Lead actresses announced for TV Asahi drama “SKY Castle.”

Nao Matsushita, Fumino Kimura, Manami Higa, Maryjun Takahashi, and Koyuki are cast in TV Asahi drama series “SKY Castle.” The drama series is a remake of 2018 JTBC drma series “SKY Castle.” The screenplay adaptation for the remake is written by Hiroshi Hashimoto (“A Family Goes Job Hunting“) and will be directed by Naomi TamuraYuji Nakamae, and Kazunari Hoshino. Nao Matsushita, Fumino Kimura, Manami Higa, Maryjun Takahashi will play mothers who live with within the exclusive SKY CASTLE neighborhood and compete to get their children into the top school. Koyuki will play Ayaka Kujo. She is a private instructor who charges an outrageous rate, but has a 100% success rate.

“SKY Castle” first airs July, 2024 in Japan (takes over TV Asahi’s Thursday 9PM time slot after “SKY Castle“)

WOWOW to air drama series sequel “Golden Kamuy”

WOWOW to air drama series “Golden Kamuy” starring Kento Yamazaki, Anna Yamada, & Gordon Maeda. The drama series is a sequel to the just released 2024 movie “Golden Kamuy” and based on manga series “Golden Kamuy” by Satoru Noda. The sequel drama series will pick up immediately after where there 2024 movie version ended. Namely, the hunt to find the escaped prisoners who have tattoos that reveal the location of hidden gold. Along with the returning cast members from the movie version, are new cast members who will play new characters: Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Maryjun Takahashi, Yuki Sakurai, and Akihisa Shiono. Director Sigeaki Kubo and screenwriter Tsutomu Kuroiwa, who worked on the movie version will also work together for the drama series sequel.

“Golden Kamuy” will air sometime this autumn in Japan.

Teaser trailer #3 & teaser poster added for WOWOW drama series “Dying Eye” starring Haruma Miura and Maryjun Takahashi. The drama series is based on 2007 novel “Dying Eye” by popular mystery writer Keigo Higashino. In addition, just announced supporting performers in the drama series are Marika Matsumoto, Hayato Kakizawa, Hayato Onozuka, Yasushi Fuchikami, Yuichi Kimura, Keiko Horiuchi and Katsuhisa Namase.

“Dying Eye” first airs March 16, 2019 in Japan.

Teaser trailer for NTV-YTV drama series “Lovely Unlovely”

Teaser trailer added for NTV-YTV drama series “Lovely Unlovely” (working English title) starring Natsuna Watanabe, Maryjun Takahashi, Kinako Kobayashi and Kei Yamazaki from comedy duo “Aiseki Start.” Kei Yamazaki also wrote the original essay “Choudo Ii Busu no Susume” which the drama series is based on. The drama series follows three women who failures in love, but then get schooled by a Love God.

“Lovely Unlovely” first airs January 10, 2019 in Japan.

Maryjun Takahashi cast in WOWOW drama series “Dying Eye”

Maryjun Takahashi is cast in WOWOW drama series “Dying Eye” co-starring Haruma Miura. The drama series is based on 2007 novel “Dying Eye” by popular mystery writer Keigo Higashino. Masahiro Kunimoto directs the drama series. For “Dying Eye,” Maryjun Takahashi will play dual characters of Minae Kishinaka and mysterious woman Ruriko. The character of Minae Kishinaka was killed in a car accident which involved bartender Shinsuke Amemura (Haruma Miura).

“Dying Eye” will first air March 16, 2019 in Japan.

Teaser trailer and teaser poster for movie “Smartphone o Otoshita dake nanoni” starring Keiko Kitagawa. In addition, supporting cast has been announced for the film which will include Yudai ChibaRyo NaritaKei TanakaTaizo Harada, Bakarhythm, Jun Kaname, Maryjun Takahashi, Kenta Sakai and Miwako Kakei. The film is based on novel “Sumaho o Otoshita dake ” by Akira Shiga and directed by Hideo Nakata. For the newly announced supporting characters, Yuda Chiba will play Detective Manabu Kagaya. He investigates a serial murder case. Ryo Narita will play Yoshiharu Urano. He is a system engineer at a security company. Kei Tanaka will play the boyfriend of main character Asami Inaba (Keiko Kitagawa). Lastly. Taizo Harada will play Detective Toru Busujima. He works with Detective Manabu Kagaya on the serial murder case.

“Smartphone o Otoshita dake nanoni” will be released November 2, 2018 in Japan.

Trailer for movie “The Blue Hearts”

Trailer added for upcoming omnibus film “The Blue Hearts.” The movie features 6 segments directed by Sang-il Lee, Ken Iizuka & Ten Shimoyama among others. What binds the 6 segments together is the music of Japanese rock band “The Blue Hearts” (their song “Linda Linda Linda” featured prominently in Nobuhiro Yamashita‘s 2005 film “Linda Linda Linda“). The directors picked their favorite songs by the band and made a short film based around the song.

“The Blue Hearts” opens April 8, 2017 in Japan.

Teaser trailer and new stills for movie “L”

First teaser trailer added for upcoming movie “L” starring Alice Hirose & Yuki Furukawa. Movie is based on the album “L” by musical group “Acid Black Cherry.”

The still images above are of Yuki Furukawa, Yuta Hiraoka & Mihiro. In the film, Yuki Furukawa  plays Ovesu. He has loved the woman L (Alice Hirose) for his entire life. Yuta Hiraoka plays a member of a theatrical company in the film and Mihiro plays a former bank clerk.

Release date for “L” is now set for November 25, 2016 in Japan.

Supporting cast announced for movie “L”

Supporting cast has been announced for upcoming movie “L” starring Alice Hirose. Now cast in the movie are Yuki Furukawa, Maryjun Takahashi, Yuta Hiraoka, Yasuyuki Maekawa, Yuta Takahata, Seika Furuhata, Mihiro, Mikako, Yoji Tanaka & Hitomi Takahashi.

Movie “L” is based on rock album “L” by Acid Black Cherry (solo project by Japanese musician Yasu). Story for the film will follow a woman name L, played by Alice Hirose, as she goes through life looking for love.

In the upcoming movie Yuki Furukawa will play Ovesu. His character is in love with L (Alise Hirose). Maryjun Takahashi will play Anna. She works with L at a cabaret. Yuta Hiraoka will play a member of a theatrical company. Yasuyuki Maekawa will play the cabaret owner and Yuta Takahata will play a bakery owner.

“L” will be released sometime this autumn in Japan.

Haruka Shimazaki cast in movie “Haunted Campus”

AKB48 member Haruka Shimazaki is cast in upcoming horror-mystery film “Haunted Campus” also starring Yuma Nakayama & Kentaro Yasui. Movie is based on the novel “Haunted Campus” by Riu Kushiki.

In movie “Haunted Campus,” Haruka Shimazaki will play lead female role Koyomi Nada. Main male character Shinji Yagami (Yuma Nakayama) has feelings for her and they join an occult research group at their university. Shinji Yagam is easily frightened because he can see ghosts. The occult research group attempts to solve a haunted campus mystery.

“Haunted Campus” will be released July 2, 2016 in Japan.
