impersonating land owners and fake selling property to steal money. The first teaser trailer can be viewed at AsianWiki.

“Tokyo Swindlers” will consist of 7 episodes and will be available to stream July 25, 2024.

Tatsuya Fujiwara cast in movie “The Method of Repulsing the Dove”

Tatsuya Fujiwara is cast for the lead role in movie “The Method of Repulsing the Dove” (working title). Tao Tsuchiya, Shunsuke Kazama, Nanase Nishino and Etsushi Toyokawa are also also cast in supporting roles. The film is based on 2014 novel “Hato no Gekitaiho” by Shogo Sato and directed by Hideta Takahata. In addition, the first teaser trailer and teaser poster for the movie has been added on AsianWiki.

“The Method of Repulsing the Dove” will be released August 27, 2021.

Ren Komai & Etsushi Toyokawa cast in movie “Itomichi”

Ren Komai and Etsushi Toyokawa are cast in movie “Itomichi.” The film is based on 2011 novel “Itomichi” by Osamu Koshigaya (“Girl In The Sunny Place“) and directed by Satoko Yokohama (“Bare Essence of Life“). Ren Komai will play main character Ito Soma and Etushi Toyokawa will play her father Koichi Soma. Filming for the movie will begin mid-September, 2020 in Aomori Prefecture, including Aomori City, Hirosaki, and Itayanagi town. the movie will be released in 2021. 

“Itomichi” will be released sometime next year in Japan.

Etsushi Toyokawa cast in TV Asahi drama special “The Fugitive”

Etsushi Toyokawa is cast in TV Asahi drama special “The Fugitive” (literal title) co-starring Ken Watanabe. The drama special is a remake of the 1960’s U.S. television series “The Fugitive.” Etsushi Toyokawa will play Detective Squad Chief Masami Hosaka. He chases after fugitive Kazuki Kakurai (Ken Watanabe) who escaped from a prison transport bus. Seiji Izumi (“Aibou: Season 1“) will direct the drama special and screenplay adaptation is written by Masahiro Yoshimoto (“Cold Cases“). Above is a teaser poster for the drama special.

“The Fugitive” consists of 2 episodes and will air sometime later this year in Japan.

Supporting cast announced for movie “Punk Samurai Slash Down”

10 supporting cast members has been announced for upcoming movie “Punk Samurai Slash Down” starring Gou Ayano. Now cast in supporting roles are Keiko Kitagawa, Masahiro Higashide, Shota Sometani, Tadanobu Asano, Jun Murakami, Ryuya Wakaba, Koen Kondo, Kiyohiko Shibukawa, Jun Kunimura and Etsushi Toyokawa. The most unsurprising of those announced supporting actors would be Tadanobu Asano as he as previously appeared in numerous Gakuryu Ishii directed films like “Electric Dragon 80000V” and “Dead End Run.” Besides Gakuryu Ishii directing the film, Kankura Kudo writes the screenplay and the movie is based on 2004 novel “Panku Zamurai Kirarete Soro” by Ko Machida. The character cuts above is of the just announced cast members in character, but the top right is of Monkey Mask. The person who will play him has not yet been revealed.

“Punk Samurai Slash Down” will be released June 30, 2018 in Japan.
