Lee Sung-Kyung offered lead role in MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo”

Lee Sung-Kyung has been offered the lead female role in upcoming MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo.” Currently, she is “positively considering” the offer. The drama series is motivated by the true story of weightlifter Jang Mi-Ran. If Lee Sung-Kyung accepts her offer, she will play title character Kim Bok-Joo. Her character is a 20-year-old weightlifter and falls in love for the first time.

“Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” will first air November, 2016 in South Korea (taking over MBC’s Wednesday & Thursdays 10PM time slot after the conclusion of “Shopping King Louie“).

Shiori Kutsuna cast in based on a true story film “Kiseki: Sobito of That Day”

Shiori Kutsuna is cast in upcoming based on a true story film “Kiseki: Ano Hi no Sobito” starring Tori Matsuzaka and Masaki Suda. A teaser trailer for the film has also been added on AsianWiki.

In the film, Shiori Kutsuna will play lead female character Rika. Her character is the girlfriend of Hide (Masaki Suda). The film is based on the true story of Japanese pop/rock/rap group “GreeeeN.” The band released the smash hit single “Kiseki” in 2008.

Also cast in supporting roles are Kaoru Kobayashi, Yumi Asou, Yuna Taira, Saori Koide, Eita Okuno & Toru Nomaguchi.

“Kiseki: Sobito of That Day” will be released sometime spring, 2017 in Japan.

Cha In-Pyo & Ra Mi-Ran cast in KBS2 drama series “Laurel Tree Tailors”

Cha In-Pyo & Ra Mi-Ran are cast in KBS2 drama series “Laurel Tree Tailors” starring Lee Dong-Gun & Jo Yoon-Hee.

Cha In-Pyo and Ra Mi-Ran will play married couple Bae Sam-Do and Bok Sun-Nyeo. Bae Sam-Do is a former employee of Laurel Tree Tailor Shop, but now runs a restaurant. Bae Sam-Do appears brave, but he doesn’t ever want to cross his wife. Meanwhile, Bok Sun-Nyeo appears very tough, but she is actually very sweet.

Drama series “Five Enough” has been extended by 4 episodes and afterwards “Laurel Tree Tailors” will premiere on August 27, 2016 in South Korea.

Honami Suzuki cast in Fuji TV drama series “Nonmama Hakusho”

Honami Suzuki is cast for the lead role in upcoming Fuji TV drama series “Nonmama Hakusho.” Also cast in supporting roles are Momoko Kikuchi, Makiko Watanabe, Nao Minamisawa & Takahiro Hamada. In the drama series, Honami Suzuki will play 49-year-old Reiko Doi. She is a divorcee and without children. While pursuing her career in her 20’s and 30’s, she was unable to have children due to the times. She now strives to continue her job while searching for love.

“Nonmama Hakusho” will first air August 13, 2016 in Japan.

First couple still images of Lee Jong-Suk and Han Hyo-Joo in MBC drama series “W”

Here’s the first couple still images of Lee Jong-Suk and Han Hyo-Joo in upcoming MBC drama series “W.” Filming for this scene took place May 21, 2016 at a clothing store in Seoul. Premise for the drama series has Han Hyo-Joo playing Oh Yeon-Joo. Her character is a surgeon. Lee Jong-Suk plays Kang Chul. His character actually exists in the webtoon “W.” A romance takes place between these two characters.

“W” first airs July 20, 2016 in South Korea.

Main poster and teaser trailer for movie “Will You Marry My Wife?”

Here’s the main poster for upcoming tearjerker film “Will You Marry My Wife?” starring Yuji Oda,Yo Yoshida & Taizo Harada. In addition, the first teaser trailer for the film can be viewed at AsianWiki. Movie is based on 2012 novel “Boku no Tsuma to Kekkon Shite Kudasai” by Takuji Higuchi, which was previously adapted into 2015 NHK drama series “Please Marry My Wife.” Premise for the film follows a husband (Yuji Oda) who is diagnosed with a terminal disease and he later sets out to find a new husband for his wife before he dies.

“Will You Marry My Wife?” will be released November 5, 2016 in Japan.

Seo In-Guk and Nam Ji-Hyun offered lead roles in MBC drama series “Shopping King Louie”

Seo In-Guk and Nam Ji-Hyun offered lead roles in MBC drama series “Shopping King Louie.” Both performers are currently “positively considering” the offers. Yoon Sang-Hyun has also been offered a major supporting character role and he is also considering his offer positively.  All three are in final mediation to take the roles.

If Seo In-Guk accepts his offer, he will play Kang Ji-Sung also known as Louie. Louie comes from a wealthy family, but he has lost his memory. If Nam Ji-Hyun accepts her offer, she will play Ko Bok-Sil. Her character comes from a rural area and has a warm heart.

“Shopping King Louie” will first air this September in South Korea (takes over MBC’s Wednesday and Thursday 10PM time slot after “W“).

Mackenyu cast in live-action film “Peach Girl”

Mackenyu is cast in upcoming live-action film “Peach Girl” co-starring Mizuki Yamamoto, Kei Inoo & Mei Nagano. Movie is based on manga series “Peach Girl” by Miwa Ueda & directed by Koji Shintoku (“Mars“).

In movie “Peach Girl,” Mackenyu will play Toji. Momo (Mizuki Yamamoto) has secretly held feelings for Toji since their middle school days. Toji, Momo and Kairi (Kei Inoo) become involved in a love triangle.

“Peach Girl” will be released sometime next year in Japan.
