Shohei Miura, Yuma Yamoto, Tsubasa Sakiyama & Kenta Suga cast in WOWOW drama series “Wake Atte Kasei ni Sumimashita: Erabareshi 4nin”

Shohei Miura, Yuma Yamoto, Tsubasa Sakiyama & Kenta Suga are cast in WOWOW drama series “Wake Atte Kasei ni Sumimashita: Erabareshi 4nin.” The drama series is scripted by Osamu Suzuki (“Love x Doc“) and a stage play version will also take place in May, 2020. Shohei Miura, Yuma Yamoto, Tsubasa Sakiyama & Kenta Suga will all also star in the stage play version as well. The drama series version will unfold in an omnibus format with new actors appearing in each of the 6 episodes. The drama series revolves around a space project in the year 2030, where scientists will send 4 people to colonize Mars.

“Wake Atte Kasei ni Sumimashita: Erabareshi 4nin” first airs  January, 2020 in Japan.

Yuji Oda, Nanako Matsushima, Shunsuke Kazama, & Yukiyoshi Ozawa cast in WOWOW live-action drama series “Nozaki Shuhei President of Bank”

Yuji Oda, Nanako Matsushima, Shunsuke Kazama, and Yukiyoshi Ozawa  are cast in WOWOW drama series “Nozaki Shuhei President of Bank” (literal title). The drama series is based on manga series “Todori Nozaki Shuhei” by Ryouka Shuu and is a sequel to 2018 WOWOW drama series “Nozaki Shuhei Auditor of Bank.” Yuji Oda and Nanako Matsushima will reprise their respective roles of Shuhei Nozaki & Sachiko Tachikawa in the sequel drama series, while Shunsuke Kazama and Yukiyoshi Ozawa will play new characters. Also cast in the drama series are Goro Kishitani, Miori Takimoto, Taro Suruga, Rika Izumi, Katsuya Kobayashi, Shota Watanabe (‘Snow Man’), Masaki Miura, Mantaro Koichi, Toru Nomaguchi, Naomi Nishida, Kazuyuki Aijima, Ichirota Miyakawa, Takashi Ukaji and Ikko Furuya.

“Nozaki Shuhei President of Bank” first airs January 19, 2019 in Japan (takes over WOWOW’s Sunday Drama-W slot after “Butterfly’s Mechanics: Murder Analysis Squad.”).

Hana Sugisaki cast in NHK drama series “Ochoyan”

Hana Sugisaki is cast in NHK drama series “Ochoyan.” The drama series is NHK’s 103rd asadora or morning drama. The screenplay will be scripted by Hiroyuki Yatsu (“Naoki Hanzawa“) and directed by Yoshiro Nagikawa (“Hitomi“) & Makoto Bonkobara (“Carnation“). For “Ochoyan,” Hana Sugisaki will play actress Chieko Naniwa. The drama series is based on the life of actress Chieko Naniwa (November 19, 1907 – December 22, 1973). Filming for the drama series will begin April, 2020.

“Ochoyan” will first air (tentatively) September 27, 2020 in Japan (follows NHK’s asadora “Eru“).

Ryoma Takeuchi cast in TBS live-action drama series “Ship of Theseus”

Ryoma Takeuchi is cast in TBS live-action drama series “Ship of Theseus” (literal title). The drama series is based on manga series “Teseusu no Fune” by Toshiya Higashimoto. For the drama series, Ryoma Takeuchi will play main character Shin Tamura. He somehow travels back in time, right before his father was accused of murder, and decides to change the past.

“Ship of Theseus” will first air January, 2020 (takes over TBS’ Sunday 9PM time slot after “La Grande Maison Tokyo.”).

