Uhm Jung-Hwa and Ku Hye-Sun cat in MBC drama series “You Are Too Much”

Uhm Jung-Hwa and Ku Hye-Sun are cast in new MBC weekend drama series “You Are Too Much” (literal title). They join already cast Kang Tae-Oh from idol group ‘5urprise’. Story for “You Are Too Much” will revolve around Yoo Ji-Na (Uhm Jung-Hwa) and Jung Hae-Dang (Ku Hye-Sun). Yoo Ji-Na has been a popular singer for the past 20 years and Jung Hae-Dang works as an impersonator of Yoo Ji-Na to support her family.

“You Are Too Much” will first air February, 2017 in South Korea (takes over MBC’s Saturday and Sunday 8:40 PM time slot after “Blow Breeze“).

5 guest appearances announced for TV Tokyo drama series “Byplayers”

5 guest appearances have been announced for upcoming TV Tokyo drama series “Byplayers.” The guest appearances will have Koji Yakusho (ep.1), YosiYosi Arakawa (ep.2), Sosuke Ikematsu (ep.2), Sayaka Yamaguchi (ep.3) & Kenichi Takito (ep.3). For each of the guest appearances they will play themselves.

The drama series stars veteran actors Kenichi Endo, Ren Osugi, Tomorowo Taguchi, Susumu Terajima, Yutaka Matsushige & Ken Mitsuishi. Story for the drama series has the 6 veteran actors receiving roles in a big budget drama series. They are then asked by the director to live together for 3 months at a share house.

“Byplayers” first airs January 13, 2017 in Japan.

Park Bo-Gum offered lead role in movie “Seo Bok”

Park Bo-Gum has been offered the lead role in new movie “Seo Bok.” The film will be directed by Lee Yong-Joo (“Architecture 101“). Currently, Park Bo-Gum is considering the offer. If he does accept the role, he will play cloned human Seo Bok who possesses healing power. The story is based on the life Chinese historical figure Xu Fu (which is pronounced Seo Bok in Korea), but told from a modern viewpoint. Xu Fu was tasked twice by the First Emperor of Qin to find the elixir of life to gain immortality.

First script reading for MBC drama series “King Loves”

First script reading for MBC drama series “King Loves,” starring Siwan (‘ZE:A’), Yoona (‘Girls’ Generation’) & Hong Jong-Hyun, took place December 21, 2016 at MBC Broadcasting Station in Sangam, South Korea.

“King Loves” is set in a historical period. Siwan plays Wang Won who is the first mixed-blood king in Kingdom of Goryeo. He has a beautiful appearance and kind heart, but he also holds a twisted lust for conquest. Yoona plays Eun San. She is the only daughter of the wealthiest man in Kingdom of Goryeo. She captivates both Wang Won and his best friend Wang Rin (Hong Jong-Hyun). The relationship between Wang Won, Eun San and Wang Rin leads to collapse.

Air date for “King Loves” has yet to be decided.

First adult script reading for MBC drama series “Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People”

The first script reading for MBC drama series “Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People” involving the adult main characters took place December 30, 2016 at MBC Broadcasting Station in Sangam, South Korea. Main cast members including Yoon Gyun-Sang, Chae Soo-Bin, Lee Ha-Nui,Kim Ji-Suk, & Kim Sang-Joong all attended. An earlier script reading involved the child actors who will portray the younger versions of the main characters.

Meanwhile, first day of filming for Yoon Gyun-Sang actually began December 28, 2016 around Hwangmae Mountain in Gyeongsangnam Province, South Korea. He filmed scenes with Kim Ji-Suk.

“Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People” first airs January 30, 2017 in South Korea.

Hwang Jung-Min cast in movie “Operation” directed by Yoon Jong-Bin

Hwang Jung-Min is cast in new movie “Operation” (literal title) directed by Yoon Jong-Bin (“Nameless Gangster“). Also cast in the film are Lee Sung-Min, Cho Jin-Woong & Ju Ji-Hoon. Story for the film will be set in the 1990’s and revolves around a South Korean spy (Hwang Jung-Min) as he attempts to infiltrate North Korean nuclear development. Lee Sung-Min will play a key figure holding a powerful position in North Korea.  Cho Jin-Woong will play a person in charge of planning operation war against North Korea. He is the only aware of the spy’s real identity. Ju Ji-Hoon will play the Chief of State Security Department of North Korea.

Filming is expected to begin January 25, 2017 in South Korea.

Sung Joon cast in KBS2 drama series “Perfect Wife”

Sung Joon is cast for the lead male role in upcoming KBS2 drama series “Perfect Wife” starring Ko So-Young, Yoon Sang-Hyun & Cho Yeo-Jeong.

In drama series “Perfect Wife,” Sung Joon will play Kang Bong-Goo. He is an attractive lawyer who comes from a poor family background. He wants to enter high society by marrying a rich woman, but he becomes involved with Sim Jae-Bok (Ko So-Young).

First script reading for “Perfect Wife” will take place January 10, 2017 at the KBS Annex Building in Yeuido, Seoul.
