Poster and trailer for live-action film “Love and Lies”

Poster and trailer added for upcoming live-action film “Love and Lies” starring Aoi Morikawa, Takumi Kitamura & Kanta Sato. Movie is based on manga “Koi to Uso” by Musawo and directed by Takeshi Furusawa. Story for the film is set in the near future where the Japanese government implements a program to increase the country’s birth rate by assigning marriage partners to teens who turn 16. A high school student played by Aoi Morikawa is selected to marry high school student played by Kanta Sato, but she has feelings for her childhood friend played by Takumi Kitamura.

The main trailer features theme song “Hello” by singer-songwriter Shogo Sakamoto. The song is a cover tune originally released by Masaharu Fukuyama in 1995.

Rio Uchida cast in live-action Fuji TV drama “Meals Shogi Player Loved”

Rio Uchida is cast in upcoming live-action Fuji TV drama “Meals Shogi Player Loved.” The drama series is based on manga “Shogi Meshi” by Nagisa Matsumoto, with screenplay adaptation handled by Yoriko Kodama. In the drama series, Rio Uchida will play main character Nayuta Toge. She is professional shogi player and her matches usually last for about 10 hours. Nayuta Toge also carefully thinks about what her meals will be during the breaks in her matches.

“Meals Shogi Player Loved” streams on FOD (Fuji TV On Demand) beginning July 31, 2017 and airs on Fuji TV beginning August 2, 2017 in Japan.

Yuriko Yoshitaka cast in movie “Criminal for the Prosecution”

Yuriko Yoshitaka is cast in movie “Criminal for the Prosecution” starring Takuya Kimura and Kazunari Ninomiya. For the film, Yuriko Yoshitaka will play lead female character Saho Tachibana. Her character works for the prosecution administrative office. Movie is based on 2013 novel “Kensatsugawa no Zainin” by Shusuke Shizukui and directed by Masato Harada.

In addition, “Criminal for the Prosecution” has cast these actors in supporting roles: Yutaka Matsushige, Takehiro Hira, Norito Yashima, Koji Ookura, Tsutomu Yamazaki, Kenichi Yajima, Takuma Otoo, Midoriko Kimura,
Sei Ashina, and Hirona Yamazaki.

Filming for “Criminal for the Prosecution” began July 12, 2017 and will finish during the early part of September, 2017.

Park Bo-Gum declines offer to play lead role in tvN drama series “Hwayuki”

Park Bo-Gum has declined an offer to play a lead role in new tvN drama series “Hwayuki.” Cha Seung-Won has previously received an offer to play a co-lead role and he is still considering his offer. The drama series is setup as a modern day reinterpretation of classic Chinese novel “Journey to the West” and the drama series will be scripted by sisters Hong Jung-Eun and Hong Mi-Ran. While the search for the lead actor will continue, “Hwayuki” is still targeted to air sometime this December in South Korea.

Supporting cast announced for Fuji TV drama series “Minshu no Teki”

Additional supporting cast members has been announced for upcoming Fuji TV drama series “Minshu no Teki” starring Ryoko Shinohara. Issei Takahashi and Yuriko Ishida have been previously announced for major supporting character roles. The new supporting cast members are Arata Furuta, Atsuko Maeda, Yudai Chiba, Kimiko Yo, Kei Tanaka, Wakadanna, Yoshihiko Hosoda and Kenya Osumi.

Story for the drama series will follow an unemployed mother played by Ryoko Shinohara who decides to run for a city council seat. “Minshu no Teki” will first air October, 2017 in Japan.

Teaser trailer for JTBC drama series “Age of Youth Season 2”

Teaser trailer for JTBC drama series “Age of Youth Season 2” starring Han Ye-Ri, Han Seung-Yeon, Park Eun-Bin, Ji-Woo and Choi A-Ra. The drama series is a sequel to 2016 JTBC drama series “Age of Youth” with returning cast members (Han Ye-Ri, Han Seung-Yeon, Park Eun-Bin), a new cast member playing a returning character (Ji-Woo replaces Park Hye-Soo) and a new main cast member/character (Choi A-Ra). First season main cast member Ryu Hwa-Young will also make special appearances throughout the drama series.

“Age of Youth Season 2” is now set to first air August 25, 2017 in South Korea.

Lee Sang-Woo cast in MBC drama series “20th Century Boy and Girl”

Lee Sang-Woo is cast in upcoming MBC drama series “20th Century Boy and Girl” starring Han Ye-Seul and Kim Ji-Suk. The drama series previously went under the working title of “No Sex and the City.” Lee Sang-Woo will play the second lead male in the drama series. His character’s name is Anthony and he is a former popular idol turned actor. He develops feelings for Sa Jin-Jin (Han Ye-Seul). She has been his fan for a long time. Sa Jin-Jin is also a former idol turned actress. A love triangle develops with Gong Ji-Won (Kim Ji-Suk).

“20th Century Boy and Girl” airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 10pm beginning this September in South Korea.

First script reading for tvN drama series “Argon”

First script reading for upcoming tvN drama series “Argon” took place July 12, 2017 at CJ E&M Center in Sangam-dong, Seoul, South Korea. The first script reading featured main cast members Kim Ju-Hyeok, Chun Woo-Hee, Park Won-Sang, Lee Seung-Joon, Shin Hyun-Bin and Minha (‘Nine Muses’). Before the script reading began, director Lee Yoon-Jung (“Coffee Prince“/”Cheese in the Trap“) said “We have good actors and actresses. I feel blessed with this drama series and I am honored to work with such great people. I will try my best to make the series fun and meaningful to the audience.”

“Argon” first airs September 4, 2017 in South Korea.