Ikki Sawamura, Yu Yokoyama, & Tsubasa Honda cast in Fuji TV drama series “Absolute Zero 4”

Ikki Sawamura, Yu Yokoyama (‘Kanjani Eight’), and Tsubasa Honda are cast in Fuji TV drama series “Absolute Zero 4.” The drama series is the fourth season of Fuji TV drama series “Absolute Zero.” This is also the first season that Aya Ueto will not appear in the drama series. Season 4 starts off with several bombs found around Tokyo and a police investigation quickly commences.

“Absolute Zero 4” first airs January 6, 2020 (takes over Fuji TV’s Monday 9PM time slot after “Sherlock: Untold Stories“).

Kavka Shishido cast in NHK drama series “Akira Hamura”

Kavka Shishido is cast in NHK drama series “Akira Hamura: The World’s Most Unfortunate Private Investigator” (literal title). The drama series is based on mystery novels in the “Hamura Akira Series” by Nanami Wakatake and will be directed by Mamoru Ohashi (“Mom, May I Quit Being Your Daughter?“). This is also the first starring role for Kavka Shishido in a drama series or movie. Kavka Shishido will play title character Akira Hamura in the NHK drama series. Her character loves mystery novels, but experiences bad luck while working as a private investigator.

“Akira Hamura: The World’s Most Unfortunate Private Investigator” first airs January 24, 2020 in Japan.

Yuto Nakajima & Shotaro Mamiya cast in TV Tokyo live-action drama series “Where Do I Come From?”

Yuto Nakajima (‘Hey! Say! JUMP’) & Shotaro Mamiya are cast in TV Tokyo live-action drama series “Where Do I Come From?” The drama series is based on manga series “Boku wa Doko kara” by Masa Ichikawa. Yusuke Taki (“My Husband’s Wives“) will direct the drama series and the screenplay adaption will be written by Izumi Takahashi (“Swimming in the Dar“). In the drama series, Yuto Nakajima will play main character Kaoru Takeuchi. He has a special ability related to writing other people’s words and experiencing their thoughts. Shotaro Mamiya will play yakuza Tomomi Fujiwara. He went to the same school as Kaoru Takeuchi.

“Where Do I Come From?” first airs January, 2020 in Japan.

Miho Nakayama, Tae Kimura & Yuko Oshima cast in WOWOW drama series “Things You Can Know By Looking At Them”

Miho Nakayama, Tae Kimura and Yuko Oshima are cast in WOWOW drama series “Things You Can Know By Looking At Them” (“Karera wo Mirebawakaru Koto”). The original screenplay is written by Mahiro Sawaki and the drama series is directed by Yoshihiro Fukagawa (“Restaurant From The Sky“). For “Things You Can Know By Looking At Them,” Miho Nakayama, Tae Kimura and Yuko Oshima will play women who live in the same expensive apartment complex. They know of each other either as friends or through their other half’s past relationship.

Atsuko Maeda cast in NHK live-action drama series “Legendary Mother”

Atsuko Maeda is cast in NHK live-action drama series “Legendary Mother” (literal title). The drama series is based on manga “Densetsu no Okasan” by Kanemoto. For the drama series, Atsuko Maeda will play Mei. She appears like an normal mother, but she was once a witch who was part of a group that defeated Satan. Satan is then unleashed again.

“Legendary Mother” will consist of 8 episodes and will from February 1 to March 21, 2020 in Japan.

Kei Tanaka & Tomoya Nakamura cast in TV Asahi drama special “Discord”

Kei Tanaka and Tomoya Nakamura are cast in TV Asahi drama special “Discord” (literal title). The drama series is based on 2016 novel  “Fukyowaon: Kyoto, Keiji to Kenji no Jiken Techo” by Takeaki Daimon (“Hitoya no Toge“) and directed by Kentaro Otani (“You Are Brilliant Like A Spica“). The drama series will have Kei Tanaka playing detective Yusuke Kawakami and Tomoya Nakamura playing prosecutor Masato Karasawa. They are brothers, but they were separated at an early age.

“Discord” will air sometime next year in Japan.
