Park Bo-Young cast in Disney+ drama “Gold Land”

Park Bo-Young is cast for the lead role in Disney+ drama series “Gold Land.” Cast alongside Park Bo-Young are Lee Hyun-Wook, Kim Sung-Cheol, Kim Hee-Won, Moon Jeong-Hee, and Lee Kwang-Soo. Drama series is scripted by Hwang Jo-Yoon and directed by Kim Sung-Hoon. Screenwriter Hwang Jo-Yoon and Director Kim Sung-Hoon previously worked together in 2017 movie “Confidential Assignment.” Story for “Gold Land” will have Park Bo-Young play airport security screener Kim Hee-Ju. Due to her co-pilot boyfriend Lee Do-Kyeong (Lee Hyun-Wook), she accidentally receives gold that belongs to a smuggling organization.

“Gold Land” will be released sometime next year on Disney+.

Marika Matsumoto & Ken Yasuda cast in TV Asahi drama “Ubai Ai, Manatsu”

Marika Matsumoto & Ken Yasuda are cast in TV Asahi drama series “Ubai Ai, Manatsu.” The drama series is scripted by Osamu Suzuki. Osamu Suzuki previously wrote the screenplays for 2017 TV Asahi drama series “Ubai Ai, Fuyu” (“Winter, Grasping Love“) and 2021 TV Asahi drama series “Ubai Ai, Koko Kyoshi.” For “Ubai Ai, Manatsu,” Marika Matsumoto will play Manatsu Umino. She starts a new life after breaking up with her boyfriend and starting a new job at a watch company. She meets the CEO (played by Ken Yasuda) of the watch company on her first day of her work and she is surprised that he resembles her ex-boyfriend so much.

“Ubai Ai, Manatsu” will first air July, 2025 in Japan (takes over TV Asahi’s Friday 11:15 PM time slot after “The Monster Within“).

Kazuya Ohashi and Nagisa Shibuya cast in TV Asahi drama “Revenge Spy”

Kazuya Ohashi and Nagisa Shibuya are cast in TV Asahi drama series “Revenge Spy.” Drama series features an original screenplay by Yuko Matsuda (“Hanasaki Mai Speaks Out“) that tells a spy + romantic-comedy story. Kazuya Ohashi will play Yuga Sugawara. He is naturally a cheerful and affable person and he uses that at his workplace to make connections. He is also secretly working as a spy to gain information on his brother’s death that he believes is related to the company where he works. He then meets the daughter of the company president and falls in love with her. The daughter, Hana Imuta, is played by Nagisa Shibuya.

“Revenge Spy” will first air July 5, 2025 (takes over TV Asahi’s Saturday 11 PM time slot after “Musashino Rondo“).

Nao Omori, Masaki Aiba, & Nao Matsushita are cast in TV Asahi drama series “Daitsuiseki.” The drama series is scripted by Yasushi Fukuda (“Galileo“) and will be directed by Naomi TamuraKeisuke Toyoshima, & Takashi Komatsu. Story for “Daitsuiseki” will be set at the newly created SSBC violent crimes unit. The department provides support for the First Criminal Investigation Division by analyzing CCTV footage, examining cellphones and computers, and criminal profiling.

Takumi Saito & Yuno Nagao cast in TV Asahi drama “The Kidnapping Day”

Takumi Saito and Yuno Nagao are cast in TV Asahi drama series “The Kidnapping Day” (literal title). Drama series is based on 2019 South Korean novel “Yoogweui Nal” by Jung Hae-Yeon, which was previously adapted into 2023 ENA drama series “The Kidnapping Day.” In the drama series, Takumi Saito will play Masamune Shinjo. He’s not the smartest person in the world, but he has big heart. He attempts to kidnap Rin Nanase (Yuno Nagao), the daughter of a wealthy hospital director, to pay for his own daughter’s heart surgery. Meanwhile, Rin Nanase is a genius, but she loses her memory on the day of the kidnapping attempt.

“The Kidnapping Day” will first air July 8, 2025 in Japan (takes over TV Asahi’s Tuesday 9PM time slot after “Ameku Takao’s Detective Karte“).
