Takako Tokiwa is cast in NHK live-action drama special “Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms 2018”

Takako Tokiwa is cast in NHK live-action drama special “Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms 2018.” The drama special is based on manga “Yunagi no Machi, Sakura no Kuni” by Fumiyo Kono. The manga was previously adapted into 2007 film “Yunagi City, Sakura Country” with Rena Tanaka cast in the lead role. Also cast in supporting roles in the NHK drama special are Rina Kawaei, Fuka Koshiba, Yuna Taira, Asuka Kudo, Yosuke Asari, Shosuke Tanihara, Shuuji Kashiwabara, Mitsuo Sagawa, Midoriko Kimura and Isao Hashizume. The drama special deals with the effects of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Takako Tokiwa plays Nanami Ishikawa in the present day. She follows her father to Hiroshima due to his unusual behavior. There, she learns about what happened to his older sister.

“Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms 2018” will air August 6, 2018 in Japan (anniversary date of the Hiroshima atomic bombing).

Here’s the first still images of Han Ga-In in upcoming OCN drama series “Mistress.” In the drama series, Han Ga-In plays Jan Se-Yeon. She has lived with just her daughter since her husband went missing 2 years ago in a ship accident. She runs a cafe and she thinks her husband might still be alive. Drama series is a remake of UK television series “Mistresses.”

“Mistress” first airs April 28, 2018 in South Korea.

Trailer and release date for movie “True Fiction”

Trailer and release date added for movie “True Fiction” starring Ji Hyun-Woo and Oh Man-Seok. Movie had its world premiere at the 2018 Fantasporto film festival and walked away with “Best Film Award” and “Best Screenplay Award” for the Director’s Week section. The film is a suspense-thriller and follows an aspiring politician (Oh Man-Seok) who travels to his father-in-law’s vacation home to hide ill-gotten gains by his father-in-law. He meets a groundskeeper (Ji Hyun-Woo) there.

“True Fiction” will be released April 25, 2018 in South Korea.

Mugi Kadowaki cast in live-action film “Chiwawa-chan”

Mugi Kadowaki is cast for the lead role in upcoming live-action film “Chiwawa-chan.” The movie is based on manga of same name by Kyoko Okazaki (“River’s Edge“/”Helter Skelter“) and directed by Ken Ninomiya. Also cast in supporting roles are Ryo Narita, Kanichiro, Tina Tamashiro, Shiori Yoshida, Nijiro Murakami, Chiaki Kuriyama, and Tadanobu Asano. The film follows the death of a girl named “Chiwawa” whose dead body is found in pieces in Tokyo Bay. The film follows her friends who gather to remember her, but realize they didn’t know her well.

Filming for “Chiwawa-chan” began March 23, 2018 and the movie will be released sometime next year via Kadokawa Pictures.

Arata Iura cast in movie “Kohaku”

Arata Iura is cast in movie “Kohaku.” The film is based on Director Hatsuki Yokoo‘s own experience with fictional elements. In the film, Arata Iura will play Ryota Hironaga. When he was a kid, his parents’ divorce deeply affected him. As an adult, he goes with his older brother to find their father. Filming for the movie began today, March 27, 2018.

“Kohaku” will be released sometime next year in Japan.

First script reading for tvN drama series “Lawless Lawyer”

First script reading for tvN drama series “Lawless Lawyer,” starring Lee Joon-Gi and Seo Ye-Ji, took place February 28, 2018 at Studio Dragon in Sangamdong, Seoul, South Korea. At the first script reading, main cast members including Lee Joon-Gi , Seo Ye-Ji, Lee Hye-Young, Choi Min-Soo, Yum Hye-Ran and Lee Dae-Yeon all attended. The first script reading took over 3 hours to complete. The drama series has Lee Joon-Gi playing Bong Sang-Pil. He used to be a gang member, but he now works as a lawyer. Seo Ye-Ji plays enthusiastic lawyer Ha Jae-Yi. Lee Hye-Young plays respected Judge Cha Moon-Sook, but she is actually highly corrupt. Choi Min-Soo plays An O-Joo. He is a former gang member, but now CEO of a large company.

“Lawless Lawyer” first airs May 12, 2018 in South Korea.

Lee Sun-Bin cast in JTBC drama series “Sketch”

Lee Sun-Bin is cast for the lead female role in upcoming JTBC drama series “Sketch” co-starring Rain and Lee Dong-Gun. In the drama series, Lee Sun-Bin will play a female detective with the ability to see 3 days into the future. She sketches what she sees.

Filming for “Sketch” begins March 10, 2018 and the drama series will fist air May, 2018 in South Korea.

Sol Kyung-Gu and Jeon Do-Yeon are cast in movie “Birthday”

Sol Kyung-Gu and Jeon Do-Yeon are cast in movie “Birthday” (working and literal title). The movie is directed by first time film director Lee Jong-Eon. Lee Jong-Eon has worked under Lee Chang-Dong for his films “Poetry” (assistant director) and “Secret Sunshine” (screenplay assistant), as well Lee Chang-Dong produced film “A Brand New Life” (assistant director). For Sol Kyung-Gu and Jeon Do-Yeon they last worked together in 2001 film “I Wish I Had a Wife.” Movie “Birthday” will deal with a husband and wife who deal with the loss of their son. The script incorporates the real life tragedy of the MV Sewol ferry disaster.

Filming for “Birthday” will begin April, 2018.
