English title is now set for upcoming tvN drama series “Melting Me Softly” starring Ji Chang-Wook. The Korean title is “Nal Nokyeojuo” which is literally “Let Me Melt.” Actress Won Jin-A is still considering her offer to play the lead female role.
“Melting Me Softly” first airs sometime in the second half of this year in South Korea.
South Korean film “Parasite” has won the Palme d’Or award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The film written and directed by Bong Joon-Ho becomes the first ever South Korean film to win the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Last year’s winner of the Palme d’Or was Hirokazu Koreeda‘s “Shoplifters.” “Parasite” is a dark comedy about an unemployed family who takes a keen interest in a wealthy family.
“Parasite” will be released May 30, 2019 in South Korea.
Main trailer and character posters added for upcoming tvN drama series “Arthdal Chronicles” starring Song Joong-Ki, Jang Dong-Gun, Kim Ji-Won and Kim Ok-Vin. The character posters consists of the four lead characters: Eun-Sum (Song Joong-Ki), Tan-Ya (Kim Ji-Won), Ta-Gon (Jang Dong-Gun) and Taealha (Kim Ok-Vin).

Teaser trailer added for horror film “Shirai-san” starring Marie Iitoyo. In addition, Yu Inaba has been announced as the lead actor for the film. Movie is written and directed by Otsuichi. Yu Inaba will play Haruo. He investigates with Mizuki (Marie Iitoyo) a string of mysterious deaths.
“Shirai-san” will be released January, 2020 in Japan.

The teaser poster has an English tag line that states “People Are Flowers, Be Gentle.” In teaser trailer #4, caption at the 14 second mark states in Korean “The dead’s trace” and at the 21 second mark “Find the fabricated evidence.”

Masato Sakai is cast in TBS sequel drama series “Naoki Hanzawa” (working title). The drama series is based on novels “Rosujene no Gyakushuu” and “Ginyoku no Ikarosu” by Jun Ikeido. The first season of “Naoki Hanzawa” aired on TBS back in 2013 and was a huge hit with the final episode receiving 42.2% viewership rating. Katsuo Fukuzawa will return to direct the sequel of “Naoki Hanzawa” and Kentaro Ushio (“Downtown Rocket“) will write the screenplay adaptation.
“Naoki Hanzawa” will first air April, 2020 in Japan.
Kang Ha-Neul is cast for the lead male role in KBS2 drama series “When Camellia Blooms” (literal title) co-starring Kong Hyo-Jin. Kang Ha-Neul was officially discharged from the South Korean military today, May 23, 2019. “When Cameillia Blooms” will be his first acting role since becoming a civilian again. For the drama series, Kang Ha-Neul will play a man named Yong-Sik. Already cast in the drama series in a supporting role is veteran actress Ko Du-Shim. Actor Kim Ji-Suk and actress Son Dam-Bi have also received offers to play major supporting character roles for the drama series and they are considering their offers.

First script reading for JTBC drama series “Moment of Eighteen” (literal title), starring Ong Seong-Wu & Kim Hyang-Gi, took place April, 2019 at JTBC Building in Sangam, Seoul, South Korea. Main cast members including Ong Seong-Wu, Kim Hyang-Gi, Shin Seung-Ho, Kang Ki-Young, Shim Yi-Young and Kim Sun-Young attended. At the first script reading, Ong Seong-Wu (whose only prior acting experience was short film “Seong-Wu Is Fine”) stated “Acting is not just a simple change. I dreamed of this for such a long time, so I will work on the drama with a sincere heart.” One Seong-Wu was a member of boy band “Wanna One.” Meanwhile, Kim Hyang-Gi stated at the script reading “It has been a long time since I acted in a drama series. I will work hard for this drama.” The drama series will be directed by Sim Na-Yeon (“Summer Days; Yeo-Reum“) and scripted by Yoon Kyung-Ah (“Master of Study“).

Teaser poster added for upcoming romance film “Matinee” starring Masaharu Fukuyama and Yuriko Ishida. Movie is based on novel “Machine no Owari ni” by Keiichiro Hirano and directed by Hiroshi Nishitani (“Suspect X“). In addition, newly announced supporting cast members for the film are Yusuke Iseya, Yuki Sakurai, Ikko Furuya, Haruka Kinami, Yuka Itaya and Jun Fubuki. French classical guitarist Thibaut Garcia will also appear in the film. For Yusuke Iseya, he will play Richard Shindo. He is an economist in New York and the fiance of Yoko Komine (Yuriko Ishida). Yuki Sakurai will play Sanae Mitani. She is the manager of classical guitarist Satoshi Makino’s (Masaharu Fukuyama).
“Matinee” is now scheduled for release November 1, 2019 in Japan.
