Winners and nominees for the 2019 BaekSang Arts Awards

See list of winners and nominees at the just concluded 2019 BaekSang Arts Awards. The Korean award show hands out awards for both movies and TV drama series. Big winners at this year’s show includes the Daesang (Grand Prize) in movies to Jung Woo-Sung for “Innocent Witness” and in drama series to Kim Hye-Ja for “The Light in Your Eyes.” “The Spy Gone North” won the award for best film and “My Mister” won the award for best drama series. JTBC drama series “SKY Castle” also received 4 total awards.

Teaser posters for JTBC drama series “The Wind Blows”

Here’s two teaser posters for upcoming JTBC drama series “The Wind Blows” starring Kam Woo-Sung and Kim Ha-Neul. The teaser poster features Kam Woo-Sung as Do-Hoon and Kim Ha-Neul as Soo-Jin enjoying a moment together. They play a married couple. Caption on the posters states in Korean “I thought this happiness would stay forever.”

Hyeri & Kim Sang-Kyung cast in tvN drama series “Miss Lee”

Hyeri (‘Girl’s Day’) and Kim Sang-Kyung are cast in tvN drama series “Miss Lee.” The business themed drama series will be directed by Han Dong-Hwa (“Bad Guys: Vile City“). In “Miss Lee,” Hyeri will play Lee Sun-Sim. She works as a low level clerk at a company, but the company is teetering on bankruptcy and she somehow becomes the CEO of the company. Kim Sang-Kyung will play Yoo Jin-Wook. He is an employee at the company.

“Miss Lee” will first air sometime during the second half of this year in South Korea.

Yoon Kye-Sang & Ha Ji-Won cast in JTBC drama series “Chocolate”

Yoon Kye-Sang and Ha Ji-Won are cast in JTBC drama series “Chocolate.” The romance themed drama series is scripted by Lee Kyoung-Hee and directed by Lee Hyeong-Min. Lee Kyoung-Hee and Lee Hyeong-Min previously worked together in well-regarded 2004 KBS2 drama series “Sorry, I Love You” starring So Ji-Sub and Lim Soo-Jung. In the drama series Yoon Kye-Sang plays neurosurgeon Lee Kang and Ha Ji-Won plays chef Moon Cha-Young. They met briefly as children and now meet again as adults.

“Chocolate” first airs sometime during the second half of this year in South Korea (takes over JTBC’s Friday and Saturday 11PM time slot after “My Country.”).

Teaser trailer for MBC drama series “Partners for Justice Season 2”

First teaser trailer added for upcoming MBC drama series “Partners for Justice Season 2” starring Jung Jae-Young and Jung Yoo-Mi. At the 16 second mark of the teaser trailer, Jung Jae-Young’s voice appears and he says in Korean “I am starting an autopsy.” Meanwhile, still images below is from the traditional gosa ceremony and then still images from the first script reading. The traditional gosa ceremony took place March, 2019 in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The traditional gosa ceremony takes place to bring about good fortune and keep misfortune at bay.

“Partners for Justice Season 2” is now scheduled to first air June 3, 2019 in South Korea (takes over MBC’s Monday & Tuesday 10PM time slot after “Special Labor Inspector Mr. Jo.”).

Ji Chang-Wook cast in tvN drama series “Let Me Melt”

Ji Chang-Wook is cast in tvN romance drama series “Let Me Melt” (literal title). The drama series is Ji Chang-Wook’s first acting performance since being discharged from the South Korean military on April 27, 2019. For drama series “Let Me Melt,” Ji Chang-Wook plays variety show PD Ma Dong-Chan. He takes part in a 24 hour freezing project, but wakes up 20 years later. He must then keep his body temparature at 31.5 celsius to stay alive. Drama series is directed by Shin Woo-Cheol (“Secret Garden“) and scripted by (“Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon“).

“Let Me Melt” first airs sometime during the second half of this year in South Korea.

Teaser trailer #2 for tvN drama series “Arthdal Chronicles”

Teaser trailer #2 added for tvN drama series “Arthdal Chronicles” starring Song Joong-Ki, Jang Dong-Gun, Kim Ji-Won and Kim Ok-Vin. Meanwhile, below are the first still images of Kim Ok-Vin in the drama series. For “Arthdal Chronicles.” Kim Ok-Vin plays Taealha. She is the daughter of the leader of the Haejok tribe. Taealha is an ambitious politician who yearns for power. Lastly, some good news for international fans. “Arthdal Chronicles” is now scheduled to premiere June 1, 2019 in South Korea, but will also appear on Netflix on the same day in about 190 countries.

Jang Dong-Yoon cast in KBS2 drama series “The Joseon Romantic-Comedy Tale of Nok-Du”

Jang Dong-Yoon is cast in KBS2 drama series “The Joseon Romantic-Comedy Tale of Nok-Du” (literal title) co-starring Kim So-Hyun. The drama series previously went under the Korean working title of Nokdujeon (literally “Tale of Nok-Du”), before picking up the Korean title of Joseonroko Nokdujeon (literally “The Joseon Romantic-Comedy Tale of Nok-Du”). In the drama series Jang Dong-Yoon will play lead male character Jeon Nok-Du. His character is scripted as being smart, handsome and ambitious. He becomes involved in an unexpected case and goes to a widow village where he meets Dong Dong-Ju (Kim So-Hyun).

“The Joseon Romantic-Comedy Tale of Nok-Du” first airs September, 2019 in South Korea.

Teaser trailer #1 for MBC drama series “One Spring Night”

Teaser trailer #1 added for MBC drama series “One Spring Night” (English title) starring Han Ji-Min and Jung Hae-In. Teaser trailer #1 doesn’t show any of the performers, but rather a cherry blossom tree swaying in the night and captions in Korean that states “Spring night knows. You will fall in love.” With the laid-back folksy soundtrack you could even think you are watching a trailer for Jung Hae-In’s prior drama series “Something in the Rain.”
