Lily Franky cast in live-action TV Tokyo drama series “Gin to Kin”

Lily Franky is cast in upcoming live-action TV Tokyo drama series “Gin to Kin” starring Sosuke Ikematsu. Also cast in supporting roles are Makita Sports, Asami Usuda & Jun Murakami. In the drama series, Lily Franky will play Ginji Hira aka Gin-san (Mr. Silver). He is a tycoon trouble-solving broker and someone Tetsuo Morita (Sosuke Ikematsu) aspires to become. Drama series is based on manga series “Gin to Kin” by Nobuyuki Fukumoto

“Gin to Kin” first airs January 7, 2017 in Japan.

Lee Yoo-Young offered lead female role in OCN drama series “Tunnel”

Lee Yoo-Young has been offered the lead female role in upcoming OCN drama series “Tunnel.” Actor Choi Jin-Hyuk has already received an offered to play the lead male role. Both performers are currently “positively considering” their offers. The drama series has no relations to the 2016 South Korean film “Tunnel.”

If Lee Yoo-Young accepts her offer, she will play Shin Jae-Yi. Her character was born and raised in England. She received a doctorate degree for a paper written on female serial killers. She now works in South Korea as a lecturer. Meanwhile, if Choi Jin-Hyuk accepts he will play Detective Park Gwang-Ho. His character travels in time from 1986 to the present day to save his daughter.

“Tunnel” will first air March, 2017 in South Korea.

Character visuals for live-action film “Gintama”

Here’s 3 character visuals of Shun Oguri, Masaki Suda and Kanna Hashimoto from upcoming live-action film “Gintama.” The character visuals are of Gintoki Sakata (Shun Oguri), Shinpachi Shimura (Masaki Suda) and Kagura (Kanna Hashimoto). Movie is based on popular manga series “Gintama” by Hideaki Sorachi and directed by Yuichi Fukuda. More character visuals are expected to be released in the coming months. The character visuals also reveal that the film will be released sometime during summer, 2017 in Japan.

Nam Sang-Mi offered lead female role in KBS2 drama series “Chief Kim”

Nam Sang-Mi has been offered for the lead female role in upcoming KBS2 drama series “Chief Kim.” Actor Namgung Min previously received an offer to play the lead male character and Lee Joon-Ho (‘2PM’) received an offer to play a major supporting character. Currently, all three are “positively considering” their offers.

If Nam Sang-Mi accepts her offer, she will play Yoon Ha-Kyung. Her character works with Chief Kim at the same company.

“Chief Kim” will first air January, 2017 in South Korea (takes over KBS2’s Wednesday & Thursday 10PM time slot after “Oh My Geum-Bi.”

Masami Nagasawa, Ryuhei Matsuda & Hiroki Hasegawa cast in movie “Strolling Invader”

Masami Nagasawa, Ryuhei Matsuda & Hiroki Hasegawa are cast in movie “Strolling Invader” directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa. The movie is based on the stage play “Sanpo Suru Shinryakusha” written and directed by Tomohiro Maekawa. Premise for the film deals with a husband played by Ryuhei Matsuda whose body is taken over by an alien conducting research before an invasion.

“Strolling Invader” will be released September 16, 2017 in Japan.

First still images from drama series “Woman of Dignity”

Here’s the first still images from upcoming drama series “Woman of Dignity” (literal title) starring Kim Hee-Seon and Kim Sun-A. In the drama series, Kim Hee-Seon plays Woo A-Jin. Her character is a glamorous housewife and lives a luxurious life thanks to her wealthy father-in-law. Meanwhile, Kim Sun-A plays Park Bok-Ja. She works as a caregiver for the sick, but she holds ambitions to live within high society. Her character is a bit of a mysterious figure.

Exact network that will air “Woman of Dignity” has yet to be announced.

Supporting cast announced for live-action film “Sensei!”

Supporting cast members have been announced for upcoming live-action film “Sensei!” starring Toma Ikuta and Suzu Hirose. Cast in supporting roles are Ryo Ryusei, Aoi Morikawa, Kentaro, Tomoya Nakamura & Manami Higa. Movie “Sensei!” is based on manga series of same name by Kazune Kawahara and directed by Takahiro Miki.

For live-action film “Sensei!,” Ryo Ryusei will play Kosuke Kawai. He is a friend of Hibiki (Suzu Hirose) and belongs to the same high school Japanese archery club.  Aoi Morikawa will play Megumi Chigusa. She is also friends with Hibiki and member of the same archery club. Kentaro will play Yusuke Fujioka. He is the top player for another high school archery club. Tomoya Nakamura will play Masato Sekiya.  He is a fellow teacher as Kosaku (Toma Ikuta). Manami Higa will play Sachiko Nakajima. She is also a teacher with Kosaku and Masato Sekiya.

“Sensei!” will be released sometime during autumn, 2017 in Japan.

Kenichi Endo, Ren Osugi, Tomorowo Taguchi, Susumu Terajima, Yutaka Matsushige & Ken Mitsuishi are all cast in new TV Tokyo drama series “Byplayers.” The six well known characters actors will play themselves in the drama series. Premise for the drama series has the 6 actors cast in a new big budget drama series headlined by a famous lead actor and directed by a world renown director. The director then asks the six supporting actors to live together for 3 months to see how they interact.

“Byplayers” first airs January 13, 2017 in Japan.
