Yuina Kuroshima is cast for the lead role in movie “Mirai.” Also cast in the movie are Nanami Yamazaki, Ryota Bando, Kanata Hosoda, Hana Kondo, Tori Matsuzaka, and Keiko Kitagawa. The film is based on novel “Mirai” by Kanae Minato (“Confessions“) and directed by Takahisa Zeze (“Threads: Our Tapestry of Love“). Meanwhile, a teaser trailer and 3 teaser posters has also been revealed for the movie.

Trailer and poster added for live-action film “Wind Breaker” starring Koshi Mizukami. Movie is based on manga series “Wind Breaker” by Satoru Nii and directed by Kentaro Hagiwara (“Tokyo Ghoul“). The movie’s theme song has also been revealed, which is “Stay Strong” by boy band BE:FIRST. The theme song is featured in the main trailer. Caption on the poster states “With friends, protect at all cost.”

Haruka Ayase and Daigo cast in movie “Sheep In The Box”

Haruka Ayase and Daigo, from comedy duo “Chidori,” are cast in movie “Sheep In The Box.” The film is written and directed by award winning director Hirokazu Koreeda (“Air Doll“). The script is set sometime in the near future. Haruka Ayase and Daigo will play a married couple for the movie. They decide to welcome a humanoid into their home as their son. Filming for the movie began this month. The title of the movie is inspired by the French children’s novel “The Little Prince.”

“Sheep In The Box” will be released sometime next year in Japan.

Ren Meguro cast in live-action film “Sakamoto Days”

Ren Meguro is cast for the lead role in live-action film “Sakamoto Days.” Movie is based on manga series “Sakamoto Days” by Yuto Suzuki and directed by Yuichi Fukuda (“Saint Young Men“). Story for “Sakamoto Days” will have Ren Meguro play Taro Sakamoto. He is a former assassin, but is now retired and has a family. To portray Taro Sakamoto, who gained weight up to 140 kg, Ren Meguro underwent special makeup for 4 hours a day when filming.

“Sakamoto Days” will be released sometime in late April, 2026 during Golden Week.

Main trailer and poster added for movie “Kaede” starring Sota Fukushi and Haruka Fukuhara. Movie is based on 1998 song “Kaede” by rock band Spitz and directed by Isao Yukisada. In movie “Kaede,” Sota Fukushi plays twin brothers Ryo Sunaga and Kei Sunaga. After older brother Kei Sunaga dies in an accident in New Zealand, his traumatized girlfriend Ako Kinoshita mistakes Ryo Sunaga to be Kei Sunaga. Ryo Sunaga spends time with Ako Kinoshita as his older brother and becomes attracted to Ako Kinoshita.

“Kaede” will be released December 19, 2025 in Japan.

Tasuku Emoto and Ken Watanabe are cast in movie “Kobikicho no Adauchi.” In addition, the first two teaser posters have been released for the film. The movie is based on 2023 novel “Kobikicho no Adauchi” by Sayako Nagai, which won the 169th Naoki Prize in 2023, and directed by Takashi Minamoto (“Tokyo Tower“). The mystery film is set during the Edo period and revolves around a killing that was purported to be a revenge murder.

Hidetoshi Nishijima is cast for the lead role in movie “Sonzai no Subete wo.” Movie is based on 2023 novel “Sonzai no Subete wo” by Takeshi Shiota (“The Voice of Sin“) and directed by Takahisa Zeze (“One Last Bloom“). In the upcoming movie, Hidetoshi Nishijima will play reporter Jiro Monden. About 30 years ago, he covered an unsolved child kidnapping case. In the present day, he looks into the case again after the death of a detective.

“Sonzai no Subete wo” will be released sometime in 2027.

Release date for movie “Emergency Interrogation Room: The Final”

Release date updated for movie “Emergency Interrogation Room: The Final” starring Yuki Amami, Tetsushi Tanaka, & Mokomichi Hayami. The movie is now scheduled for release December 26, 2025 in Japan. Meanwhile, prior to the movie’s release, TV Asahi will air a 5th season of “Emergency Interrogation Room” from October, 2025. The 4th season, which aired in 2021, ended with the special investigation team Kintori disbanding, but the 5th season will have the team reuniting. The team is led by self-made interrogator Yukiko Makabe (Yuki Amami) as she engages in a back-and-forth psychological battle with dangerous criminals.

The film revolves around a young man, Takuma (Issei Mamehara), who moves in with his grandmother (Yoshie Ichige) after her husband passes away. Meanwhile, the movie’s theme song has been revealed as “Hiraku” performed by boy band JO1. The song is written and composed by Motohiro Hata. The movie’s lead actor Issei Mamehara is a member of JO1 and the track “Hiraku” is featured in the trailer as well.
